Saysha broke off before launching herself 20ft from the Sith using the force. Landing elegantly she looked around quickly to see that all the Jedi she entered the building with, excluding Oomi. Lay scattered on the floor of the arena dead. "Oomi, return to the Jedi temple and tell them what happened this day I'll hold them off!" Saysha yelled across the entire arena.
Oomi released the gun with one of her hands then used the force that she had rebuilt within to shove Deva back across the arena floor. She flipped back calling her lightsaber to her. "Master Saysha, I can't just leave you!" She protested. "This battle has already been decided but I can hold them off long enough for you to escape, the Jedi must know!" Saysha called out to Oomi who was now slowly backing up towards Saysha.
"Vaos, Deva, do not let that Jedi escape!" Venna called out. Vaos ignited his other saber and used the force to propel him to the Jedi. Deva regained her stance and charged the Jedi with her bayonet leading the way. Saysha held her hand out to her side with her palm facing away from her. In an instant all three of her saber hilts connected to each other in her palm as if they had magnetized to one another and ignited. Saysha then charged in Venna's direction as she twirled the blades with the force into a circular blur of light then sent it hurtling at Venna. Saysha held her one hand out controlling the path of the three lightsabers while she reached out with her other and sent fire from her fingertips.
Venna was smart enough to jump out of the way avoiding it. The fire emanating from Saysha's fingers spiraled down the invisible force hold from Saysha's hand to the weapon turning the blur of blue light into a blazing green flame. It ignited the ground behind Venna and continued on to Vaos who also leapt forward avoiding the massive flaming ball of death. It continued further behind Deva and back into its owner's hands where Saysha dispersed the fire engulfing the lightsabers. "Oomi, go." Saysha ordered as she raised the hand that had ignited the fire and grew the flame to massive proportions. Oomi looked over at her previous Master and dear friend. "Master Saysha, you will not be forgotten and so long as I live these Sith will be stopped." Oomi then looked up at the staircase then blinked to the top and made her escape.
Venna watched as neither she nor any of her underlings could do anything as the Jedi escaped. "You're going to pay for that Jedi." She spat. "I have already accepted my fate, but I am going to do everything in my power to ensure you share the same fate." Saysha replied before grabbing one of her sabers. Saysha charged towards Venna once more as her other two blades soared towards Vaos and Deva.
Venna, Vaos and Deva were circling Saysha like a pack of wolves within the ring of fire. When Saysha charged at Venna Vaos and Deva were not expecting opponent-less lightsabers to come at them. Vaos began his own very awkward and unnerving duel with the single saber while Deva did the same. "Master, the Jedi's vulnerable with force attacks!" Vaos yelled through the distance and noise of the flames all around them.
Venna quickly took note of that fact before shortly sending a kick to Saysha's hands before gathering a massive amount of force power and launching it at the Jedi. The blow threw Saysha back landing her hard on the ground. The two lightsabers that were forcing Vaos and Deva to avoid death, dropped down briefly. The fire all around them almost went out, but then returned to its full strength as did the lightsabers in their determination to kill their opponents, when Saysha jumped back up to her feet.
Saysha rushed towards Venna making a quick strike to Venna's head only to miss and have the white haired demon duck down under her attack, step into her strike range and tap her forehead with two fingers before spinning away. Venna grinned as she stayed low. Vaos and Deva's invisible foe suddenly released its hold over the lightsaber and both blades fell to the ground extinguished followed by the ring of fire that vanished leaving only burnt ground. Both of them looked over at Saysha who looked as though she was attacking nothing more than air while Venna stayed low and drew close behind her.
When Venna was nearly on top of her enemy she brought her saber down. But to her surprise Saysha caught her wrist and used it to hold Venna in place before kicking her twice in the gut. Saysha then brought her lightsaber up between them aiming to slice Venna in half from between her legs to her head. Venna kicked away from Saysha just in time to avoid being killed but the saber scraped against her breast armor and caught her breathing mask damaging it severely. Venna fell back and was about to roll to her side and use the force to sustain herself while she grabbed her saber again but took notice of her young apprentice within the force and instead played the victim. Allowing herself to choke on the unfiltered air she pulled herself back from her enemy while raising a hand up as if to surrender.
