If I Die Young – 4:13 (Germany x Italy)

Their resemblance was absolutely uncanny. Every time she saw his face, her heart ached a little, and her mind was pulled back to that day when he held her hand and promised to return.

Sometimes she would stare at him for just a little too long, and he would frown at her and ask what she wanted.

"No. It's nothing, Germany," she replied hastily, and put on a bright grin. "Hey, do you think we can get some pasta later? I want pasta~"

One day she was careless during training, and then before she knew it – a can of paint had flown across the room and the color splattered in puddles of sky blue across the two.

"Italy!" Germany growled, glowering down at the small woman in ponytail. "Watch what you're doing! Now we have to clean this up, and who knows if we can get it all off!"

"Ve…" Italy dropped her head, ashamed for daydreaming. "I'm sorry."

The tall blond man, taken aback by her sudden change in attitude, softened his tone. "…Well, it's no big deal. Go get a push broom."

A push broom…the one she found in the closet looked an awful lot like the one from that day. The one she gave to him.

Holy Rome…you broke your promise. You promised to come back…

Her head filled with memories of the sapphire-eyed boy, she headed back to the room where Germany was.

"Here's a push broom, Holy Rom—"

In a flash, russet met azure, and she felt his hands firmly on the broom, over hers.

Something, like an invisible cloud, faded in the clear blue.

"Italy…!"

Suddenly she was enveloped in his strong arms. And the last mists of doubt cleared away.

"Holy Rome…"she sobbed into his uniform. "You…came back…"

He smoothed her hair back and held her at arm's length. A small smile graced his lips. "How could I not? You are the one that I will love forever…

"Italia."

I've never written anything like this before, so I hope it wasn't too weird.
