I thought, since the story is basically finished anyway, I'd better add the final touch. Here is the last chapter of the story. Also, I realized throughout the entire story I hadn't really mentioned Frank so I thought I'd better mention him. Please forgive the awkward introduction of a new character in the very last chapter! Other than that, enjoy:

Percy Jackson POV

It was the last day of school. I sat nervously in my seat, drumming my fingers against my wooden desk.

It'd been a month or so since we'd returned from San Francisco. Luke had turned out to know no important information at all, just as the feds had predicted – he was worth even less to Kronos than he thought he had been. But I didn't want to think about Luke now, not on the very last day of school.

The seconds on the clock ticked away, and I could feel the growing tension in the room as the teacher droned on and on about whatever it was he was talking about – I'd stopped listening weeks ago.

At last, just when I could take it no longer, the school bell rang. The entire class rose to their feet, jumping and hollering, and like an avalanche we hurtled out of the classroom and into the corridor. There, we joined a high-speed torrent of high school students speeding out of the school. I looked from side to side, searching for my friends.

We met outside the school, standing in the parking lot while everyone else fled the school. Me, Annabeth, Thalia, Jason, Piper, Hazel. There was a new guy at the school, too: Frank Zhang, fresh from Vancouver. Hazel, it seemed, had taken a shine to him, and he stood here now with the rest of us, looking awkward but eager to make friends. I smiled welcomingly at him and he grinned back.

I put an arm around Annabeth and she leaned against my shoulder, putting a hand on my chest. It never failed to send shivers up and down my body.

"Are you guys ready?" Thalia asked, with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

"Hell yeah," Annabeth agreed.

Laughing and whooping, we piled into Thalia's car. We'd been looking forward to this day for months, and we weren't about to let it go to waste. Thalia slammed down the accelerator, and we shot off – heading to Coney Island Beach.

Everyone was wearing their bathing suits under their clothes, so when we got to the beach we just stripped off. The Atlantic spread before us, huge and inviting. Jason, Piper, Hazel and Frank ran towards the sea immediately, kicking up sand in their wake. Thalia chose to spread out her beach towel and lie down on it to sunbathe. Annabeth and I – well, we chose to walk along the shoreline.

We walked side by side, holding hands. Annabeth was wearing a bikini and I'll admit, she was rocking it. She caught me staring one time and punched my arm playfully.

"Pervert," she said cheerfully.

I was dressed in just swimming trunks, and I raised my hands in self-defence. "Sorry," I retorted, then flexed my muscles. "Like what you see?" I winked.

Annabeth laughed and punched me again, this time in the left nipple. I clutched my chest in mock pain, and sobbed, "Was that supposed to be in the heart?"

"God, you're such a doofus, Seaweed Brain."

I took her hand again and we began wandering deeper into the surf. By now, we were a ways away from our friends.

"But I'm your doofus," I reminded her softly. She looked at me, and the love in her eyes was almost too much for me to bear.

"I know," she whispered. We came to a halt and stood inches apart in the breaking surf, the saltwater flying all around us. Around us, vacationers laughed and had fun, and the sun beat down on us, but we didn't notice any of that. Our faces were mere centimetres apart.

"The summer stretches before us," I told her quietly. "Full of possibility."

"Who knows what'll happen?" she replied.

I was about to frown and remind her that it was just a few months, but I realized what she meant. The beginning of summer was a metaphor for the beginning of life. Our entire lives stretched out before us, full of uncertainty – and possibility.

I caught her hands with mine and held them to my mouth, kissing her fingers softly.

"I don't know what'll happen," I admitted, "but I do know that I'm going to be spending every day with you, for the rest of my life. We'll never be parted, Annabeth."

Annabeth waited for me to continue, so I did.

"I to this day don't know just how lucky I was to meet you. I don't know who sent me to you, whether it was God or the Greek gods or whoever, so I don't know who to thank. But I want to thank them anyway. Do you understand?"

She looked at me, and all the truth I needed to see was in her eyes.

"I love you," I told her. "I love you so much. I can't stand being away from you, so I don't want to be away from you anymore – "

She put a finger to my lips, shushing me. Then she leaned forward and kissed me.

It never grew old. Kissing with the breaking surf all around us was an amazing experience. I kissed her back, and held her close to me.

"I get it," she said when we broke off the kiss. "I get what you mean. I get you, Percy. I'll always get you."

I grinned and began leading her deeper into the sea.

"Besides," she continued, "every Seaweed Brain needs a Wise Girl to show him around."

I growled playfully at her, and she laughed. Quick as lightning, I swept her into my arms. She shrieked as I carried her bridal-style into the waves. Collapsing into the water, we laughed and splashed and played, and waited for our summer to begin.

It promised to be the best summer anyone could wish for.

And there we have it, the end of the story One Night! Thank you so much, all of you supporters and reviewers, whether you hopped on the bandwagon yesterday or on August 25, 2013, when this story began. This was my first ever fanfiction and I'm grateful to all of you for reading it, and for putting up with my sporadic updating while I was busy with exams.
My first ever fanfiction has ended. It's sort of a bittersweet memory - took me 10 months to write this. Thank you again, and if you stick around for my other stories, I promise more good things are to come. Until then, peace out!
