Garden of Roses
Ch.5
Disclaimer: I do not own Hetalia or Ib.
Luckily for Garry and England they were able to find a room to rest in for awhile. The room had a few bookcases, there was a poster hung up on the wall, and there was a large painting hanging on the wall that was titled 'Untitled'. There was also gray vase filled with water sitting on a little table in the room. While no one needed to have their roses healed it was comforting to have the gray vase there. England gently placed Ib on the ground and Garry just took his coat off and gently placed it over her.
Ib muttered something under her breath, but after wiggling around a little she quickly fell silent again. England just smiled as he brushed some of Ib's hair out of her face. Garry sat down and watched as England made sure that Ib was comfortable enough.
"You're really good with kids aren't you?" Garry asked.
England just walked over to Garry and sat down next to him.
"I had to take care of my younger siblings a lot so that's how I learned to take care of children." England said.
Of course when England said little siblings he really meant his old colonies, but Garry didn't need to know that.
Garry just smiled before he said "I'm an only child so I didn't have to help take care of any younger siblings. I would babysit for my aunt every once in awhile though."
England glanced over at the sleeping Ib before he looked back over at Garry.
"We are going to be here for awhile so you want to talk?"
Garry just smiled and said "Sure, so why where you at the gallery?"
"A couple of my co-workers were talking about it, and I was curious enough that I decided to come and see the art." England answered. "What about you?"
"I had heard about Guertena before and I always wanted to see his artwork, but if I would have known that this would happen I would have stayed home." Garry said.
England chuckled a little before he said "Same here, but at least by being here we can help Ib escape."
"True…" Garry said as he looked over at Ib.
"She's a tough kid." Garry said.
"Yeah, but I think this is all starting to get to her." England said.
"I think it's getting to all of us." Garry said.
England didn't reply to that, but he didn't have to. It was true and no amount of words would be able to change it. Garry just shook his head and quickly changed the subject.
"So your co-workers told you about this place? Where do you work?" Garry asked.
"I work for the government. I just got out of a world meeting when I decided to come here."
"Wow, so you you're represent England in these meetings?"
England just nodded his head before he said "Yes, but going to world meetings is just one of my duties."
"Sounds like a lot of responsibility to me. You look so young too, but you have so much to do." Garry said. "How old are you?"
"Twenty-four." England quickly said. He had just chosen a random number and used it as his age.
"You're only a couple of years older than me." Garry said.
'Oh trust me I'm way older than a couple of years.' England thought.
"How old are you?" England asked.
"I'm only twenty-one." Garry answered.
England started to think of another question that he could ask, but before he could ask anything Garry blurted out a sudden question.
"Are you single?" Garry asked.
England gave Garry a blank look, and Garry started to blush in embarrassment.
"You don't have to answer that if you don't want to." Garry said as he quickly looked away.
England just shook his head before he said "I don't have any special guy or girl in my life."
Garry looked at England in surprise before he said "You play for both teams?"
England just chuckled before he said "Yes, I do. Why does that bother you?"
Garry quickly shook his head before he said "No it doesn't. I'm the same."
England smiled a little before he asked "Well then do you have a boyfriend or girlfriend?"
"No, I'm single." Garry answered.
Garry looked like he wasn't sure where to take the conversation from there, and it kind of made England wonder why he even bothered asking the question. England decided to finally help the poor guy out so he asked "Do you have any hobbies?"
Garry blushed in embarrassment, but he seemed pretty happy for the subject change.
"I like to sew things." Garry said.
England just looked at Garry in surprise, and Garry just started to blush again.
"Please don't laugh."
England almost started to laugh upon hearing Garry say that, but he was able to stop himself.
"Why would I laugh at the fact that you like to sew?" The nation asked.
Garry shrugged before he looked down at the ground and said "A lot of people always say it's not exactly a manly hobby."
England just snorted a little before he said "Then those people are a bunch of idiots."
Garry looked at England in surprise and England just smiled.
"If you like to sew then you like to sew. It's a perfectly nice hobby, and I see no problem with it." The nation said.
