Disclaimer: I do not own the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, nor the characters associated with it.

A/N: Sorry it took so long to update, a loooot of different stuff came up, and well...yeah. Anyway I maybe a bit rusty with certain peoples personalities and such as a result of it, however since Percy does have a different godly parent I do wanna try and make her seem more Zeus-like, if that makes sense.

Other than that Enjoy and if you like feel free to leave a review:)

Chapter Four: Curiousity

Persephone I

Percy had been furious.

She threw glances at each of her friends standing around her. Percy had never been one to give evil looks, but right now the look she was giving was a perfect ten on the 'evil' scale, making them all shift in discomfort.

She may not be a daughter of Athena (thank the gods for that!), but -add something here-. She still didn't like being out of the loop though. Knowing her friends were holding back on her nearly drove her up the wall, and Zeus be darned if she wasn't going to get to the bottom of it.

"So," She said drawing out the word, folding her arms sternly. "Anyone wanna enlighten me?"

She didn't need Annabeths sense of intuition, or sharp intellect to notice how her friends tensed at the mention of the new kids name and just how much her best friend's fingers had inched toward the dagger strapped to her thigh. It was one thing to be cautious, but Percy thought the way they were acting was borderline paranoid.

"He's dangerous Percy." Was all Annabeth said. Something in her tone pleaded for the subject to be dropped. Percy refused to budge however, she wanted answers.

"He's a demigod. One of us." It was Luke this time that spoke up. Not once did he meet her eyes, but there was a slight tremble in his voice. "But he-he's different. A monster." Luke said. His blue eyes flicked in the direction Grover had gone with Oswald. "That guy... he's trouble Percy, like maybe even Kronos level trouble."

Percy herself could understand if he was a child of the Big Three. Heck, he looked like he could probably pass for Nico's brother if anything. But still, she couldn't bring herself to believe anyone could be as bad as Kronos.

"You know him then?" Percy asked, well demanded may have been a better word. "How?"

When none of her friends answered, she resisted the heavy urge to roll her eyes at them. She settled for stomping her foot in frustration. Seriously, what was with these guys all of a sudden?

"Once, back when I was still siding with Kronos aboard the princess Andromeda," He drew in a deep breath, exhaling it in a shaken manner as though recalling something unpleasant. "I met him. It was only for a short while, maybe even a few minutes we had been in each others company..."

Percy furrowed her brows waiting for him to continue. But she was only disappointed when Luke merely shook his head.

"There's a reason he's the only child of Death Percy, It's dangerous for him to even exist." Luke added trying to sound firm. He realized he may have just made things more uncomfortable when all three children of the Big three shared a look that said they knew the feeling.

"Death? You mean Nico's dad?" Percy asked looking towards said Son of Hades who merely shook his head no.

"No, he means Thanatos. God of Death, reaper of souls." Annabeth said in a matter-of-fact tone, rolling her eyes at her best friends slowness. Percy tried not to scowl in return. "Thanatos is a son of Nyx Percy, do you know what that means?"

"Uhhh, he likes the dark?" The daughter of Zeus said slowly, scratching her head for a moment. It was too early in the morning for her to be thinking this much.

"Do you even know who Nyx is, you dumb sparkplug?" Thalia interjected with an arched brow.

"Yes! ...but uhh, refresh my memory anyway."

The others groaned, some rolling their eyes.

Grover

Grover felt anxious.

His eyes darted around the room, too nervous to stare at Oswald for too long, but not wanting to settle for staring at Chiron the whole time.

It was unnerving to him how calm and together Oswald looked in the presence of the other two. Part of him was able to dismiss it as being part of the whole deadly assassin deal; which didn't help his nerves any. Then he realized Chiron must have picked up on the boy's obsidian eyes looking between him and Mr. D.

He was watching them without batting an eye. Studying them, every movement, every breath they took.

It made the tension in the air thicken a bit, two of the others feeling he was about to strike when the third finally bothered to speak up.

"So, your Deathbreath's son." Dionysus introduced, in a bored tone. Only Oswald took notice of the faint glimmer of caution that flashed through his eyes. He heard him mumble something in ancient greek that sounded eerily like 'Wife must have been a looker...'.

"You've made quite a name for yourself, haven't you?" He said turning his attention back to his hand of cards. "How many non-magical beings have you killed again?" He asked meaning for it to sound like an off-handed comment, sending a small shiver up Grover's spine when the satyr noticed something dangerous flare in Oswald's eyes.

He had to give the guy some credit, most probably would have lashed out after a comment like that, but he could also think of at least one who certainly would.

"I'm afraid I've lost count sir." Oswald said, somehow managing a polite smile to hide the boiling rage he felt coil within him. His obsidian eyes looked like they flared a ruby red for a moment, furthering Grover's desire to get out and as far away from the room as soon as possible. "However, I don't think that's really what you called me here to talk about, now is it?"

The wine god scoffed. His eyes narrowed. For a moment Grover thought maybe he was getting ready to say some sort of ancient greek curse to Oswald. He covered his ears just in case.

