"Mai, we're closing. You can go home," Naru said as he shut his office door and saw Mai still at her desk.

"I know, just wrapping up this last case boss," she said cheerily. Naru shook his head slightly.

"Come on dummy, you're working so hard you might blow a fuse and become fully stupid." He casually snatched up the papers on her desk, effortlessly sorting them and slipping them into a folder. Mai protested and fumed but was secretly glad. She had been working her butt off trying to get the case wrapped up.

"You have to admit it was smart bringing in Kashikoi-sama," she pointed out. Naru's cool blue eyes met Mai's eager brown ones, and she thought she saw them crinkle slightly.

"You endangered a client, an elder too Mai," he scolded her gently, but his heart wasn't in it. Mai waited patiently for him to finish. "... It was okay though, for you."

Her grin seemed to brighten the whole office.

"Lin, we're heading out," Naru called over his shoulder as he shrugged his coat on.

"We?" Mai asked, standing up as well and grabbing her coat. Naru nodded.

"Unless you'd like to walk, although it's a little cold out. I wouldn't recommend it." Mai blushed bright red at his proposition and Naru resisted the urge to smile. In Lin's office it was losing battle, his smile peeking through. He silently thanked the Gods for bringing Mai into Noll's life.

"U-Uh sure boss, let's go," Mai finally stammered out, a shy smile playing at the edge of her lips.

With that the two left the office.

Shortly after the door closed a notification popped up on Mai's computer.
