Chapter 50

Almost two years later he found himself sitting in an uncomfortable tux, staring at a series of movie clips. Her hand dug into his skin as she tried her best to look unaffected. He could see right through her. He always could. He brought his hand to her lips and kissed the back of it. She sent him a grateful look and lessened her hold.

He played with the ring around her finger.

"I can't believe we get to go home," she gushed, double checking their rented flat. He wrapped his arms around her and rested his chin on her shoulder. After a long six months, shooting had finally finished and they were headed home.

Edward had taken the time to take online courses and work on his music. He thought of it as a glorified vacation. They had come a long way on their relationship. They took the time to work out their issues and insecurities and had come out stronger.

"Once we figure out where that is," he said, placing a kiss on her ear. He had given up his apartment, finding it silly to pay for a place he wouldn't be staying at for half the year. Especially since he was out of a job and had been dipping into his savings for his expensives.

She turned around and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Home is where you are," she answered simply. He smiled and kissed her lips softly.

"I love you," he said seriously. His throat tightened and his palms moistened when he realized what he was about to do. "I want to build a home with you."

She smiled, not realizing the sentiment of his words. He pulled away and wiped his palms. He walked over to his bag and pulled out the little box he had been carrying around for weeks. It had started as a stray thought and turned into an urge to buy a ring.

He had been waiting for the right moment and he felt it was now. He walked back toward her and got down on one knee. She gasped and stared at his eyes in disbelief.

"I want a future with you. I want you, forever and always. Marry me?" he asked, opening the velvet box and showing off the new ring. He had pawned the old one, wanting to start off new and fresh.

Her eyes filled with tears.

"Yes."

He leaned down to whisper in her ear.

"I prefer the Globes. At least they feed you there," he breathed and she held back a giggle. He was glad he could ease her stress. He didn't want her to worry.

"Who knows, next year we might be here for you," she said through her smile as she watched the screen. He laughed and pulled away to watch with her.

Bella's network of people had extended to some famous music composers. It was an accident that his music had even been discovered.

"Do we cut it?" Emmett asked from the other end of the glass. Edward shook his head.

"No. I want it perfect."

"Dude, she's going to love it. Who actually writes their own wedding songs?" Emmett commented, exhausted from the hours they had been working. Edward sighed.

"It's just got to be special," he said. Edward was planning on surprising Bella with an original composition to dance their first dance. It had been something he had been working on for weeks and when their mutual friend Tanya Denali got wind of it she insisted he use her Uncle' s recording studio. "One more time."

He waited for Emmett's cue and began playing again. He found himself lost to the song and the melody. He allowed the nerves to wash away and focused on who this song was about.

As his fingers played the last few chords, he knew he had finally got it right.

"That was beautiful, Edward," a voice that was not Emmett's commented. His head whipped toward the sound to find Eleazar Denali standing on the other side of the glass.

"Thank you," he said, blushing at the comment. Edward's music had always been something personal for him. He enjoyed playing, but his own compositions were meant for few to hear. He took it seriously but his passion had laid in helping other's perfect their talents. He was too shy to want recognition on his own music.

"Did you write it?" he asked, his eyes taking on a calculating look.

"Yes," he answered skeptically. A smile spread across Eleazar's face.

"I have a project I'd like to discuss with you."

Since then he had been working with some amazing Hollywood composers, creating original scores. He never understood the rush of seeing his name on screen. Even if it was usually overlooked by most audience members, he loved being part of productions. He loved being part of something bigger and having a part of him immortalized for all the world to see for years to come. In that respect, he finally understood Bella's passion and love for acting.

He'd never imagined there would be a place for him in Hollywood, but with Bella by his side he found that anything could happen. He'd recently taken on his first solo project in a coming of age indie film. One in which Bella had been offered the main role. She had humbly turned it down. The reason causing a smile to stretch across his face.

"So I was thinking…" she began and he rolled his eyes.

"Never a good thing, I'm sure," he teased and she slapped his shoulder. They rested against a well worn couch in their too elaborate living room.

They had come to agree that living in a gated community offered them privacy that a regular suburb would not. Edward knew that Bella's fans felt a sense of entitlement toward her life and there were scum who would do their best to get the fans what they wanted. So although the house was much too lavish for Edward's liking, he enjoyed the privacy and sense of security it offered.

