I can not believe the time has come. This chapter is the last one for the Duke and I. There will be a sequal set several years later after Bella is done with school.

Thanks for the views and the Reviews.

Sincerely,

Maye Jr Morris.

EdwardPOV

"Edward how are you doing?"

I quickly turned around to see my dad sitting in a spare chair in my office.

"Dad when did you get out of the hospital?" I asked.

"Late last night." He replied. "I wanted to surprise you. Your mum wanted to tell you the moment we found out I would be able to leave."

"That is fine. I am glad that you are healthy." I replied. "What did the doctor request you do to prevent future attacks."

"The usual suspects, diet, exercise and no stress." He replied.

"Did he suggest retirement or working less hours?"

"The doctor didn't but your mother told me that I should think really hard about it."

"You should." I said.

My dad was about to reply when my alarm went off.

"Sorry Id love to stay but I have got a meeting to get to."

"No problem. You are Duke after all."

"I do plan on seeing you and mum at dinner tonight."

"I'll see you then." He replied.

I followed him out of the house. He climbed into his car and was off before I could even climb into mine. I called Alice to let her know that I was on my way.

Twenty minutes later I was pulling to a stop in front of a small café Alice had discovered and ordered me to meet her here. I walked In and she was already seated at the back of the dinning room.

"Alice," I greeted. "What is so urgent that I needed to come see you now?"

"I just wanted to see how you are doing." She replied.

"As you can see I am doing just fine." I replied. "Is there anything else you need?"

"Edward I did not call to see how you were in general. I called to see how you were dealing with the fact that Bella is leaving the country…

"Leaving? When?" I asked.

"Today at noon. I believe."

"That is an hour and twenty minutes from now."

"Yes it is. Have you spoken to her?" Alice asked.

"I have but it was only once but her father was In the room and I couldn't bring myself to say what I wanted to. My nerves got the better of me."

"A duke who can make speeches to crowded with over six hundred people in them but can't tell the woman he's in love with that he loves her in front of her father. Funny don't you think?"

"Yes Alice it is funny. Are you done making fun of me yet?" I asked. "Because I have other places to be."

"Like an airport?" she replied. "Okay I'm done making jokes. You can go I will meet you at your parents place later."

I said a quick goodbye to Alice and ran out the door to my car and had them take me to the airport because most people arrived at the airport two ours earlier than their flight with security measures becoming tougher.

Once I was inside I went straight for the nearest ticket counter since they wouldn't let me through unless I had one.

"I will take the cheapest one you have." I said.

"That will be one hundred sixty nine pounds." She replied. "Would you still like to buy i?"

"Yes of course I would." I said hanging her the card I had fished out of my wallet while she was talking.

I watched as she did something on the computer and printed the ticket off. Once I had the ticket in hand I asked them where the nearest flight to America was

"We have three flights leaving at that time." The lady said.

"Are they in the same terminal?" I asked.

"Two of them are yes."

"It leaves at noon doesn't that help?" I asked.

"No we had several delays today because of birds."

I told her thank you and ran for the terminal (after a bit of a break to get through security). I had my ticket clutched in my hand as I ran head long towards Bella.. It wasn't until a came to a stop at the window by the gate that I realized it was too late. Bella and her plane were already gone. It was too late for me to talk to her and tell her goodbye let alone how I felt about her. The ticket I bought just to talk to her slipped out of my hand as I watched her plane take off and disappear into the sky.

Once the plane was gone I turned on my heel and walked out of the airport. I'm not even sure how I made it out. I barely remember going back through security. Other than the word home I didn't say anything back to my large empty house

BellaPOV

"Bella are all of your bags ready to go?" Dad asked.

"Yeah Dad. In fact even my carry on is ready to go." I replied.

I watched as my Dad loaded up our bags with Peter's help. We were just about to get into the car when Jasper pulled up in another and rushed over to us.

"Wait up." Jasper called.

I turned to face him. He held out a white box with red tape with the word evidence on the side. I looked at it for a few seconds before grabbing it.

"What is this?" I asked.

