Five years later…

"Mommy, where are we going?" Rima tugged on her mother's jacket sleeve.

"Why do you keep asking questions?" an annoyed Yuki asked, about to explode at his sister's stupidity. (A/N: Yes, I know, their son has such a girly name. But that is because he looks like his mother in hair and eyes.)

"Why do you have the nerves to pester me?" Rima raised an eyebrow, and calmly combed down her fiery orange locks.

"I swear, Rima, you look like your father but you act like me," Haruhi shook her head.

"Well, at least I am not as immature as that idiot," Rima said, pointing at her brother.

Kaoru chuckled when his son nearly exploded in anger.

"Anyways, mom, where are we going?" Rima became oblivious to her brother.

"Somewhere where I am going to visit alone," Haruhi grimaced in acknowledgement.

Kaoru's face became shadowed at the mention. They were going to the jail where Haruhi's father is being held. Haruhi insisted on going alone, and there was nothing Kaoru could do to stop his wife from going once she had made up her mind.

"Can't we come?" Yuki got over his outburst and eyed his mother with curiosity.

Haruhi smiled and said, "No. But if you behave on your best behavior, then we can go to Aunt Harumi's house for dinner."

The children became frozen stiff. Rima and Yuki faced each other and sternly stared at each other to decide whether to go along with the plan or not. But no matter how big the price was, they would do anything to go to Mrs. Harumi's house. Though Haruhi's math teacher was a human, they enjoyed playing with her kids and eating dinners with the family.

Rima and Yuki faced their mother and muttered, "Fine…"

Haruhi smiled and said, "Then be on your best behavior. Your father will monitor you when I am gone, okay?"

Kaoru turned to his wife and said, "You know I can't handle these two like you!"

Haruhi smiled and said, "Experience is the best gift I can give you."

Kaoru sighed in defeat and said, "Very well."

"We reached our destination," the driver in the limousine said in a monotone voice.

"Thank you," Haruhi said.

Opening the door of the limo for herself, Haruhi stepped out.

She closed the door, and the limo drove off, somewhere near the jail, to park until she was ready to leave.

This is it, Haruhi thought, as she faced the jail.

Walking up to the receptionist, she said, "I would like to visit my father, Ranka Fujioka."

The lady hesitated, twitching considerably when Haruhi mentioned his name. Tilting her head in curiosity, Haruhi asked, "Is there something wrong with my father?"

"N-No, a-absolutely not. H-Here's your card. You will b-be at station three," the lady shakily offered Haruhi a card.

Did the lady see my fangs? Haruhi thought in a panic.

Her thoughts were proved wrong when the moment Haruhi turned around the lady puffed, "Man, that guy is a nuisance to take care of."

Oh, she just hates my father, Haruhi thought.

Sitting at the station number three, Haruhi waited patiently for five minutes until she heard curses, kicking and yelling. Yep that was her father.

"Let the hell go of me, you f*cking bastard!" Ranka swore.

"Shut the hell up," a guard glared at Ranka.

Haruhi picked up the phone, so she could get this visit over with and never see him ever again.

Then the three guards shoved Ranka in the seat across from Haruhi and stayed right behind from him in case if Ranka made a run for it, right then and there. When Ranka looked in annoyance at who visited him, thinking it was Mrs. Harumi's weekly visits of torture, his face twisted into a sinister smile when his eyes rested on Haruhi.

"Look who came. Mommy's little bitch," he sneered, once he picked up the phone from the other side of the soundproof glass.

Haruhi grimaced and said, "Well not my fault mom favored me than you."

"You shut up, you hear me, you little swine?!" Ranka yelled.

"What? We all knew it was the truth. And besides, if you wanted mom to yourself, why couldn't you just tell me? I am not a hogger, you were just too egoistical to ask," Haruhi narrowed her eyes at her father.

"Why you little…" Ranka wanted to suffocate Haruhi.

"I would also like to commend Mrs. Harumi's work. She has put you where you belong, father," Haruhi narrowed her eyes dangerously. Her eyes glowed a dangerous red for a fraction of a second, before turning back into her normal deep chocolate eyes.

"You're a vampire!" he pointed a finger at the glass, aimed straight for her nose.

"Aw, how pathetic can this idiot get? He thinks his daughter is a monster? Let's put him in a mental hospital!" A guard informed a staff person.

The staff person nodded, and Ranka was flailing and saying, "She is a monster! I saw it! She had bloody eyes! The next thing I need as proof is fangs!"

Oops, need to draw in my fangs, Haruhi thought, I am glad this came with being a pureblood. I can draw back my fangs.

