Hello dear followers and new readers! I know, it was a while I updated this story, and I'm terribly sorry. My life was in the way, but I promise I'll try to continue the story as soon as I can. I love you all! And please enjoy this chapter.
When Edd regained consciousness he had terrible headache and the light flustered his eyes. He twinkled as he looked over in the room. The room was unfamiliar to him as he slowly sat up. His eyes got used to the light after a short time he recognized he was in a hospital room. He heard a soft snuffle and he turned his head to the source of the sound. Edd smiled when he saw Kevin with crossed arms on his chest, sleeping in an armchair next to his bed.
„Ke…Kevin…" Edd whispered. Kevin woke up suddenly and when he noticed Edd is back he was next to him immediately.
„Dee, are you okay? Aren't you thristy or hungry? Should I bring something for you?"
„Well, umm…" Edd started to stutter. „I'm fine just my head hurts. And thank you I don't need anything, but…" Edd paused and took a deep breath. Fear glanced in his eyes. He was in afraid of the question he wanted to ask from Kevin. Or rather from the answer what he's gonna get.
„Would you be so nice and tell me what happened?"
„You don't remember?"
„Well… not really. I remember when we brought David to the airport then we're goint home. And after that…" Edd fell silent, he turned his head off from the other man. The memory of the voice in his head was still vivid what he heard in the car, but he didn't dare to mention it to Kevin. „... I don't remember what happened after that."
Kevin told him about how Edd ran away from the car and how he collapsed on the grassy meadow. He also told him how he kicked all the traffic rules up to took him into the hospital and how he started to quarrel with the doctor to let him stay for the night beside Edd.
„Thank you…" Edd's cheeks went red. The warmth overwhelmed him again, just like before when he spend the day with Kevin. „Why?" came the next question before he could thinking about it. Edd raised his hands to his mouth and stared to Kevin with widened eyes.
Kevin started to stroke the back of his neck with his palm nervously. „You know…" he started tensely. 'This is your time Kevin, pull yourself together!' he encouraged himself before he continued. „I like you Dee…" the ginger said. „I don't want to scare you with this, but I can't hide it anymore. And I don't want to." Kevin reached out to hold Edd's hand. „And I know from good soucre that your feelings are kind of same for me. Or at least it was in the past…"
Edd was listening with bright red face to the bigger male who sat at the other end of the bed. The mixed feelings of happiness and fear paralyzed him. They just sat there in silence for minutes, staring at each other.
„I… I…" Edd mumbled in embarrassment. „No.. this… we… we can't be together." His voice was weak and sheaky.
„No? Why not? I noticed how you looked at me all day when I was over your place yesterday." Pain and dissapointment was in his voice. „Just explain the reason… please…" Kevin strenghten his grip on Edd's hand gently and looked deep into his sky blue eyes.
„Good morning dear Eddward." A tall, thin man with grizzled hair stepped into the room, his deep voice was almost painful as it broke the silence between them. „I knocked but there was no response, I thought you're still sleeping."
Kevin jumped up from the bed as quickly as he could. He looked to the doctor with red face, who just smiled on the young man's reaction.
„Good morning Dr. Gerard." Edd smiled to the old doctor. Kevin murmurred something too and he stepped back to Edd. „Double-Dee… How do you know the doc's name? You were unconscious when I brought you in to the hospital."
Edd stared with a suprised look on his face to the doctor then to Kevin. He opened up his mouth to answer when the old man put his hand on Kevin's shoulder.
„Mr. Barr, would you please leave me alone with Eddward?"he asked with a light smile. Kevin glanced with angry face to the doctor, but he nodded and went out from the room.
It was rare when Kevin light a smoke. But he wanted a cigarette now more than ever. He searched the smoking area and he allowed that the nicotine filled smoke speard in his lungs. There was thousand of thoughts in his mind. After few minutes he put out the cigarette and went back to the corridor of the hospital. He leaned his back to the wall, his arms crossed on his chest, waiting for the doctor to come out from Edd's room.
Kevin stood there about 20minutes, which seemed to be eternal to him, when Dr. Gerard stepped out from the room. The ginger head hurried to him and look to the old man interrogatively.
„Mr. Barr, may I ask about the relationship between you and Edd?"