Vaos jumped from where he stood a good distance away and landed right beside Venna saving the Sith Lords life as Saysha's saber blade came down. He blocked the strike and spun both his and Saysha's lightsabers up to a dueling position. "Not while I'm still alive." He told Saysha in defiance. Venna looked from Saysha to Vaos with an insidious grin. "Keekay, this is your last chance, step out of the way." Saysha said with the calm stern voice of a true Jedi Master. Vaos held his hand out to Venna who grabbed it and pulled herself up using his hand and arm.
"This is the final test my apprentice; give in to what you truly are. Free yourself and strike down the Master that would bind you into an ethical slavery." Venna whispered in Vaos's ear as she leaned on his shoulder. "Your will be done my Lord." He replied. Then reached out and called Venna's lightsaber to a hover beside him igniting the blade. He grabbed his other lightsaber activating it before aiming all three of the blades at Saysha. "So be it." Saysha replied before she held her one saber at the ready position while the other two activated and went to a hover at her side.
Vaos rushed at her giving Saysha's hands that held her single lightsaber a round kick to slap it away while he brought down one saber. Simultaneously he blocked with both the saber in a hover beside him and the saber in his other hand. Saysha responded by going with the kick and reversing her saber to parry his attack while she maneuvered her sabers into an attack which he parried.
From a bystanders perspective it would have looked like a blur of white and blue sticks clashing against each other as two individuals appeared to be avoiding both white and blue blurs of death. They went at it showing no mercy to the other, the six sabers danced round them making it unclear as to who was winning. Venna was watching very closely as she took note of the fact that the two duelists had to maintain a far greater focus on their weapons than in any other kind of style because they were using the force to control their weapons and the force was not a set arm length, meaning that their own blade could end up killing them if they weren't always aware were each of their three blades were. Or if they allowed one of their lightsabers to hover too far away while maintaining such extreme focus on the battle. The blades could go out of range of the duelists control and end up leaving the duelist with an unexpected opening.
Saysha launched forward with the intent to send the tip of her blade right through Vaos's head but he parried with one of his blades. In response Vaos came at her with all three of his blades aimed at impaling her. Saysha used all three of her own blades to deflect the oncoming sabers away from her throwing them up above her and Vaos's head. The two ran into each other and Vaos sent his forehead hard into Saysha's only to regret it.
Since the skull of a togrutas was three times stronger than that of a humans the intention of harming her backfired. Vaos stumbled back while his head was reeling he could barely see. He also couldn't believe he had forgotten such an obvious fact with the horns and all being a dead giveaway. Saysha helped him even further by sending the roof of her boot into his lower chin and throwing him flat on his back. He landed hard as did Venna's lightsaber that he had had at a hover. He was about to roll to his left when Saysha sent one of her sabers directly into his path. He turned to the other side to find the other saber was blocking his path as well. She reversed her saber aiming it at his chest. "I'm so sorry Keekay." She said as a tear streaked down her face.
Vaos stared wide eyed at her realizing she had him and watched as her blue blade that he had seen defend Keekay so many times in the past come down on him to end his life. As the world seemed to slow down Saysha abruptly stopped as her body rose into the air and stretched out as she gasped for air. Vaos dropped one of his sabers and used the force to deactivate the two sabers pinning him in place before he rolled back and out of the way. He looked over to see Venna walking towards them with her hand outstretched as she was slowly crushing Saysha's windpipe.