England then crossed his arms and said "Besides I like embroidery so it would be wrong if I laughed at you for likening to sew of all things."
Garry just looked at England in surprise before he said "You like embroidery?"
"Yes, I do." England said. "Is that so surprising?"
Garry just shrugged before he said "I don't know you just don't like the type of person to like that."
"Should I take that as a compliment or an insult?" England asked.
Garry gave him a worried look, and he honestly looked like he didn't know what to say. England watched him flounder about trying to figure out what to say for a few minutes, but after watching the man struggle for an answer the nation finally decided to have mercy on the blue eyed man.
"You don't need to worry so much I was only joking."
Garry breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that and England just chuckled a little. Having decided that they should move on from the hobby question England quickly changed the subject.
"So are you in collage?"
Garry nodded a little before he said "Yeah, I want to be a fashion designer."
England hadn't expected to hear that.
The nation looked at the man in slight surprise before he said "Really? You want to be a fashion designer?"
Garry just chuckled and nodded before he said "A lot of people sound surprised when they hear me tell them that."
England shrugged before he said "It's not what I expected to hear, but I guess I shouldn't be too surprised."
England shook his head before he said "Make sure to invite me to one of your fashion shows once you hit it big."
Garry just laughed a little before he asked "Would you really be interested in watching a fashion show?"
"No I wouldn't be, but I would show up for support." England answered honestly.
Garry just chuckled before he said "Well, your support would be appreciated. I doubt that I would make it big, but thanks for the vote of confidence."
England smiled a little before he asked "So do you have a job?"
"I work at a café. It doesn't pay a lot, but it gives me enough money to survive." Garry said.
England just nodded at this, but he didn't say anything. The conversation was pretty much over after that so Garry stood up from his spot on the floor and walked over to the bookcases.
"I'm going to look through some of these books. There might be something in them that could something in them that could help us out." Garry said.
England stood up as well and slowly made his way over to the bookcases as well.
"Considering how things seem to work in this place you might be right about their being something useful in the books." England said.
"That or we could just end up finding some interesting books to read anyway." Garry replied.
England just laughed a little as he started to look through the books. None of the books where very interesting so England decided to look at the poster instead. He was slightly surprised to see that it had a list of rules written on it.
-No eating or drinking
-No photographs
-No yelling
-No leaving ever
England thought about telling Garry about the poster, but he quickly decided against it. Garry was probably better off not knowing about the no leaving ever rule. Honestly, England sort of wished that he hadn't seen it himself. It wasn't the worst thing that he had ever seen in this place, but it did remind him about just how stuck they all were.
They were traveling deeper and deeper into the gallery in hopes that they would finally find an exit, but the possibility that there wasn't an exit to this place drifted about in the nations mind. The green eyed nation didn't know if his companions ever thought of this, but if they did they certainly didn't say these thoughts out loud.
'If I had my spell books I could just use my magic to get us out of here.' England thought.
Unfortunately, England didn't have his spell books and he didn't know any spells off the top of his head that could get them out of here. It was pretty depressing to think about how they were stuck here, and just thinking about it made England feel tired and hopeless. The nation quickly shook his head and sighed. Thinking about how screw they were wasn't going to do them any good right now.
England pushed his negative thoughts to the back of his mind and started to look around the room. He really needed to think of something else and luckily enough this room had enough things in it to keep him distracted for a couple of minutes if nothing else. England was about to go and look at the painting, but when he heard Ib gasp. England quickly looked over at Ib only to see her wake up. Once she was awake she sat up and started to look around the room. Garry placed the book that he was holding down on the top of the bookshelf that he was standing in front of before he moved over to Ib's side.
"Hey, did you sleep well?" Garry asked.
Ib just shook her head and said "I had a bad dream."
Garry frowned a little before he said "You poor thing…"
"Considering where we are I can't say I'm surprised." England said as he moved over to the painting.
Garry just hummed out an agreement before he smiled a little at Ib.
"Ib why don't a take a look in the pocket of that coat."
England looked over at them just in time to see Ib pull out a small yellow candy from the coat pocket.
