As I walked from the room holding Casper and petting his head, I smiled to myself. The metallic taste of Claude's blood still present on my tongue. It was so kind to have saved this kitten from the frigid weather.

"It was a good thing Claude found you, wasn't it, Casper? Yes it was. Yes it was." I said to Casper in a babyish voice, rubbing my nose against his and smiling. He purred, pawing at my cheek and I chuckled. I looked outside a window as I went by, seeing how it was an hour or so before sunrise, so I decided to peek into the kitchen and find out what Claude had spent so much time preparing.

Upon entering the kitchen, the lingering aromas instantly filled my nose as I inhaled. As I stand admiring the delectable scents, Claude walked up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist. I jumped, startling Casper.

"Enjoying yourself?" he mused. Annoyed, I turned to him.

"That wasn't very nice..." I pouted just to receive a laugh in return. He kissed my forehead and pushed me out of the kitchen and into the dining room.

"It's a surprise, and you can wait until dinner to find out," Claude smiled, "in the meantime, how about I make you some breakfast before Alois wakes up to open his presents, hm?" I nodded.

"Alright." I said, returning the smile. And with that, he went back into the kitchen, leaving me in the dining room, decorated to fit the season with garland hanging along the walls and bordering the windows and entry ways as well as around the miniature Christmas tree adorning the table as a centerpiece. It all looked wonderful and well thought out.

As I wandered into the main parlor, the sight was similar except the Christmas tree was on a much larger scale than the one on the dining table. Brightly painted bulbs doted the tree with a golden star mounted on top. Beautifully wrapped presents all tied with neatly done coloured bows scattered beneath the large tree. Garland embroidered the fireplace and stockings labeled with names hanging from the mantel.

Each stocking was filled with little gifts of sweets and other little things inside. Alois, Hannah, Thompson, Timber, Canterbury, and Claude each had one of their very own that had their name on it. The servants here must have each put gifts in the stockings of the others, knowing Alois, he probably hadn't added anything into the other stockings.

Looking around at all the gifts, I smiled bitter sweetly as I was reminded of the Christmases I'd spent at the Phantomhive estate and how I'd celebrated with Ciel and the others who reside on the manor. I settled across crushed velvet cushions of the parlor sofa, laying my head upon the arm rest. Casper watching me from where he stood on my chest. He pounced onto my face and chewed on my nose with his infant teeth. I chuckled at his playful gnawing, the action making him look up at me and meow in his small voice.

"My, isn't this precious." said a rather amused, and all too familiar, voice coming from the entry way. The figure began walking towards the couch, footsteps becoming louder as they drew near, ending directly behind the sofa. Leaning over the back, bright blue eyes stared down at me; blonde strands falling around his face as he did. His chin rested on his folded arms and he smiled.

"What is it, Alois?" I inquired, suspicious of his intentions.

"Someone isn't acting very jolly today." Alois snickered. My eyes flashed a warning crimson glow as I looked up at him, unamused, to which he replied breathily, "No need to get testy.."

"Then answer me." I retorted dryly.

"I just wanted to ask a question." Alois said boyishly.

"Go ahead."

"What's this?" the boy asked, his gaze fixed upon the small feline,

"His name's Casper.. Claude gave him to me as a gift." I couldn't help the smile that came across my lips as I spoke.

"Casper, eh?" repeated the blonde as he reached his hand down, petting the kitten gently. Casper rubbed against Alois, purring innocently. He smiled softly at the sign of affection. The clearing of someone's throat moved our attention back to the entryway.

"Merry Christmas, your majesty. I hope you slept well." Claude greeted Alois in the formal tone he uses, then lifting the cover off the silver tray he was holding, "Would you care for an omelet filled with sautéed mushrooms, diced bell peppers, and topped with melted mozzarella cheese?"

"That sounds delicious!" Alois exclaimed; jumping up and prancing over to his butler, following him to where Claude had prepared an area for him to eat his breakfast. As Alois began to eat, Claude motioned his eyes for me to go into the kitchen. As I walked in, on the counter I was greeted by the welcome sight of bacon, eggs, and a small saucer of milk, undoubtedly for Casper. I grinned as I set Casper beside his breakfast and began hungrily devouring mine.

As Claude entered the room, I was just finishing the meal he so generously prepared for me. He wrapped his arms around my waist, resting his chin on my shoulder as he nuzzles the nape of my neck.

"Thanks for cooking for me." I breathe, content now that my appetite has been satisfied.

"You're welcome," I feel him smile softly against my skin, "I'm just glad you're happy." I chuckle at the soft tone he uses as he speaks. He sighs, his warm breath ghosting across my skin, causing me to shiver.

After Alois opened his gifts, receiving some new clothes consisting of, dress clothes, costumes, other outfits and such. Sweets by the box were expected, but the gift that caught my eye was wrapped in a shiny, royal blue wrapping paper, tied with a black ribbon made into a bow on top. That one was the last the blond opened, tearing off the wrapping and opening the cardboard box, he pulled out a white rabbit dressed in a black and white pin-striped vest with an eye patch covering its right eye. Alois squeals with delight as he hugs the toy. I take in a sharp breath as I stare in stunned silence, my mouth slightly gaping as I see the stuffed animal.

"Bitter Rabbit…" I whisper, unable to say another word. I'm again reminded of Ciel by this gift, one of the many toys made by the young lord's company.. Claude shared a more subtle look of intrigue as he examined the toy from where he sat. Just as the others began opening their own presents, there was a knock at the door. Claude immediately stood and went to see who it was.

After a few moments of waiting silence; Claude entered the room looking rather confused. Or was it surprised? Following him was a young boy, around Alois's age; his eye colour was a piercing deep blue, his gaze firm and his expression unreadable. He bore a cane, rather small might I say, as well as a black trench coat with a hat to match. The most striking feature though was the midnight blue hair that covered the eye patch he wore. I stood up instinctively as I breathed the only words I could manage..

"My lord…"