Realizing now was his chance he lunged forward with a slash. Cutting Saysha from the shoulder down to her hip, she jolted as the blade went through her head tails and body. To his surprise, Vaos gave an involuntary jolt as well. Venna released her hold and let the togruta fall to her feet before falling forward towards Vaos. Again to his surprise he caught her and set her down carefully with his thigh supporting her back. She was breathing in short shallow gasps as she looked at Vaos with the same surprise in her eyes that he had. They didn't say anything but stared into the others eyes. She reached up to touch his chin and cheek before sinking further into his arms quietly.
Venna walked up behind him calling her saber to her belt, disgusted with the way he held her but knowing that she had finally triumphant and achieved her ultimate prize. Keekay was dead, or would be fully dead now with Saysha no longer alive. Keekay had no one to return to in the Jedi Order and Vaos would be able to flourish into the Darkside as her rightful successor.
She maintained a hidden grin as she could feel Vaos's anger rising. "You loved her, didn't you?" She asked. Vaos laid her down on the ground before standing. "No Keekay, loved, her. She was but an obstacle to overcome. An obstacle that has, been overcome." He said turning around to face Venna. "My lord," He said taking a knee before her. "I offer the death of my previous master along with my allegiance to you and, loveā¦" He said looking up at her with a dark look in his eyes.
Venna instantly recognized that it wasn't love for her, but love for her power. This fact suited her just fine. Before anything else happened Venna and Vaos turned to see Quauhtli and Deva walking over to them. Deva was assisting the large man. It was apparent that Quauhtli had suffered a severe wound due to the black hole in his breast plate. Quauhtli got to one knee followed by Deva. "We are victorious my Lord." He said with his head bowed. "Indeed, however one thing remains." Venna said as she walked past the three of them.
"My philosophy of training only one apprentice has not changed." Venna informed with her back towards them. Quauhtli and Vaos looked up at each other. Quauhtli jumped to his feet letting his saber hiss to life while Deva jumped out of the way. Vaos activated and sent Venna's lightsaber hurdling from her belt to the massive man who deflected it letting it fly harmlessly off. As he turned back around to face the young man, he saw a white saber coming at him with unavoidable speed. All he could do was watch as his motion to deflect the oncoming saber was too slow. The white saber impaled him through the chest, however before pain even registered, the younger man was right behind the oncoming blade with another saber in his hands and within a split second Lord Quauhtli had been decapitated by Venna's apprentice.
Venna watched with an evil grin while Deva watched in horror as Quauhtli's head rolled on the ground and his body toppled over like a useless piece of jelly. Venna called her saber back to her hip and walked over to the young man. "Your bayonet Deva," she said holding her hand out to the black haired woman who had quiet tears swelling up in her eyes. Deva handed the 12in blade obediently to the Sith Lord.
Venna cut the palm of her hand and handed the knife back to Deva. She then dipped her thumb and finger in her own blood then lifted Vaoss chin up. She then placed a thick stripe of her blood from his median cleft down to his chin. Then she used her finger to place what looked like a claw reaching from the corner of his right eye to the center of his cheek. "The mark on your chin represents the death of Keekay, the mark on your cheek represents your ascendance into your rightful place, as my right hand, apprentice and heir. Rise my apprentice, there is much to do."
The End
Epilogue
Venna and Vaos entered the crypt with caution. Vaos was following Venna's steps closely. Walking deeper into the tomb they could feel the power of the Darkside riseing in strength. The further they walked inside the tomb the darker it became, dark enough that both Sith felt it necessary to switch on their lightsabers to illuminate their way.
As they continued down the long corridor it went from a slight slant to a very steep incline that required the two to be extra cautious as they continued onward. Eventually they came out of the long thin corridor and found themselves at the base of a massive Sith Temple. Looking around they saw ancient bones of long diseased Sith and Massassi warriors. They littered the ground all around them wielding ancient Sith weapons and armor.
"This is what we have been looking for? What are we doing down here?" Vaos asked, his patience waning. "You should feel honored my young apprentice. The bones down here speak of a time in our history that few ever get to experience this closely and live. This is a Sith battlefield, two armies fought against each other." Venna explained as they walked through the eerie mass gravesite.
