Okay... my updating streak is done... darn it... but anywho, I finished the next chapter. It takes place around 6:00-6:30 on the morning of the singing comp, so it's just them getting ready. :-) Sorry if it's lame. But enjoy, please!
Korra's POV
"So, you never told me what you and Bolin are doing for your duet," I said to Asami as I closed the shower curtain to change the "you-know-what". Of course, Asami knew, but a girl likes her privacy!
"We want to surprise people – and that includes you and Mako," I heard her say as I wrapped the folded-up pad in a piece of paper. I looked around the tub until I realized I forgot to grab a new one. I poked my head out just to see Asami sniff the air and then scrunch up her face in disgust.
"Phew! Bleed heavily?" she asked. I put on a sheepish smile.
"Yeah, but it's my mother's genetics fault, not mine! Hey, could you get me another pad? It's in the cabinet," I asked as she bent down to grab one. She tossed it to me and I caught it, retreating back behind the shower curtain to put it on.
"What about yours and Mako's duet?" Asami asked as I pulled up my underwear, grabbing the wrapped-up, blood-drenched pad and stepped out, throwing it in the trash before I sanitized my hands, then got dressed myself.
"Same – we wanna give the crowd, including you and Bo, a surprise," I said as I carefully pulled up my shorts, making sure that the belt wasn't going to make it too tight.
"Of course you are. I'm probably gonna be in for something by Avril Lavigne, or some sort of love-hate song," Asami said as she slipped on her shirt, me doing the same after quickly securing my belt.
"Close, but not quite," I said, "It does have a beat – that's all I'm giving you," I stated as I started to brush out my hair.
"Okay, well, to be fair, ours also has a beat," Asami said as she picked up her brush. We continued to brush our hair while chatting and after putting on our accessories, we walked out of the bathroom and downstairs where the boys were already waiting.
Bolin and Mako were once again identical. They were wearing a t-shirt of their respective colors with a black jean jacket, the sleeves rolled up to just above the elbow and unbuttoned, the collars down. They were wearing dark jeans and Jordan's of their respective colors – red for Mako, green for Bolin. They also had a black hat that had a rim and a strap of either red or blue at the base and was tipped a little bit to the side of their heads. Mako's was tipped to the right while Bolin's was tipped to the left.
Asami was wearing a lavender "batwing shirt", since its' sleeves are connected to the sides of the shirt like batwings, and an amethyst necklace with matching earrings and bangles. She was also wearing denim leggings along with tan-and-white three-inch wedges. It was a pretty simple outfit.
I was wearing black baggy tank top that said "LEAVE ME ALONE – thank you" in white with a black spiked cuff on my right wrist, and silver dangly earrings. I also had mid-thigh denim jean shorts with a simple white belt and black combat boots. Once again, pretty simple.
My mom told me before breakfast ended that she was gonna do my make-up again. Of course, I didn't like the sound of that, but I guess I'm just gonna have to get used to it if we win this thing – and remember, I said "if". I put away my plate in the sink, my friends soon following, and we followed my mother back upstairs so she could do my make-up. She went in the bathroom to get her things and I turned to my friends.
"You guys can come in and watch, if you want to. It's better than sitting in my room for the next half hour, or so.
"Sure," they responded.
"Okay, just give me a sec," I told them, and I went into the bathroom. I grabbed the air freshener and sprayed it mostly around the trash can to get rid of the very bad smell of stale blood and put it back in the cabinet. I waved my arm as if to say "come on in" and they sat on the counter of the sink while I sat down on a chair my mom had in here – we have a pretty large bathroom.
"So, all the songs we're singing are gonna be surprises?" I asked as Mom started putting on foundation.
"Yup-der-doodle!"
"Uh-huh."
"Yup."
"Really? Well can you at least give me hint of what the contents of the song have? Beat? Rap? Slow? What?!" I said as Mom took out the blush.
"Well, mine's a little in between – it has a little bit of a beat, but it's also kinda slow . . . you'll find out later," Asami said as she tried to figure out how to describe her song.
"Mine definitely has a beat – so fun to dance to!" Bolin said as he imitated dancing. I rolled my eyes just in time before my mom got out the eye shadow.
"Okay, blue isn't going to go with your outfit, so do you want brown or black?" she asked me.
"Black," I immediately answered. She put the brown eye shadow back and I closed my eyes.
"Mine is actually a rock song – all I'm giving you," Mako said. My eyebrow slightly went up in surprise.
"Seriously?" the rest of us asked.
"Mmhm," he answered. It was silent for a few moments as I felt the brush glide over to my temple. My mom was probably making wings as my design. Then, the brush traveled up to the bottom of my eyebrow – no blending, this time. Soon, she was done and brought out the eyeliner. She went over the edge of my eyes, but seemed to do some sort of design on my right temple and cheekbone, soon coming under my eye. All I know is that I felt the eyeliner go around in swirls. Probably something fancy. Then, I felt the eyeliner stop drawing and heard more shuffling. I felt what was either lip gloss or lipstick glide was across my lips. When she was done, I pressed my lips together like she usually wants me to. I opened my eyes and my mom gave me a "turn around" signal with her hand. I did and smiled at what I saw in the mirror.
My mother gave me a very elegant, yet simple, swirled design with eyeliner that went around the winged eye shadow, up to the end of my eyebrow, over my cheekbone, and under my eye. The eye shadow was pretty simple – it was a solid black one the eyelid that faded into silver at the top. The lip gloss was a blood red that surprisingly went well with my tanned skin. And even though I'm not a big fan of make-up, I still enjoy the outcome, and my favorite was the eye shadow and eyeliner. My mom went creative today and the black really made my eyes pop out. I snuck a glance at my friends through the mirror and they had very pleased expressions, smiling at me through the mirror.
"Thanks, Mom," I told her as I hugged her.
"You're welcome, Korra. Now, let's get your hair done," she said as I turned back around to the mirror. This process was very simple. She brushed my hair out a little more and put it up in a half-do – if you don't know what that is, she just the top layer of my hair into a ponytail and left the bottom layer down. I just recently had my hair cut, so the back of my hair took a v-shape at the bottom and I had my bangs cut to slope over from the left side of my forehead and down around to the right side of my face. I was really expecting like a high-ponytail-fish braid, but she kept it simple. I smiled at that. My mom knows me so well.
Asami already did her make up quickly, yet beautifully, while my mother did my hair. It was simpler than her solo dance make-up. She had a dark purple eye shadow that faded into lavender as it got farther up, like mine. She had a little bit of mascara and eyeliner, making her emerald eyes pop out. Her lip gloss wasn't as fancy as last time and took a soft pink that blended well with her pale skin tone. She put her raven hair in a high ponytail, but left a strand of hair out at the left side of her head and her bangs still arched over her forehead. She put her bobby pin back in of her left side of her head and turned to me.
"You guys ready to go?" my mom asked us. We nodded and we walked out the door to the cars. Soon, we were on our way to the arena for the singing part of the competition.
Yup, that was probably one, if not the lamest chapter I've ever written. But, to make up for it, I'm working on their outfits on Polyvore - I'll let you guys know when I have them up on my profile. :-D I hoped you liked it - and please leave me reviews! They're awesome!
