The Druid

A Victini floated in a small clearing of a thick and lush forest. Her eyes were closed in concentration. Off to the side of the clearing a small yellow fairy-like Pokémon watched the fire type with clear pride upon her face.

"Well done Nicole," Uxie beamed when the Victini finally opened her eyes. "Are we still on course?"

"Close enough, we'll have to adjust back towards the east when we get clear of the mountains," Nicole answered. The Lake guardian noticed the troubled look upon her pupils face as she returned to the simple camp.

"Something the matter?" Uxie asked.

"Yeah, I felt something else besides the flute. I think it might have been another Victini."

"Probably a competitor," the legendary observed.

"I still hold fast to what I said back in Sinnoh. I am not going to kill another Victini," Nicole stated.

"You will have to still deal with them as they will surely try to deal with you, and they will most likely not have taken the same vow you have."

"Even so I will not stoop to their level and commit genocide on my own species," the Victini said as she readied a small stoneware kettle for tea.

"Do you at least know where they are?" Uxie sighed, frustrated with her student.

"They seem to be several days behind us."

"They might already know of you and it is only a matter of time before they catch up," the guardian assessed. "So what do you wish to do?"

"Well my options are rather limited. I can either wait for them and confront them directly or ignore them and potentially allow them to pass us and set up some sort of trap," Nicole formulated. "So, I guess my only option is to let them come to us."

"Yes, about how I saw it," Uxie nodded.

"If we do start to fight I don't want to cause unnecessary destruction here. Too many Pokémon make their home in this forest, so I think we use our head start to our advantage and set the field to benefit me and my training."

"A wise decision, but where do you plan to have this battle ground?" Uxie asked. "This forest stretches on for miles."

"We follow that brook over there upstream and hope to find a larger body of water. I might be able to convince some of the water types there to make it rain," Nicole explained. "I can function in water while a wild Victini might not."

"Well, if we are to find this battleground then we'll have to drink our tea on the fly," the lake guardian nodded.

Far away from the tiny grove another Victini dressed in a simple harness and satchel abandoned his meditation with a deep breath. He had sensed the younger Victini as well as the Lake guardian accompanying her.

"Hm, why would a renowned legendary take interest in her?" he mused aloud. The Victini stretched as loud pops from the fire sounded through the shallow cave.

"At least she's not the spoiled brat that pestered me when she started hearing the Azure Flute," he grumbled.

"Master you are mumbling again," a Victreebel sighed.

"Heh, just thinking aloud Victor," the fire type laughed.

"Is it regarding this competition?" the grass type questioned.

"About the Azure Flute, yes we're close to a… competitor."

"I see, is it the one who…"

"No Victor it's not the little princess that harassed us a few weeks back. No, this one seems to be a lot younger, and possesses an air of naivety," the Victini relayed.

"Young and naive make for easy prey," the Victreebel mused.

"True but I don't believe I will need to harm her. I think her meeting an older and more experienced Victini will more than likely scare her off," the fire type shrugged. "I digress however, she seems to be unaware of my presence so I must catch up."

"I understand, do you wish for your standard kit if she doesn't run?" Victor asked.

"Just a dose of sleep powder, like I said she's just a child so if she doesn't run I'll just drug her and be on my merry way."

"Very well," the Victreebel nodded before he dusted a green powder into a leaf-like pouch. "I will do what I can to catch up."

"I will wait up for you when I deal with this competitor."

"I will see you then Zander," The flytrap Pokémon smiled before the Victini took the powdered filled leaf and left the shallow cave.

Zander had never been very fast as he preferred to take it easy and let life go at its own pace, but now he had no time to stop to smell the flowers. This competitor had a substantial Lead on him and was widening the gap.

Nicole rested next to a small fire as she stretched the days travel from her wings.

"Whoever is chasing us seems to be very slow," the Victini remarked.

"Perhaps they are saving some strength for a fight," Uxie offered.

"I'll still have the advantage if it comes to that. Besides, I think they will be put off guard when I serve them some tea."

"Take care, they might be paranoid," The lake guardian advised.

"If they attack, then I will defend myself," Nicole shrugged.

Uxie gave a defeated sigh but let the topic go as she started to sense the presence of the other Victini.