Vaos stopped to look at a massive corpse that resembled that of a beetle only in a monstrous size. It was black due to the ware time had on it its exterior shell. Its outer shell had greatly diminished from what it once had been. It had a massive gaping hole that was prominent in its rear, where its entrails would have been. But remnants of what it once was were not difficult to imagine. It had six massive legs and forceps where its mouth was that looked like they had the capability to rip apart a bantha.
"A Silooth, the ancient Sith used them against their enemies." Venna explained. They continued further until they came to a massive temple that reached high into the sky of Ziost, much higher than the one they exited from. The staircase was steep and atop the temple was a small one door room. Around the temple was a dark lake that was as still and quiet as the air around them. Venna and Vaos surveyed the scene carefully looking for anything that gave them a sign that something was off.
"I will retrieve the holocron, stay here." Venna ordered as she carefully walked across the cobbled pathway that was sunken an inch under the water. Vaos watched as her vibrations in the water echoed across the surface. As he did he saw a shadow begin to move beneath the murky water. Vaos grabbed one of his lightsabers. "Not to rush you or anything, but you may find it prudent to climb faster." Vaos called out to Venna.
Venna gritted her teeth in response. The temple was designed to be steep enough so the staircase forced one to use their hands and feet in order to safely get to the top. It also slowed the climber down no matter what condition they were in. As Vaos watched the water he saw the lake progressively turn into waves then long spinal fins began to appear from the water all over the lake. It appeared as though the spines were moving in one direction as a long giant thick body began to reveal itself.
Vaos looked at Venna who had just about reached the halfway mark. The body continued to rise further out of the water until it became obvious that this was some kind of giant eel or serpent. Vaos kept looking for the head until he spotted it slithering up behind the temple where its massive black head turned down to look at him directly. Its four dark green eyes locked on him like a predator does to its prey.
"Of course," he said to himself. As he threw his saber at the creatures face to distract it from Venna still climbing the temple staircase. The saber smacked into its nose and bounced off it returning to its owners open hand. The creature recoiled then gave a loud and ear deafening roar as saliva was thrown in Vaos's direction. Vaos engulfed himself in a force bubble to protect himself from any other things the creature may spit at him. Seeing the creatures mouth open, he was safe to say that it could devour the entire temple whole if it wanted to.
Vaos made a run for it as the creature came at him. He was sprinting with the assistance of the force as he weaved in and out of columns from the broken ruins. The creature was so massive the heavy stone columns tumbled over like twigs before its massive frame. Vaos looked back and saw that despite being able to use the force to accelerate his speed, the creature was gaining on him. Nevertheless he continued to run as fast as he could to where he and Venna had left the corridor. Realizing at the last second, to jump inside the temples corridor with a giant monster chasing him would be suicide. He slid on the ground until his foot stopped him against the wall. He then ran as fast as he could away from the wall as the monster smashed face first into the temple collapsing the corridor as well as shaking the temple to its foundations.
Vaos collapsed next to one of the many armored corpses that littered the ground as he gasped for breath while he stared at the unconscious behemoth and its massive teeth that were twice his size. He couldn't tell whether it was dead or not but he wouldn't be surprised since its entire body acted like a weight on its head. He hoped but he wasn't going to risk finding out. He shifted in his seat until he was able to pull himself off of the skeletal warrior.
Once on his feet he found Venna standing on the landing ramp of her Rage-class interceptor that was hovering 4ft above the ground beside him. She was holding the holocron of Tulak Hord successfully rescued, "unless you have more wildlife to explore, let's go." Vaos walked up the landing ramp and into the lounge room where he caught Deva staring at him with the familiar hate filled stare that she had had since he had killed Quauhtli. "Deva, plot a course to the unknown regions." Venna ordered interrupting Deva's session of cleaning her rifle. Deva obeyed and soon after with the familiar hum of the hyperdrives kicking to life, the Rage had left Ziost behind.
