Black Out

His lips were inches away from mine as our breaths intertwined. Makoto had me pinned to the bed with his hands firmly gripped on my wrists. Our heart beats seemed to echo in my ears as our eyes held one another's gently. Thunder roared while the tree branches beat against the glass windows. Makoto cringed and buried his face into the crook of my neck. His breath was hot against my skin which sent a chilling sensation down my spine. My voice quivered as I spoke. "M-Makoto b-by any chance…are you afraid of thunder?" He nodded, then shifted his weight while trembling. I gently wrapped my arms around him while rubbing his back, hoping this would calm him. "It's ok Makoto." I whispered into his ear. He then lifted his face millimeters above mine and smiled. I stared into his eyes as I now places my hands at the nape of his neck. The millimeters seemed to be miles as our faces leaned into one another.

"Onii-chan!" With that his door flung open which startling me into pulling Makoto into me. Our lips met in a brief sweet kiss. Ran stood in the doorway shining a bright light into our now bright red faces. We then pulled away from each other and sat upright on his bed. Judging by wide-eyed expression followed by her jaw touching the ground… she totally saw EVERYTHING! "Gross! Onii-chan you pervert!" I refused to look at Makoto as I mentally began slapping myself.

"Ran it isn't what it looks like." He protested while touching his lips. I could still feel the sensation of his warm lips as if they were still on mine. Another roll of thunder came in which triggered the lights to return. Ran shook head causing her long dark locks to hit the sides of her cheeks. She tried to play it off as if she saw nothing.

"Man is it pouring outside!" She said with a nervous laugh as she placed a hand to the back of her head. "Well mom and dad our downstairs making dinner."

"Ok I'll help out in a minute." He stood up and walked toward her.

"Ok." She said with a wink and with that she was off. Makoto turned back to face me; his sweet green eyes moved with emotion while his cheeks seemed to be stained pink.

"I'm so sorry!" He said slightly bowing.

"For what? I was the one who moved and caused the k-kiss." I stuttered on the last word. He then erupted in laughter which made my eye brows furrow in confusion.

"You must think I'm a dork for getting that scared!" I shook my head as the laughter continued. I walked over to him and grabbed both of his hands with a slight squeeze.

"No. Actually it's kind of cute." We both smiled at each other.

"You're staying for dinner." He slid one of his hands out of my grasp to open the door as the other hand found the small of my back and lightly pushed me forward.

"Yes sir!" I said in a teasing tone. My heart was still racing from the kiss and my lips burned for more. As we exited his room and went down the staircase his hand grasped my small one. I faintly heard some dialog coming from what I guessed was the family room.

"I just don't see things the way he does…I just don't see how a world that makes such wonderful things. Could be bad?"

"Ah The Little Mermaid my favorite." Everyone turned to look at me and Makoto entering the living room. Old paintings hung on the wall, two large couches took up most of the space in there, while the TV sat on its very own stand. Ren looked annoyed as Ran's ears perked up hearing Ariel begin to sing.

"Are you staying for dinner?" Asked a very tall man kindly. Holy cow Makoto and his dad have the fame facial structure.

"Yea she is." Makoto spoke up now releasing my hand to go help out with dinner.

I figured the kitchen looked way too crowded with 3 people already in it. Plus I would probably only get in the way. So I went to sit beside Ren and Ran.

"Ugh this is like the 100th time we have watched this." Ren growled as his cheeks puffed up in a heated pout.

"Well Mizuki said this was her favorite so were not changing it!" Ran huffed as she cuddled into my side humming along with the song. I smiled at this and continued watching the movie.

"Dinners ready!" Mrs. Tachibana hollered. The twins jumped out of their seats within seconds and ran toward the dining room. I shuffled over to find to find a vacant seat beside Makoto. The dishes on the table contained mixed vegetables, Mashed Potatoes. And pork chops.

"Very American. Looks delicious." I commented

"Yea mom's been experimenting with western cuisine lately." Makoto said while filling his plate with food.

