Things in Beacon Hills were starting to look up for Spencer. After people got over the shock of her being the new girl Spencer was able to fade into the background and she was fine with that; she had enough of the spot light. Besides she had Derek, and while things were exactly romantic between them (yet) he was exactly what she needed; a friend. Only problem was when things were going good they had a tendency to go really bad, and Spencer was well versed on just how bad things could go.
"Aren't you a little young to be drinking?" Derek questioned as he pulled up the seat next to Spencer.
"According to me ID I'm twenty two well within the legal age to drink." Spencer downed another shot peering at Derek from the corner of her eyes.
"Well you know what they say the bolder the move the less anybody questions it." Spencer actually snickered at herself; laughing at her own joke.
"What?" Derek was confused who ever was sitting in front of him was not the Spencer that he knew. This girl was reckless and flirtatious and while Spencer needed the confidence boost she didn't need it through alcohol.
"Forget it, never mind. So what are you doing here Derek?"
"I was looking for you." Derek regretted the words as soon as they came out of his mouth. How was he suppose to tell her that he followed her scent without telling her his own secret. "Come on let me take you home." Derek tried to coax her off of the stole. She was waisted and under age; she was under age waisted and he didn't think she would escape a charge if the cops busted her.
"No I wanna play a game." Spencer spun around so that she was facing Derek fully.
"Spencer come on. Please just let me take you home." Derek pleaded.
"I'll tell you what if you beat me then I'll go with you." Spencer challenged.
"Deal. So what is this game?" Derek took the shot that the bar tender was placed in front of him.
"We put a minute on the clock and we take turns asking the other questions until the minute is up the one who gets the most truths out of the other wins." It was the very same game that Spencer played against Jenna. She won that time, and she'd win this time too.
"Ok so who goes first?"
"I do. Tell me Derek what is your damage? You clearly know mine. I want to know yours." It was the question that had been bothering Spencer since she met Derek.
"My family burn to death in a fire. Saved for my sister Laura, my uncle Peter, and myself." It was enough truth for now.
"That's not the whole truth is it?" Spencer challenged. "I told you I'm a good little liar."
"I think it's my turn. What happened today that brought you into a bar in the middle of the afternoon?"
"A blast from my past stepped into my present. What's your deal with my cousin?" Spencer jumped right into her next question.
"I'm helping him get better at lacrosse." Again not a total lie since being bitten did make Scott a better lacrosse player.
"Really that's it because he seems to really hate you."
"No one really like their coach." Again not a total lie. "And that was two questions that you got, my turn. I wanna hear more about this past from your past. What did he do?"
"The sub today was my old English teacher. He was also the old boyfriend of one of my best friends. He was using us to write a book about Ali. Set cameras up all over town to spy on us so he would always know what we were doing. He even had some set up in our bedrooms. I bet he got a real kick out of those video's."
That list bit had Derek jaw setting and his eyes flashing anger. If he ever ran into this guy he was going to rip his throat out with his teeth.
"I wanna go home now," and with that the tears came and Spencer was once again crying on Derek shoulder. The pair drove back to Spencer's house in silence. Spencer sobbed quietly while Derek alternated between looking at the road and looking at Spencer.
"I'm not gonna stay here Spencer. I was just out to see my son and they needed a sub." Ezra quickly tried to explain when he saw Spencer stumbling out of the car.
"You mean the son that's not really yours?I mean his mother only used you for your family's money."
"It's nice to see distance hasn't caused you to lose any of your bite Spence." At this point Ezra grabbed Spencer's wrist out of anger.
"You need to take your hands off of her. Now!" Derek commanded.
"Who the hell are you?" Ezra challenged.
"Someone who will hurt you if you don't back off her." Derek forcibly removed Ezra hand from Spencer and lead her into the house without a second glance. It took some doing but he was finally able to get her up the steps and into bed.
"Things were going so good. Why did he have to reuin it?" Derek heard Spencer sob from her bed. Not knowing how to respond he shut her door and made his way to Scott's room.
It was sometime before Scott walked into the room, and the longer Derek waited the angrier he got. "I told you needed to take better care of her."
"Jesus, did you find her?" Scott nearly jumped out of his skin. It still amazed Derek how Scott was not in tune with his werewolf senses.
"Yes in a bar getting waisted." Derek was up in a flash pinning Scott to the door. "You need to start taking better care of her or I will."
"What does that mean?"
"It means that sometimes the wolf take over." And with that Derek jumped out the window leaving Scott both scared and confused.