"Cheeky little brat, aren't you?" Mr. D mused. "Or did she not raise you to respect your elders perhaps? Then again, they never do. That's the problem with mortals, give them an inch and they take a mile, then they wonder why they always end up dead."

The smile melted off Oswalds face falling into a line. He decided to turn his attention to the other occupant of the room, not wanting to lash out at anyone. His fingers digging into the fabric of his jeans until Grover swore he saw blood.

Chiron wheeled himself forward to greet the new demigod, sounding more sincere than Mr. D before him.

"In any case, welcome Oswald to Camp Half-Blood. As to why your here, well..." the wheelchair-bound man trailed off uncertainly. Oswald heaved a sigh.

"Is it about my father then?"

The question seemed to catch the elder man by surprise, leaning forward in his chair.

"You mean you've met him?" Chiron asked watching Oswald nod.

"Once." The assassin said sounding neither thrilled nor spiteful which worried Chiron. Grover didn't understand why, but Chiron then leaned back over and started whispering something to Mr. D. His hooves clomped against the ground nervously. He didn't like the others' grim expressions. Even as it turned into a more cheerful mood when Chiron looked back at Oswald, it was still rather tense.

"Tell me Oswald, have you noticed anything strange after your fathers visit perhaps?" He inquired. "Or has anyone else come to see you?"

"With all due respect, in my line of work there are quite a few oddballs and such, so if you could be more specific?" Oswald said, his expression staying neutral. His posture stayed relaxed yet professional. He was looking between the other two, searching for something to give away whatever it was they weren't saying out loud.

"What do you know about your father Oswald?"

"He is the god of Death. Lieutenant to Hades, Reaper of souls." The words sounded automatic like he had said them plenty times over. The frown that settled on his face made it clear that while he didn't openly detest his father, he wasn't his biggest fan. Not that Grover could blame him in a way. After all, how can anyone imagine being close to someone as... offsetting as Death?

"He spends most of his time down in the underworld."

Chiron nodded along with Oswalds words, his hand going against his scraggly beard mulling something over in silence.

"You seem to be quite knowledgeable already regarding things of the magical world Oswald, though I can take a guess as to why... I feel perhaps that is a conversation for another time."

"Grover," Mr. D's voice broke in abruptly, drawing the other three's attention. "Are you going to play or not?"

Grover blinked not quite understanding, then he realized the god was referring to the ongoing game of Pinochle. Stuttering out a response he pulled up a chair and flopped down on it, all the while choosing to eye Mr. D's forgotten can of Diet cola.

"As for you Deathspawn," Mr. D said shifting his gaze onto Oswald. "If you're not going to play then feel free to leave. I'm sure Persephie or Annie Belle would be more than willing to give the newbie a tour."

Oswald looked confused, glancing at Chiron for clarification as to who it was Mr. D just named.

"Ah, I believe he means Persephone or Annabeth." Chiron who had been in wheelchair form up until that point started to rise, standing on all four horse legs trotting towards the door of the Big House.

"He is part horse. A centaur." Oswald mumbled.

"Well, aren't you the smart one." Mr. D said sarcastically, looking over his hand again and then towards Grover munching on his empty can.

"Ouch!" A loud yelp sounded the moment Chiron opened the door. Three-no, four bodies falling in, one on top of the other. Grover stopped chewing long enough to identify Persephone as the first one who fell in, then Annabeth, followed of course by Thalia and Luke.

"Uhhh..." Percy groaned looking up first seeing Chiron, then Grover and Mr. D, and finally him.

"Percy, Annabeth, Thalia, Luke, what are you all doing outside the door?" Chiron asked not missing their eyes turning to look somewhere else. Annabeth was the first to step forward after they each picked themselves up off the floor.

"Percy set another instructor on fire!" Thalia blurted.

"I did not!" Percy hissed giving a vicious kick to her blue-eyed friend. "It was an accident."

Chiron heaved a sigh seeming to age a few more years before their eyes, muttering something about how he would get an Apollo camper. He turned to look over his shoulder pausing in thought, then choosing to address Percy.

"Percy, while I take care of that, would you be so kind as to get our new camper settled in?"

An eery silence hung in the air before Percy nodded slowly, Her eyes never leaving Oswald's.

"Oswald I'll leave you in Percy's care then." Chiron announced, trotting out the door and down a hill towards the infirmary.

Persephone II

"Sooo..." Percy began at a loss for words.

Oswald stood up and the first thing Percy noticed was that he was just a few inches taller than her. Well damn it all, she thought with a subtle twitch of her brow. Second, she noticed the odd aura of, was it power she felt around him?

Maybe. If that was the case she thought it best to keep her distance, her fatal flaw might make her do something she'd wish she hadn't otherwise.

"We meet again." Oswald said, looking over her gathered friends and noticing one was missing. Both girls were still there along with the blonde-haired boy who looked a lot like...

"Luke."
