Disclaimer: I don't own Grey's Anatomy
" You can show me to the on-call room."
" uhm… why?"
I shouldn't. I… I have Callie… I… love… her? Callie…
" First night post-op, I want to stick around in case something happens."
" Oh, wow you… you poor…poor control freak."
What is this? I… shouldn't be feeling… butterflies in my stomach…
" You really get me."
" I really do. This way."
Why? Why did it happen? I shouldn't… what is wrong with me? I had the perfect family I've always wanted. Why do I keep on messing up everything?
Dr. Arizona Robbins contemplated. She was alone. Alone in the attending's lounge, standing still. She didn't notice her tears falling uncontrollably from her eyes. She is gone. Gone. She tried to remember every piece, every detail on everything they have been through. The first meeting in a dirty bathroom, the first kiss, Africa, Baby, and Car accident everything to the point of the plane crash, amputation, infidelity and finally the break up. She didn't move from her spot. She was afraid that if she moves, everything would crumble.
Beep beep beep
She snapped out of her thoughts and looked at her pager. 911. She didn't care. She just wanted to go. Go to Callie. Go to Sofia and explain everything. But what would she say? She blamed Callie for cutting of her leg. She tried to be her old self but can't. She tried to be rational about everything but failed.
Beep beep beep
Another ring from her pager, she looked at it again, and there it is 911.
I should go. Tiny humans need me.
With a deep breath, ignoring the pain from her amputated leg. She moved and went out.
THE PIT
" I was paged?" Dr. Robbins said, trying to stop her voice from breaking but completely failed.
"Arizona…" Dr. Hunt, Chief of Surgery said in a low tone.
" What?" Arizona had a bad feeling about how Owen's tone. Then she noticed, Karev, Bailey, Kepner, Avery and even Sheperd who should be with his wife were there with their sorry faces.
" What the hell is going on?" Arizona asked now with tears swelling in her eyes. She looked at Bailey expecting for an answer. Bailey looked down and said nothing but Arizona could see her eyes are swell from crying, almost all of them.
" Arizona?" A soft, weak voice called behind. The other doctors looked at who broke the silence except for Arizona. She knew very well the voice. She couldn't stop the tears and let it fell from her eyes.
" Mommy?" an innocent voice called to her. She looked down and saw a drenched and crying Sofia.
" Hey… Sofia." She picked her up and tried to give her the best mommy smiled she could muster.
" Mommy, don't cry…" Sofia wiped the tears from her mom's eye and smiled back. Children are more resilient than adults. They are full of surprises.
" I'm not crying. Why don't you go to uncle Derek. He will take you to Zola." Derek nodded at Arizona and carried Sofia and went to the day care.
After Sofia was off her sight, she wiped her tears and looked at the soft voice that called her and went to the person.
" Arizona… I… lo… lo… love you…"
" Shh… don't talk… it's okay… I won't leave you. I love you too." Arizona said as she placed a gentle kiss on the lips on her caller.
" Ari…zo…na…"
