It had been a few days since Hotch and Rossi had been saved from Hankel. It had been a tough few days for the pair (it had been a tough time for all of the team really). Reid, who had been knocked out during the night where Hotch and Rossi had been saved, was still unconscious. He was in the ICU and it worried everyone. The doctors were trying everything, but Reid was still in a fragile state. It had been such a busy time for Hotch that it was the first time he had gone in to visit Reid. Hotch had been busy talking to FBI officers and wrapping up the last bits of the case that he hadn't visited his 'brother'. He felt guilty about it and he knew he should have really gone to see him sooner but Hotch couldn't help but blame himself for Reid's condition. Every time he finished work, he'd drive to nowhere in particular but tonight was the first night he had drove to the hospital. Most nights he'd drive along the highway for hours trying to keep the nightmares at bay. Eventually he'd drive home but Hotch felt like he hadn't done enough. He didn't know what he could do and he thought seeing Reid connected to all the machines in a hospital bed would just make it all worse. Walking towards Reid's room in the ICU, he saw a short, fat, middle-aged woman nurse walking outside of his room. Hotch was still uncertain about going to see Reid because he doubted he could make anything better. He nervously walked over to the nurse and spoke to her quickly.

"How is he?" Hotch asked. It was his fault this had happened. Hotch assumed Hankel was dead, but he was wrong and Reid was in intensive care. He couldn't help but blame himself, even though he knew Reid wouldn't him to blame himself.

"We can't see anything substantial in any of the scans we've done so far, but he is still unconscious. He'll stay in there until he wakes up and we can gather if anything more serious has happened that none of the scans has picked up so far…" The nurse explained before adding "Until he's moved out of the ward, its family only…"

Hotch nodded. He knew Reid would want to see Morgan or Garcia when he was awake. He also knew Morgan and Garcia were aching to see him too. Hotch felt that they deserved to see Reid before he did. They hadn't caused this. "I'm his half-brother…" Hotch explained. He took a deep breath as he tried to calm his nerves. He still felt strange explaining that Reid was his half-brother. It felt almost unbelievable! The nurse nodded letting Hotch into the room.

Hotch sat down next to Reid slowly. He felt guilty and scared that Reid would just stay like this forever. Hotch knew that Reid was probably going to wake up and be fine, but there was something inside of him which was terrified that the last time he'd see Reid be a normal alive person would be after the Hankel incident. If he was being honest with himself, Hotch didn't know what he'd do if Reid never got back to the person he used to be. Hotch took a soft breath and said softly "Hey, Reid. Rossi and I are both ok. But we are all worried about you. You've been sleeping for a little bit too long and I want to see you awake again. You'd probably have the stats about coma patients and I guess it would be comforting if I heard some weird fact out of your mouth. I'm sorry for everything that happened. I should have known Hankel had a brother. I should have known he would have targeted you and hurt you in some way. I should have known at the end that he was still alive, and maybe we wouldn't be in this situation. I can't change the past, but I promise that as soon as you wake up I'll make it up to you." Hotch said, a couple of tears building in his eyes. He didn't know if Reid would hear him or not, but he still meant all of it. Despite the fact he was happy that he was still alive and had been saved by the team, he couldn't help but be a little bit angry at some of Reid's methods. He hated that Reid had taken dilaudid again and all he wanted to do was shout at him for doing it, but he couldn't find it in himself to do it now (especially since he didn't know if Reid was listening). Hotch still blamed himself for Reid's actions though. There was stuff that shouldn't have happened but had and Reid didn't deserve this.

Hotch stayed in silence, sitting beside Reid for a few more minutes before standing up. "See you later Reid," He smiled. He took his hand and placed it in Reid's. "Thank you for saving me and Rossi, and I hope you wake up soon…"Hotch whispered as he felt a small squeeze. "Reid?" He said, unsure if his mind was playing tricks on him.

Reid slowly started to open his deep brown eyes. As Hotch saw Reid's eyes flicker, he called for the nurse before sitting back next to Reid. He felt almost eurphoric as he saw his brother's eyes widen. "Hey," Hotch said, trying to keep his relief and excitement out of his voice. A faint smile appeared on Hotch's face as Reid's face became less panic-stricken and more calm.

"Sir," Reid croaked as he became more aware that he was in a hospital room. Hotch quirked his eyebrow slightly. Reid hadn't called him sir in a long time, and Hotch didn't understand why Reid was now. "What happened? Why am I in the hospital?" Reid asked. He seemed very confused, as was Hotch. He expected a small amount of amnesia as it was normal after someone had been knocked out. He wasn't a doctor so he couldn't be sure!

"You were knocked out on a case," Hotch summarised simply. It was much easier than explaining everything.

"That would explain my headache…" Reid said before diagnosing something else in his system. "Who gave me Dilaudid?" Reid said with a slight panic in his voice. In his medical file, it said he didn't want drugs like morphine in case of a relapse. Hotch had a feeling that Reid had been high when he had rescued them. He was sure that the person who had given Reid pain relief was Reid himself, but he didn't want to say anything because at this point he didn't think it would help anything.

"I guess a nurse did… I can talk to them if you like," Hotch lied. He didn't think Reid would notice because of the state he was in. Hotch knew that if he told the truth, Reid would have been ashamed of himself and would have probably hated the fact that he had let himself down like that.

"Where are the others?" Reid asked, looking around the room slightly. As much as Reid didn't mind being alone with Hotch, it would have been nice to see JJ, Morgan or Penelope instead.

"They're only allowing family right now," Hotch explained, knowing Reid would understand that. Hotch expected a nod in response or a question about Rossi, instead something more sinister happened.

"Why are you allowed in here, then?" Reid asked, the confusion on his face was evident. Hotch was shocked and he didn't know whether to take it as a joke or not. "Are you joking Reid? Please say you are joking…" Hotch said as fear came into his voice. Hotch hoped Reid was joking because he didn't know what he would do if Reid wasn't. "No, what the hell do you mean?" Reid asked. Hotch could see how confused Reid was. Reid hated being confused and this wasn't helping his already sore brain. Hotch froze slightly, not knowing what the hell to do.

"What's the last thing you remember?" He asked. Hotch hoped Reid was just playing a sick prank on him (although he doubted that. Reid's face was confused and he wasn't one for pranks, especially sick pranks like this). Maybe it was just short term memory loss from Lucas knocking him out. Either way he hoped Reid would remember everything. If Reid didn't remember, everything would change and Hotch couldn't imagine the pain Reid would go through once he found out the truth. He didn't want that.

Sorry its been a while but both me and My Beta/Co-Writer have been busy with College. So There will hopefully be one more Chapter before A new story.