Zander neared the small encampment just as the sun was casting the last of its light across the tiny pond. The smell of a small fire and tea greeted his nose, and he knew that they had set the arena for any potential battle that might break out between the two-opposing fire-types. The tea stuck out in the older Victini's mind however and a small smirk found its way onto the Pokémon's face.

"Naive but confident," he thought to himself.

"Welcome, you must be tired," the younger Victini greeted as he descended into the camp. Zander instinctively hid the leafy pouch that held the sleep powder.

"Greetings," he pleasantly smiled. "Sorry if you had to wait long, I've never been very fast."

"It's no trouble, but come we have tea ready," the young fire- type beamed. As the Victini led the way Zander stowed the sleep powder into his satchel just as he caught sight of Uxie 'eyeing' him suspiciously.

"My name is Nicole," the younger Victini spoke causing Zander's attention to shift back to the other competitor.

"Uh, Zander a pleasure to meet you," he replied. The elder fire-type sized the younger up as she fetched a small teapot from the fire. His nose also sampled the air left in the female's wake and through her natural scent he picked up the faint odor of human.

"You mated with a human?" he asked. Nicole froze with teapot still in hand.

"Yes, Victini were pretty scarce when I was growing up," Nicole defended.

"No, no I understand you take your pleasures where you can get them," Zander placated. "But let us not let the tea get cold."

"Right," the younger nodded before she started to pour the tea.

"So where are you from Zander?" Uxie asked as she joined the two Victini.

"Orange Islands originally, but I left for personal reasons and settled in a remote area in Kanto."

"Is that where the other Victini are?" Nicole asked.

"A small family but last I heard they were wiped out by the local legendary I think," The elder answered before taking a sip from the tea. He grimaced from the liquid as he pulled the cup away.

"This is not tea, if you don't mind l have a proper set of tea leaves," Zander said as he pulled a leaf pouch from his satchel. He gently took the teapot from Nicole and dumped out the contents.

"I shall be right back," he smiled with a gesture toward the pond.

"Oh, we have a water bottle," Nicole offered.

"Ah, thank you," Zander thanked. The Victini silently cursed as he took the water and filled the tea pot. He set the pot onto the fire and helped the water boil with his pyrokinetic powers.

"You know considering your generosity I am going to treat you to my favorite tea," The older fire- type smiled warmly as he produced another leaf packet and pierced it with his teeth.

"So, what takes you so far from your mate?" Zander asked as the tea brewed.

"The Azure Flute."

"I see, you must miss him terribly."

"I do, but we figured out a way to keep in touch," Nicole sighed with a happy smile.

"I don't need the details," Zander laughed causing the younger fire-type to blush. "However, since you did bring up the topic of the Azure Flute I must ask to what your motives are?"

"I intend to destroy it. Why do you seek it?" Nicole asked.

"Why do you wish to destroy it?" The elder deflected.

"It's difficult to explain, but I feel that it is the right thing to do."

"Ah, well I do believe the tea is ready," Zander pointed out.

"You have yet to answer Nicole's question," Uxie observed.

"Well our goals are close enough aligned that we won't have to settle our differences," The elder chuckled nervously as he poured the tea. Nicole turned a harsh scowl towards him for he was caught. Zander quickly dug into his satchel and flung the sleeping powder at the two females. In a burst of green light, the packet exploded and showered the pair with the verdant powder.

"Naïve but smart," Zander sighed as the powder took effect. The Victini wasted no time tying up the unconscious Pokémon before he set to work ransacking the camp for anything valuable.

Nicole woke to her hands bound and camp in a mess. She saw Zander asleep with obvious berry stains upon his fur.

"He's nothing more than a thief," Nicole observed.

"I suspect he has an ally that he is waiting for," Uxie added. "I suggest we find a way to escape these bonds before they arrive."

"If we weren't together I'd just burn through the ropes," the Victini grumbled. "But we do have allies here."

"Arthur's tactical mind has certainly rubbed off on you," the lake guardian laughed. Nicole extended her psychic power into the small pond until her mind found the powerful presence resting at its bottom.

"Okay, he's on his way," the Victini announced. A few moments later a Dewott emerged from the water.

"Thank you Mako," Nicole thanked when the otter-like Pokémon used one of his shells to cut through the bindings.

"It's no problem miss Nicole," the water-type beamed once he freed the two Legendary Pokémon.

"After all it's the least I could do for the one who..."