"Let me see your ugly fangs!" Ranka was going ballistic.

Haruhi smiled, showing her teeth, but no fangs. Ranka's jaw dropped to the floor and another guard nodded, "A mental hospital sounds good."

"I told you!"

"Let's lug this idiot there. I want to get home early."

"Wait, you have GOT to believe me! She has fangs! And bloody eyes! She is an immortal bloodsucker!" Ranka was pulling their uniform sleeves like an abandoned puppy.

"Shut up, transvestite. Even if she did have fangs, how can you prove it is real or not? A lot of people cosplay vampires with fake set of fangs. You're just delusional," The guard shook his head and yanked his hand out of Ranka's death grip.

"We're sorry ma'am, but your father is getting out of hand and is imagining things that aren't real," the guard gave an apologetic look.

"He thinks you are a vampire," another guard shook his head.

"So we are going to end this call and move him to the mental hospital. Don't worry, you can talk to him some other time, I hope," the guard muttered underneath his breath, hoping that Haruhi wouldn't catch it, but with her enhanced hearing from her pureblood powers, she did.

Smiling she said, "Don't worry. Take your time. Have fun father!" Haruhi sarcastically laughed as Ranka was pulled away, while he was yelling how the world is unfair.

I never said life was fair, stupid father, Haruhi smirked through telepathy, sending a message to her father.

"DON'T YOU DARE TALK THAT WAY TO YOUR FATHER! COME HERE SO I CAN MURDER YOU!" Ranka was yelling as he was finally yanked out of the room.

Sighing, she said, "What a waste of time. He still spends his time like a drunkard."

Going back to the lobby, she handed the card back to the receptionist, smiling a charismatic smile to the lady, "Thank you."

Once she got outside, she let her fangs sink back from her teeth and she picked up her phone and called Kaoru.

"Hello?"

"Hey Kaoru," She smiled.

"Are you ready to leave? Rima and Yuki are having staring contests which is starting to turn into glaring wars," Kaoru uneasily said.

Haruhi laughed, a sound that sounded like ringing bells and melodious music, "Don't worry, I am done. Have they behaved well?"

"Define 'behaved'," Kaoru said uneasily on the other side of the phone.

"Did they go to each other's throats?" Haruhi asked.

"No, they didn't," Kaoru said, "but they will if their mommy isn't there."

Haruhi chuckled and said, "Okay, okay, I am ready to leave. Tell the driver to pick me up."

"All right, darling," Kaoru sounded really happy on the other side of the phone now.

Haruhi giggled and hung up.

When the limousine came, she opened the door and sat inside, closing it after she came.

"Mommy, why are a lot of humans staring at us?" Rima asked.

"Why do you care?" Yuki asked with a killing aura around him.

"Shut your trap," Rima glared, and turned sweet and childish, calmly clinging to Haruhi and expecting her answer.

"Probably because humans do not see limos in day-to-day life," Haruhi shrugged, "I don't know."

Kaoru chuckled, "You tired?"

Haruhi sighed and said, "You have no idea."

Kaoru asked, "What happened?"

"I thought that after SIX years, some sense would've kicked into my dad. He changed, but he just added six years to his life. His hair grayed, his teeth had rot, he became skinnier, and he grew a lot of facial hair," Haruhi grimaced, "but he has the same bitter anger against me."

Kaoru clenched his fists, and Haruhi noticed.

"Don't worry, he wishes he could land a finger on me but he can't. He won't hurt me now," Haruhi smiled.

Kaoru smiled, and visibly relaxed at Haruhi's reassurance.

"If you say so," Kaoru said.

"I know so. He was this close to finding out our secret," Haruhi shuddered.

"How?" Kaoru now became a little tense.

"My throat became dry when talking to him and…well…my eyes glowed red," Haruhi fiddled with her fingers.

"And then what happened?" Kaoru raised an eyebrow.

"Well he went ballistic to the point he wanted to see my fangs," Haruhi rolled her eyes.

"You hid them, right?" Kaoru asked.

"I did, don't worry. The guards think he is officially crazy, and have re-located him to a nearby mental hospital," Haruhi grimaced, "Where he definitely can't break out of."

"So do we get to go to Aunt Harumi's house?" Rima looked at her with big puppy eyes.

"Quit begging idiot. Mom gets to decide," Yuki said with an anger red mark popping on his head.

"I wasn't asking you, Einstein," Rima glared at Yuki.

Yuki scowled and the two were going to star World War Three in the car, and Haruhi leaned and said to Kaoru, "How is this the glaring wars? This looks like world war three is going to take place in a limo."