"You can have it. Feel free to eat it whenever you want." Garry said.
Garry smiled at Ib before he said "We can rest here for a while until you're ready to go."
Ib just nodded and Garry walked away from her and went back to the book that he had been reading. England watched as she stood up from her spot on the floor before she picked the jacket up. Ib walked over to Garry and held his jacket out toward him. Garry smiled gratefully at the girl before he took the jacket from her and put it back on.
"Thank you Ib." Garry said.
Ib smiled a little upon hearing that, but her smile disappeared as quickly as it had appeared.
The girl examined Garry for a few seconds before she asked "Why is your coat all torn and ragged?"
"Oh, that's on purpose. It's just the way that the coat was designed." Garry said.
The man then frowned as he crossed his arms and said "Although, I have been wearing it for many years now."
"So is it part of the design or is it just wear and tear?" England asked.
"Maybe it's a little of both." Garry suggested.
England didn't say anything to that, and Ib seemed satisfied with the answer. Garry just looked at the girl for a few seconds before he randomly said "Say Ib you got a pretty good fashion sense, huh?"
Ib stared at the man in confusion and Garry quickly said "I mean, your cloths…. They use some fine-quality cloth, don't they?"
Ib just shrugged before she said "My mother picked them out for me."
"Really? Well, your mother as good fashion sense." Garry said.
"So says Garry the fashionista." England said.
"Hey!" Garry shouted.
England just laughed before he said "I'm just getting back at you for the marriage joke."
"I was just saying that to lighten the mood." Garry grumbled.
England just chuckled and shook his head before he turned his attention back to the painting. Ib was quite for a few seconds before she asked "Why do you talk like a lady?"
England couldn't help but laugh upon hearing that. The question was so unexpected and the nation really didn't know where that question came from. England didn't really think Garry talked like a girl, but Ib seemed to think differently. However, while England didn't think Garry talked like a girl he definitely did think the man sounded a bit like a girl when he screamed but England decided to keep that to himself. Garry reacted to the question a bit better then England did because after he shoot England a harsh glare for laughing he looked back at Ib and smiled a little.
"Why do I talk like a lady? I don't know." Garry said. "I just took to it I suppose. After all, it's preferable to be gentle rather than rough, hm?"
Ib just nodded and England did his best to keep himself from laughing again. Seemingly satisfied with the answers that she got Ib walked over to where England was standing.
She started at the painting that England was looking at before he said "Untitled?"
"Yeah, I saw that too." Garry said. "So do you think it's the title or do you think it was just never named?"
"I think it's the name." Ib said.
England just shrugged before he said "I think the only one who knows the answer to that question would be the person who painted it."
Garry didn't say anything to this, and Ib stayed quiet. The red eyed girl stared at the painting for a few more minutes before she quietly walked away from it. England watched her go, and he didn't say a word when he saw Ib approach the door. Upon seeing Ib walk toward the door Garry placed his book back onto the shelf and looked over at the girl.
"Are you ready to go?" Ib just nodded her head, and upon seeing her nod England slowly moved over to the door.
Once England was standing next to the door Garry smiled before he said "OK, let's get going."
England opened the door, and once the door was opened the trio went back out into the gallery….
OK, so that chapter is done. They mostly just talked in this chapter, but we will be getting back to the action in the next chapter. Anyway, info time!
Garry the fashion designer: Garry actually mentions fashions a few times in the game so that made me think that maybe he really interested in fashions. With this thought I started to think that it could be possible that Garry may have wanted to be a fashion designer so that's why I used it here.
Garry talks like a lady: Here's a fun fact for you all. According to the Ib wiki Garry speaks using what is basically the Japanese equivalent of lavender linguistics. However, this was mostly lost during the English translation of the game. Garry doesn't really sound much like a lady in the English version of the game, but you can still ask why he sounds like a lady. Since you can still ask the question in the English version of the game I decided to have Ib ask the question here. No reason as to why I decided that I just did it for fun.
Anyway, I'll try and get the next chapter out as soon as possible so please review and don't flame.