"I didn't buy it or anything. I just talked to a few people while helping your Dad. He did most of it but he had to help you pack so I had to run and get it." Jasper said. "They didn't call us about it until about an hour ago. There was a lot of red tape that your Dad had to cut through just to get that released for you.."

"Is that true dad?" I asked.

"Of course. I'd do anything for you." Dad replied kissing me on the forehead. "Now open it before we are late for our flight."

I sighed and finally lifted the lid after cutting the tape off. I started to cry when I got a peak at the necklace my dad had given me. It lay inside the box on a thin square of cotton batting. The necklace that had meant so much to me; that I thought was lost to me forever was sitting inside the box.

"How?" I asked closing the box.

"Your dad called the detectives that were in charge of your case against Tanya and asked when it would be released. It was days before he got a clear answer but…"

"The answers I got was I couldn't claim any property of mine until it was no longer needed. Which could have been anywhere from two weeks to two years." Dad said. "But Tanya pled guilty three days ago and all the red tape was cleared up this morning so I had jasper run and get it for me."

"Thank you." I said hugging him. "You will always be one of my best friends even if you decided to stay here.."

"I'll be by to visit."

"You better your mom will… well you grew up with her so you know what she will be like."

Jasper mumbled a goodbye to me and my dad. He shook my Dad's hand and went to stand on the front porch. I smiled and climbed into the car and turned to wave goodbye. I then scooted over as best I could to let my dad in the seat. I leaned my head against his shower and fell asleep as we road to the airport.

Three hours later I was sitting on the plane waiting for the plane to take off. I look out of the window as we flew into the air to watch as England disappeared below the clouds.

A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER

"Dad I am heading to La Push to help Jake and his friends set up for the fireworks."

"Be careful. Sue and I will be down a little later with some off the food. The rest of it is at Billy's place if he kept Jake away from it."

I laughed my but off as I grabbed my keys because it was so true. I slipped out side to make sure I had everything I needed. I was so glad that it was only going to take me one trip to get everything down to La Push.

I pulled up to the beach that I was told we were setting the fireworks off from. I hopped out of the truck and hollered for Jake to come help me.

"Hey Bells you are early. "He said giving me a hug. "Is this everything?" He asked looking in the back of my truck.

"Yes." I replied. "Everything is in the bed of my truck."

"I was just checking." He replied.

"I still can't carry much so you might want to call a few people to help."

"Embry, Quil get you're asses over here and help.."

"Dude be careful you'll blow my ear drums." I replied.

"Sorry." He said as the two boys walked over.

I could hear the two boys grumbling as they walked over but I couldn't tell what they were saying. They were also pushing each other jokingly as they walked over. I knew Quil from when I was younger but no mater how hard I tried I couldn't place the other boy.

"Bells this is Quil." He pointed to the one I recognized. "And this is Embry." He pointed to the one I didn't recognized. "They are my best friends."

It was in that moment that I realized that I had met Embry before. I just hadn't met him here in the United States. I met him while I was in England over a year ago.

"Jake I have known Quil as long as I have known you and I met Embry however I met in England last year oddly enough."

"Seriously?" Jake asked looking between Embry and I.

"I left a few months later when my term ended." Embry replied. "I had no clue the daughter would turn out to be such a psycho."

"I didn't either. I thought she would just be a bitch. But I am home now." I said. "And I want to get these fireworks set up and please tell me the bon fire is set up on the other side of the beach away from the fireworks. I want it done before the others start to arrive. It would be safer that way."

"It is. Jake wouldn't let us." Quil said. "He also won't tell us why."

"That would be because he lost his eyebrows trying to light a bottle rocket while he also made s'mores." I replied..

"He said you dared him to shave them off."

"In third grade but he refused to do so."

"Enough picking on me." Jake said. "Let's get these fireworks set up. Did you remember the layout we printed and the extra fuse?"

"It is all in the bed of the truck. I just can't lift it. Doctors orders."

"That just makes you the supervisor." Quil said handing me the envelope with the layout stuffed inside. "Sorry I don't have a whip for you to crack."