"So Mizuki. Makoto tells me your some famous swimmer?" His dad asked. He wore glasses and had short brown hair.

"I guess you could call it that. My last year of middle school I ended up getting scouted. It's unusual for a swimmer to get that much recognition in middle school." I paused and filled my plate while trying my best not to freak out. Who wouldn't get nervous talking to the parents of the guy you…like. "You don't really get recognized till high school…They said I'd be able to make it onto the USA team if it kept up." I chewed a spoonful of mashed potatoes as I thought about that last sentence. Hah… how silly of me to believe that it could actually happen.

"Wow onee-chan is going to be an Olympic Swimmer!" Ren and Ran said in unison while their eyes moved in awe.

"That was the plan." I said slowly.

"Was?" Makoto's mother asked with a raised brow.

"I don't know if that's what I want anymore." I picked at my vegetables realizing how much time I wasted on that silly dream.

"Well you still have time to decide." His dad said with a warm smile.

"What about you?" I turned to look at Makoto who was eating quietly. He dropped his fork surprised by the sudden conversation switch to him.

"Same boat. I don't really know." He said underneath the table while trying to retrieve his fork.

"Well you only have one year left honey." His mom stated in a worried tone.

"I know." His head dropped in exhaustion.

"Isn't you friend Rin training hard for the Olympics?" The question was geared toward Makoto, but I answered it anyway.

"I believe so."

"Oh you know Rin as well?" asked.

"Yea were friends. I also know his sister Kou."

"Oh you should have seen them when they were little such adorable children!" His mother beamed thinking about the good old days.

"Um… was Haru always well. Quiet?" I couldn't help but ask. His mom made a nervous laugh as she started putting our dishes into the sink.

"Haru has always been …Haru." Figures. Then an idea struck me. Since we were on the topic of childhood it wouldn't be to evil to ask right? Hmmm maybe just evil enough. I lightly snickered toward Makoto who gave me a puzzled look.

"Mrs. Tachibana." I said with a sweet voice.

"Yes dear?"

"You wouldn't so happen to have any baby pictures of Makoto? Hmmm?" I gave her a bright smile as I batted my long eyelashes.

"Why yes I do! What kind of silly question is that honey?" There was a skip in her step as she walked me over to the family room. As she pulled out a dusty old photo album, Makoto joined me on the couch while whining.

"Mom...!"

"Oh hush let your girlfriend see how adorable you were!" He didn't protest about the girlfriend part. Instead he just placed his hand over mine that was placed beside my thigh, and let out a long sigh.

"Fine." He pouted as his cheeks puffed slightly. For the following half hour we had gone through three albums containing the years from infancy all the way through middle school. Along with every album Mrs. Tachibana coed over the past and Makoto tried covering the embarrassing pictures, only to be scolded by his mother to let me see. I looked up at the time to see that it was about 10 Pm. Man does time fly…

"I should be heading back." I said standing up to adjust my clothes after sitting for so long.

"I'll walk you home." Makoto then stood up and started heading for the door still blushing from the embarrassment.

"No it's fine." I protested.

"You sure?"

"Yea, it stopped raining so I should hurry before it starts up again." I looked over to Ren and Ran who were passed out on the other couch. I glanced at Mrs. Tachibana

"Thanks for everything." I bowed.

"No problem dear! Come back any time." She smiled warmly. After saying her goodbyes she made her way to the kitchen.

"Alright I will." Under her breath I heard.

"It's so nice Makoto found such a lovely girlfriend." I looked up at Makoto to clearly see he heard his mother too due to his bright red face. I couldn't help but giggle at this. He handed me an umbrella as his face turned back to normal.

"Just in case." He looked concerned.

"Thanks." I opened the door then got on my tippy toes to give him a warm embrace. He held me tightly resting his cheek on my head as I snuggled against his chest. My heart felt as though it would leap out of my chest and I gulped as I felt his heart beat on my ear. It was a soothing lullaby that neither of us wanted to let go. Reluctantly I pulled away first and headed out into the damp summer night.