Kevin blinked wonderingly to the doctor, he tried to prepare himself to every question, but not this. „Edd is a friend from my childhood, but…" he stopped his line, but the doctor was sure about what he wanted to say after what the old man saw before.
„I see." he started with a smile, but his face turned into serious expression. „Mr. Barr, please keep him safe. He need to rest and utmost calm. But as I know him, he won't observe the rules to not scare anyone and show everything is fine with him. I prescribed his medicine, please be sure he's gonna buy it and take it in every time."
Kevin listened to the doctor with worry on his face. „Dr. Gerard, would you please tell me what's going on here?"
„Mr. Barr, I'm really sorry, but I can't inform you about it, because you're not in Eddward's cousinhood."
„Can't you make an exception this time, doctor? If I don't know what's the problem with Edd, how can I act properly if something similar would happen with him?"
The older male took a deep inhale, scratching his forehead with his hand. He could understand Kevin's worry, but he had to keep Edd's illness private. They stood in front of each other silently for minutes.
„I'm really sorry Mr. Barr, but I can't help in this. If anything would happen with him, please bring him in again." the doctor said with unconcerned tone and walked away hurriedly.
„Fuck it…" the red head cursed and stepped into Edd's room. He was mad to the doctor, heavy frown was visible on his face. However his expression softened as he saw the smile of the other.
„Dr. Gerard said I can go home. My clinical evidences were good and I got some medicine too to not lets happen this again." Double D got out from the bed walking into the bathroom to change his clothes. Kevin didn't say anything, the doctor's words still echoed in his ears. Edd really acted like there is no problem with him, like these hospital visits would be an everyday thing. Hundreds of questions were in the mind of the red head, but he didn't want to bother Edd with them. For now.
The road at way to home was silent. Kevin stopped the car at a pharmacy so Edd could buy his medicine. When the car reached the familiar surroundings, Kevin took a turn in a different way.
„Where are we going Kevin?"
„To my house. I want you to stay there for few days." Kevin said but he didn't look to Edd, he kept his eyes on the road. „I'll be honest, you're fuckin' scared me, and I don't know what's wrong with you. Dr. Gerard couldn't speak about it, 'cuz he have to keep it in secret. So if you would tell me what's happening with you, I would be really grateful." Kevin tried to stay calm, but as he spoke, his voice grew stronger. Edd stared his feet, hands deeply digged into his pockets. He didn't dare to go against Kevin and he was in fear to tell him what happened. Nobody knew about his illness, just his doctors and his parents.
„K-Kevin, I'm much obliged to you for what you've done…" he started with soft, shy voice „…but I'm afraid I can't tell it to you."
„I didn't help you for your gratitude, you don't have to thanks it. I like you Edd, and I don't want to anything happen with you."
Edd looked down to the floor of the car with red cheeks. „Can't… Can't we talk about this later?" he asked timidly. Kevin didn't respond, but nodded as he turned the car into a little nice street and stopped the car in front of his house. „We're here…" he said and got out from the car to open the door to Edd. „We can go over to your place for some stuff of yours later."
„All right…" Edd admitted as he got out of the car. He took a look to the house, it was not too big but it seemed nice. „You have a pretty house Kevin."
„Thanks. It's a small one, but totally enough for me. Come on, let's go in." the bigger male said as he opened the front door. They stepped in the living room which was together with the kitchen, separated with a bar and columns. „Feel yourself at home. Would you like some tea?" Kevin asked and walked into the kitchen. Edd sat down to the couch in the living room, looking around in the place.
„That would be wonderful, thank you." he replied with his cheerful voice as he heard the question. Suddenly he felt something warm and moist on his hand which was on the arm-rest. When he turned his head he saw a big, sparkling pair of brown eyes. The big, grey and white dog wagged his tail happily and 'smiled' to him, trying his best to make a new friend, but Edd didn't appreciate it too much. His face turned white as he stared at the dog.
„K-K-Kevin…" he stuttered with low voice.
Kevin turned around to the sound and he noticed his dog next to the trembling Edd.
„Diesel, sit!" Kevin ordered the dog and he sat down gladly. „Dee, everything is okay?" he asked, worry in his voice and eyes as he stepped closer to the couch. Edd pulled his knees up to his chest, hugging them with his arms, his face hiding behind them.