"I could always get a towel and use it." I said following them on to the beach.

I hadn't been to a beach since Jasper's birthday. I couldn't help but miss it. Jake and I grew up here. It's where I came to cry when my mother walked out. It is where all the graduation and post-prom parties were held. The gently crashing waves had calming effect against the crassness of setting up for a party.

"Are you okay Bella?" Jake asked.

"Just remembering everything that has happened this past year and here."

Two and half years later the party was in full swing. My dad and his best friend Billy were cracking jokes about their younger years by the fire. I think that I have heard each one about a hundred times already but they never got old.I took a seat by my dad after grabbing a plate of my own.

We sat there another hour talking, joking and eating. It didn't take long for Jake and his girlfriend to join us. People would come by and talk with Billy for a bit before leaving to find someone else.

"Fireworks will start in TEN minutes." someone yelled.

It had finally gotten dark enough for them. There were cheers from several people as the little kids ran to get the best spots to view them. I stayed with my dad by the bonfire since it had died down a little and you could see the fireworks from anywhere on the beach.

The next morning I sat and the kitchen table with information on any program that I had the slightest interest in. I was having trouble narrowing them down. My dad had told me if I couldn't make career I enjoy out of any of the programs then I would be better off not entering into that program.

I had finally narrowed it down to six programs when my dad came home from work. He had gone in at ten thirty the night before to relieve his Deputy Mark.

My dad then sat with me as he ate the eggs I had made him. He helped me narrow down the programs to two of them. They were the same program just at different schools. I just had to pick which school I wanted to go to.

"What one do you like?" I asked.

"Flip a coin." He said. "You are eighteen you need to make choices for yourself now."

Dad was right that day and I did end up making my first big decision as an adult. I choose which school I was going to and I was now sitting in my dorm room. My dad had just left for his interview. My side was set up. I still haven seen my roommate and I didn't know their name since the paper that had their name on it got doused with water blurred so bad that it couldn't be read.

Two hours after my dad left. I went and got something to eat. When arrived back at my dorm I found the other side filled with boxes. There was still no sign of another human. I still had no idea who she was. I could only guess her name started with an 'A' because of the bag sitting among her boxes.

I shrugged my shoulders and went to work getting my bag ready for my classes tomorrow. I was almost done when the door slammed against the dresser. The bang was quickly followed by a string of curse words that my grandma would have used.

"Do you need any help?" I asked.

"Could you please take the top box. I can hear and see it sliding and I don't want to hurt anyone."

"Oh sure." I said pulling the requested box off. "Angela?" I added once I saw my roommates face.

"Bella? Well there goes the bad roommate theory." Angela said. "I have been so worried that I would be stuck with the roommate from hell."

"Well you don't have to worry about that now. As you can see I already picked my side of the room."

"I didn't care which side of the room I got and you didn't take up the whole room so I am good." Angela replied.

I spent the next few hours helping Angela set up her side of the room. Her side of the room was a bit more girly than mine was. There were subtle differences like she had pictures with both parents and several friends and I only had two or three friends and only one parent appear in my pictures.

"So what classes are you taking?"

"English and several basics. I needed one more so I signed up for criminology."

"Interesting choice there." Angela said. "Is there a reason other than your dad that caused you to pick it?"

"It was either that or a drawing class. I suck majorly at drawing. My horses look like something from a horror movie."

"At least you admit it. Look at all of of the students in the art classes that are no where near bing the next Picasso."

"Very true and look at all the future filmmakers that will do nothing after college other than mooch off their parents."

"I hope I don't have to worry about that." Angela said. "But first day of classes is tomorrow so we will have to see about that tomorrow night."

"Actually you should wait until after the grades for the mid-terms come out and then think about what will happen." I replied.

"Oh I am so nervous about classes tomorrow. I am not sure if I will be able to sleep."

"I don't think I will either.. we can binge on Greys or CSI and junk food If you want."

"Make it Gilmore Girls and you have got a deal."

"Oh me too." I said.

We got what food we wanted to snack on and set up Netflix and precede to watch Gilmore girls until we fell asleep.