It helped that working on these projects with Eleazar had put quite a sizable income in his bank account and he felt he could afford the house. He knew Bella didn't mind paying for their life style, but his stubborn male pride insisted he carry his weight, if not more.

"Shut up, I'm trying to have a serious conversation," she said and shifted so that she was straddling his lap. He enjoyed the new position and rested his hands on her hips. She buried her fingers in his hair and played with the tendrils.

"Please, don't let me stop you," he said with a smirk and she rolled her eyes.

"So I've been thinking, that since I've finished filming The Crescent series, that maybe I'll take a break," she said, her eyes hiding secrets he didn't quite understand.

"Why would you do that?" he asked.

"Well, I just thought I could use the time to spend with you and maybe we can go on that Honeymoon we never got," she said and he smiled.

"I'd like that," he answered, moving in to kiss her. She pulled back slightly.

"And maybe start a family," she whispered in a rush. The words seemed to fog his mind and he couldn't grasp the meaning behind them. He looked at her dumbstruck.

"W-what?" he stuttered.

"I want to have a baby," she breathed, watching his face for a reaction. A large smile broke across his face.

"Really?"

"Really," she echoed, moving in to place a chaste kiss on his lips. He couldn't fully return it as his smile was overtaking his face.

"And the winner of best actress in a supporting role goes to Isabella Swan in We Come to Life," Tanya Denali announced and the crowd went crazy. Tears poured from her cheeks and he laughed as she stood. Her wrapped her tightly in his arms and kissed her neck.

She pulled away and walked down the aisle, hugging her other cast members as she went. Edward was glad Riley wasn't able to make the awards tonight.

Their relationship was strained to say the least. They had seemed to come to an understanding, but Edward didn't like him anymore than he had before the film.

Edward had trusted Bella during filming. The movie had been about an alcoholic wife and ex gambling husband who try to reconcile their marriage after losing their three children. It was a gut wrenching film with a love scene that had Edward clenching his jaw and fist. They had made it through and here she was, accepting the Oscar for it.

He watched the blue fabric of dress swish around her legs as she walked across the stage. The humble blush never left her cheeks and her smile was radiant.

She hugged Tanya Denali tightly, before taking the award from her hands. He clapped even harder as she turned to the crowd, tears shimmering in her eyes.

"I can't begin to describe what an honor this is. I am honored to be nominated with these amazing women and I just want to thank the cast and crew. This is more than I could have ever expected," she started, holding the golden man toward the crowd before bringing it back to her chest.

She took a breath, her eyes searching the crowd for his eyes. When she found him, she smiled and continued on.

"They tell you a lot of things when you become an actress. You constantly hear what a privilege it is and what you'll be able to see and do. They'll tell you about the struggles and difficulties that await you. They'll tell you about the rush that comes with the highs and they'll tell you about tears that follow the downs. But most importantly they'll tell you how lucky you are."

"But acting is not about luck alone. It's about hard work and sacrifice and it's about finding people to support you through you're toughest times. In that aspect I am so lucky to have such an amazing and supporting family. I am so lucky to have a husband who keeps me grounded and helps me remember my roots. Without him this wouldn't mean half as much as it does." He knew the camera's had shifted toward him, but he never left her gaze. I love you, he mouthed and she smiled as she wrapped up. "Thank you."

Later that night, he held her close as their waited for the car to pull around the building. He hands automatically went to her stomach and the secret that lay underneath her chiffon gown.

This was not how he imagined his life would be. When he fell in love with Bella, he never imagined she would find the recognition she so rightly deserved. He never imagined their relationship would contain so much sacrifice and hard work. He never imagined she could make him as happy as she did. He never imagined he would be such a huge part of Hollywood or that they would begin to raise their family in this type of atmosphere.

He had wanted simplicity, but now if someone could offer him just that, he would refuse.

Because although this was not what he imagined…

"What are you thinking about," she asked, turning in his arms to place a simple kiss on his lips.

"Just that, I wouldn't change a moment of our life together."

Let me tell you now, you're the lucky one

fin…

That's a wrap, folks.

Just a quick note: I really want to thank everyone who stuck around to the end and took the time to review. I know it took longer than expected for me to finish this story. I hope you all enjoyed it. Don't forget to review one last time and let me know you're thoughts.

I don't have anything planned in the near future. Most of the stories I write these days tend to be originals... So I don't know when you'll here from me again. Anyway just thanks for the support. It's been a pleasure sharing this story. :)