„Come on Diesel, we'll go out for some fresh air." Kevin grabbed the collar on the dog's neck and led him out to the closed back garden, locking him out from the house.
„Double D, are you okay?" he put his hand on Edd's shoulder as he walked back to him, but instead an answer he felt a strong push on his chest. Kevin fell to the floor with a loud thud. He felt Edd's weight on his groin as the smaller boy straddled on him, pinning down Kevin's wrists with his hands.
„Wha… what the fuck are you doing?!" Kevin asked with suprised expression on his face. He looked deep into Edd's eyes who leaned closer to him. Edd's sky blue eyes were darker now, his countenance totally changed.
„Double D, huhh?" he asked with a shifty grin. „Unfortunately he is not here right now. But I hope I'll be good for you too." Edd leaned in for a kiss, biting into Kevin's bottom lip. „You brought him here to do this, didn't you? To fuck him." He licked his lips then continue. „But you fucked it up, I won't let you do it…"
„What the hell are you talking about?! Who are you?" Kevin felt anger in his veins as the adrenaline overflowed his system. He switched their positions with a quick and strong move so he was on the top now, holding Edd down. The red-head knew this guy looks like Edd, but his behaviour was different now.
„I'm the wolf in a sheep's clothing. The wolf and the sheep in one body." Edd smirked. „Ah, I see… the cute Double D didn't tell you about his little secret. But I'll do this favour to him. I hope you don't mind."
Kevin looked down confused to the guy under him, anger and despair in his eyes. He loosened his grip on Edd's wrists and looked deep into his eyes.
„Your little Double D is suffering in dissociative identity disorder. 'Schizoprenia' in vulgar tongue, however it's a miscall, this illness is an other one. He knows about me, and I know about him. He usually don't remember what I'm doing when I'm out tho. But you know, I'm so nice I always make him to know later in the form of dreams or with voices in his head." He told all of this information unconcernedly, like he read it from a book. Plenty of thoughts and feelings whirled in Kevin's head. „Sometimes the little bastard have strong self-control, so it's rare when I can show up." he added.
Now as Kevin knew about the illness of Dee, he saw everything clear. It was obvious why and with who Edd screamed in the bathroom, why he grabbed his head in the car and why he acted strange. And he could understand nor Edd, nor the doctor didn't want to tell about this to him.
„But now I'm out for a while, thanks to your furry friend." Edd smirked. Kevin let him go without a word, trying to accept all of the new information and figuring out what he should have to do now as he slowly stood up.
„What now? Has the kitty got your tongue?" Edd asked as he hugged Kevin from behind. But before Kevin could say anything, he felt Edd's hand slipped into his pants and wrapped his fingers around his shaft. The red-head flinched from the sudden but pleasurable touch.
„You wanted to use this tonight, didn't you?" Edd whispered with hot breath in to Kevin's ear then he licked his earlobe. Kevin pushed him away from himself quickly and he punched Edd in the face. His moves were controlled by his insticts, he acted before he could think about it. Dee raised his hands up to his head as he kneeled down to the floor. A deep, growl-like sound left the back of his throat but he went silent moments later. Kevin kneeled down beside Edd scared, and put his hand to the smaller one's shoulder.
„Hey, Double D… are you here?" came the question apprehensively, he didn't know which personality was present right now.
Edd looked up to Kevin slowly, teardrops sparkled in his big, blue eyes. He felt pain on his face, but he didn't understand the reason. His mind was a bit blurry with faded memories about what has happened.
„K-Kevin…. what happened?" he asked with a break in his voice „Did… did I do something wrong?"
Kevin calmed down a bit as he hugged Edd to himself, his hand stroking the smaller boy's raven hair on the back of his neck which stuck out from under his beanie. „No, you didn't do anything wrong. Try to calm down, 'kay?"
Edd felt himself embarrassed and he was in shame. Loud sobbing and crying broke the silence, his teardrops soaked Kevin's shirt as he gripped into the bigger man with a hug. Kevin tried to quiet him as he held him in his strong arms. They stayed like this for a long time sitting on the floor, clinging to each other without any word spoken.
Kind of hangover in the end. Please let me know what do you think of the chapter and/or the story in comments, reviews, anything so I will know if it's worth the continue. =)
P.S.: I read about dissociative identity disorder on the net only, I'm not a doc or anything, so I hope I didn't messed it up totally. =/