Kaoru sweat-dropped and said, "Now you understand my pain, don't you?"

Haruhi rolled her eyes sarcastically and broke her children apart, who were glaring at full intensity now. Hushing her children in a childlike manner she said, "Yes, you won. I will call her, and we will go. Now quit scowling like that at each other, or else no desert!"

Rima and Yuki, hearing at the possible loss of desert, straightened up like pins and Haruhi dialed Mrs. Harumi's phone number.

"Hi, Kana-san, about the dinner offer you gave me in the morning, I can make it…" Haruhi started talking to Mrs. Harumi.

[Five hours later…]

Haruhi had finally gotten Yuki and Rima to quiet down in their beds.

Walking over to their bed, Haruhi sat down next to her husband with a huge sigh, obviously tired from the day's events. She was tired, and didn't want to go through another string of events, even if it happened at night for her now.

"You seem very tired," Kaoru chuckled.

"Maybe day is approaching that's why," Haruhi murmured.

"You said you were thirsty," Kaoru offered her his wrist.

Haruhi mumbled thanks, and took the wrist, and sunk her fangs in it, careful not to puncture too deep. As the fed, she could see through the blood, all of his emotions, and was touched when she could see mostly herself, and some places, them as a family.

Detaching her fangs, she said, "Thank you."

Kaoru smiled and said, "You know you don't have to thank me. It is the natural order of life."

"Not that. I meant for the second life," Haruhi smiled.

Kaoru smiled and pulled his wife in a hug.

"Are you scared?" he asked.

"Of what?" Haruhi asked. Honestly, what is there to be scared of?

"That you had to go through all this pain?" Kaoru mumbled into his wife's hair.

"I know this pain was terrible. I have to admit, that I too was attached to my mom to the point that I couldn't imagine a life without mom. I knew that dad hated me because I took my mom's attention away from him. I knew that the day she dies would be the marking point, the beginning of my torture. In a way, I knew that I would be abused if my mom dies," Haruhi mumbled and clutched onto Kaoru's shirt tighter.

Kaoru only responded by hugging his wife even tighter.

"I am just happy that it is over…" Haruhi mumbled as she allowed herself to melt into his arms even further.

"It is over, but then why do you still visit him?" Kaoru honestly didn't want Haruhi's dad poisoning her with thoughts and one day, she could be turned in the wrong direction.

"Because, even though I don't want to, and as much as Mrs. Harumi doesn't really want me to, by the law he is my biological father. And even if he had abused me so much, it would seem in the eyes of people that the child had ran away from her duties of a daughter and completely neglected her father," Haruhi answered.

Kaoru just was more irritated by the way the world works, and now to think about it, he never came out of his little shell, even after Hikaru got married to Azumi. Now to think about it, those two want to take their time before they even have any children.

Then, suddenly, there was a sudden outburst, and Haruhi froze in Kaoru's arms, and Kaoru raised an eyebrow. "Are they at it again…?" Kaoru asked.

"They very much are," Haruhi sighed and Kaoru was unhappy to release his wife from his hug.

Trudging down the hall with Kaoru following her closely behind, they opened the door to their children's bedroom.

"Yuki, this isn't funny. Give me back my mathematics textbook," Rima was fuming as her brother was holding her mathematics text book.

"Turn off the damn light and then I might!" Yuki was threatening to chuck the book out the window.

"It isn't funny! I want to quickly get my math homework done!" Rima made a swing for the book.

"Which isn't due in a week!" Yuki held it out of reach again.

"Yuki, give Rima her book back and then Rima, I think you have studied enough for today," Haruhi held her hand out for the math book.

Grudgingly, Yuki handed back the book. Haruhi went over, handed Rima her book, and shut off Rima's study light. The moment the light went out, Yuki sunk back into bed saying, "Finally! Dark!"

Rima, whose vein was popping on her forehead, went over to her brother's bedside and yanked open the curtain to see the bright morning. Yuki hissed in pain and then she closed it.

"If you two calm down, I could tell any story you want," Haruhi offered and Kaoru nodded, wrapping his hands around her waist.

"Okay…" Rima slyly said, as she crawled into her bed, "Tell us the story of how mommy and daddy fell in love!"

Haruhi sweat-dropped and said, "That's a long story…"

At the statement, Yuki didn't want to sleep at all now, "That's okay. We've got all the time in the world to hear it."

Haruhi looked at her husband and Kaoru chuckled. She took a deep breath and started the tale that had begun the day she was found, battered on the thick blanket of snow.

"Once upon a time…"
