Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Hey guys! I got a review for this story today saying how I have been MIA since 2015, and that I should make an author's note to explain things, which I really should.
I occasionally post it on my profile what's going on, but it had still been over a year since I updated things.
First of all, a million apologies. Time flies fast.
I have every intention and desire to finish this story, as well as other fanfictions. Some fanfictions I may drop, but this would not be one of them. I still very much love Danny Phantom, I still read reviews/messages and reply to them, I still write, and while I haven't really sat down and done it for a while, I still read and review fanfiction, including Danny Phantom fanfiction.
In my spare time, I have been working on this story, Fishing for Ghosts and another story (non published). I never fully stopped. Other fanfictions I had put on hold so that I can better focus on those three since I get requests/reviews and notifications for those stories more than any others, but in the past year, I had stopped the other story to try and get these done.
First issue was me having written more for Fishing for Ghosts, and then forgetting that fanfiction has a document counter, and that my documents expired. It made me stop for a bit, because I had lost everything I had for all of my stories. I learned a hard, harsh lesson.
Another big issue I had run into was that I had become very unhappy with how I had originally written both this story and Fishing for Ghosts (as well as many, many others, but entirely different story there). I feel like my writing style and such has become much, much better (I cringe at all of my old stuff so, so, so hard and I hate it all and want to delete it but I leave it up because I hate it when people delete fanfictions). I cringe at some of the direction I was going with this story, and I wasn't fully happy with it anymore. I had rewritten the chapters for the ones already up (I kept the direction the story was going in), and I have more of this story on my computer (not much but it's there). I had decided to not update until I finished the stories, because I am really worried about leaving people hanging with such long pauses in between and them thinking/beginning to worry about never reaching that conclusion and final chapter. I have no clue how long it would take me to finish both of those stories.
Also: Many of my Danny Phantom based viewpoints, headcanons, ideas and likes/dislikes has changed. So, navigating that with some of my old stories just flat out conflicts now.
That being said, do people really want me to wait until I'm done and post everything in regular, reliable intervals after it's done (which may admittedly take a long time) or just post as I finish with possibly long intervals in between those? If people are fine with possibly long intervals in between updates, then I don't mind doing so.
Same reviewer had mentioned this story being adopted by somebody else. Technically, I already adopted this story. I don't mind if people want to adopt the story anyway (even though I do plan on finishing), but if you do, you need to give credit to the original author/story idea holder, HalfafanD. This was not my original idea.
If people are curious as to what happened, it was just pure and simple life stuff. Nothing bad or tragic happened to me, it was simply just a case of life becoming very busy, and me taking breaks from working on the stories in private in favor of other hobbies and activities. I still very much love the show, and I still enjoy reading the fanfictions and viewing art and creations based on it.