Nicole quickly shushed the Dewott with a gesture towards the still sleeping Zander.

"Mako, I am going to need you to make it rain."

"Sure," the otter shrugged before he formed a ball of water and casted it into the air. As the rain started Nicole dug deep into her psychic power and pulled forth a crackling ball of electricity. Zander started to stir from the rain when Nicole launched the shockwave. The bolt proved to be a very effective alarm clock for the Victini as electricity coursed through his body.

"What the fuck!" The Victini exclaimed.

"You got lucky with that sleep powder Zander but now I am pissed, and you better hope I didn't miss a call from my mate," Nicole growled.

"Heh uh, I yield!" the elder gulped.

"Then take off your bag and keep your hands where I can see them," Nicole commanded.

"Okay, okay just don't shock me again," Zander pleaded as he slowly slid the satchel to the ground. "It just slows me down."

Before Nicole could react, Zander charged forward with a headbutt. The blow knocked the wind out of the younger Victini but she still managed to push him away with a blast of psychic energy.

"That was a cheap trick," Nicole coughed.

"What can I say, I'm headstrong," Zander shrugged.

"More like you're full of it, I've taken harder hits from Magikarp."

"Ouch, sounds like I did more damage to your pride," the elder smirked.

"You wish," Nicole huffed as she readied a ball of ghostly energy.

"Guess I shouldn't be surprised, you did bed a human," Zander shrugged. Nicole smiled as she watched her opponent focus psychic energy to his forehead. The Victini launched himself forward towards the younger Pokémon with a surprising burst of speed. Nicole easily danced to the side but she realized too late that she wasn't the target. Zander smashed into Mako with force enough to shatter bone. The Dewott flew back into a tree with a crash but miraculously he managed to return to his feet. Nicole had a flash back to when Link was injured and she went berserk. The smaller Victini grabbed Zander by the wings and dragged him into the air.

"Hey, you brought in a water-type to make it rain, he was a valid target!" Zander protested as Nicole dragged him away from the camp.

"That hit wasn't meant to faint, it was meant to kill!" Nicole snapped.

"Can you fault me? You hit me with electricity!"

"That was never meant to kill!" The younger yelled as she tossed her opponent into the open air. Zander righted himself and charged for Nicole. Both seemed evenly matched but Nicole's greater experience proved to be the deciding factor when she smashed a shadow ball into Zander's face. The elder Victini fainted from the terrible blow and began to freefall. Nicole quickly caught the falling fire type and lowered him back down to the forest floor. Uxie rushed over to see her student victorious as she used Zander's harness as makeshift bindings.

"Is Mako alright?" Nicole asked once she was satisfied with the Victini's immobilization.

"Cracked ribs, he'll need you to see to them once you are done with him."

"He's not going anywhere," The female sighed. "Let's see to Mako."

"What do you intend to do with him?" The lake guardian asked.

"Too dangerous to turn him loose, but I think we can take him with us."

"Very well, we might still learn his motives, however we must be vigilant to keep him from escaping, that battle seemed too tame for a battle between two Victini."

"I know what you mean, he seemed to be holding back like he was gauging my strength," Nicole nodded as she floated over to the injured Dewott.

"Then he is not to be unbound at night," Uxie assessed.

"I'll be fine Miss Nicole," Mako coughed, but the Victini ignored the water Pokémon and lit her hand with pink energy. Zander woke to the pink light that shone from the younger Victini and watched on in disbelief.

"That's not possible," he breathed as he watched the pink aura heal the damage left by his attack.

"I thought Victini couldn't heal?" The water-type balked.

"We can't," Zander spoke still not believing what he just witnessed. Nicole turned to the bound Victini with an expression of disinterest as she finished healing the Dewott.

"I can," she declared. "I don't know why and I don't know how but I know that my healing is far more powerful than any heal pulse or wish produced by any other Pokémon."

Zander swallowed once before he began to speak.

"I misjudged you and seeing your gift I realize your motive is the will of Arceus and I cannot go against our god's will," he lamented. "Unbind me and I shall grant you whatever aid I can."

Nicole and Uxie exchanged confused and worried looks once Zander finished.

Well now that is an interesting turn of events do you all trust Zander? More Importantly do you think Nicole and Uxie will trust him. sorry for the long wait but I promise I will start picking up the pace.
