Prompt: Beloved
Rin loved her brother with all of his quirks and faults. He had always been there for her when she needed him, even those times where she didn't want him to be. He was the only family she remembered ever having and all the family she ever needed.
Or so she had thought until Komatsu's arrival in their life. The chef's first encounter with Rin had been perilous -something that became an odd habit for him, meeting people in dangerous situations- but had stuck to Rin for longer than she had expected.
It wasn't guilt -though she had been overwhelmed by it for a while- over the mix up in fragrances. It hadn't been her jealousy over Toriko's affection and attention. It had taken her a while to figure out, years even before she put her finger on why Komatsu's entrance in her life had weighed on her mind.
It was a simple thing. Something small like many things about Komatsu's were. It was the impression of warmth and care that seemed to surround him like a cloak. Rin had no memories of her parents but sometimes, when Komatsu's dropped by to cook with her and Sunny, Rin felt the stirring of a faded thought surface gently.
This is what a parent's love must feel like.
