A Tribute to Sherlock Fans

It is all about Sherlock. It always has been, and always will be the center of their world. Everything is filtered through the rose colored lens of Arthur Conan Doyle's creation.

Love for the adventures of the world's only consulting detective and his faithful blogger is all consuming. From all corners of the earth, people gather to express their devotion. They blog, tweet, tumble, make podcasts, and talk in forums that span the globe in the effort to unite like-minded souls in search of Holmesian Nirvana. Most of all, they unite to write stories about the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.

These stories are profuse and varied in their content. They are about everything from serious drama, to the most outrageous slash. Some writers claim ships, while others prefer the purity of the original canon. Many write of strange alternate universes or stories that blend with other fandoms. Whatever their preferences, the result is that they write with the true devotion of committed writers. Many of their stories are worthy of BBC production.

Never in the history of fictional characters, have so many written so much, in so many different styles. With each stroke of the keyboard, the writers have breathed fresh life into the characters, insuring their survival for future generations. For this, we utter a grateful benediction.

A/N Congratulations to fanfiction writers everywhere. As we eagerly anticipate Season 3 finally arriving, just imagine the wealth of new fanfics it will inspire!
