A/N: Hello, everyone! This is the epilogue of Hämnd which means that when you've read this, you've read the whole story of Kanon whose story started when she died - quite literally. This time you'll find out who Kanon actually is and what will happen afterwards, although that's a whole new story (But heck no, I'm not going to write it, at least not yet! I really have to let go of Kanon.)

This time you could listen to... Listen to whatever you want, I'm out of ideas.

Please go on and read~ Please also note that this chapter will be told from Kanon's point of view ;)

I slowly woke up to Krom's familiar voice trying to wake me up. After I had opened my eyes, I just kept staring at Krom for a while. I was surprised that Teito and Millea had actually let go of him because if I had got back a long-lost family member, I'd never again let go of them and I was pretty sure that Teito felt the same as I'd feel. But there Krom was, smiling his warm smile at me while he tried to wake me up. When I looked past him, I saw Teito sleeping and leaning on Millea's shoulder while she stroked her son's hair.

"What is it?" I mumbled accidentally in Raggs while I tried to sit up. He was holding some weird book with a weirdly familiar handwriting all over the cover.

"I've got to tell everyone something", Krom laughed. "And I sort of need you awake since it's about you and the Raggs family."

"Me and the Raggs family?" I asked. "As far as I know I don't really have any relation to the Raggs family…"

"That's where you're wrong, Lydia", Krom smiled. "Actually we had a sister – who was Krowell's twin – but she disappeared. Surprisingly, her first names were Lydia Calanthe."

No, I thought. I don't want to hear this…

"How do you know about that?" Kreuz asked. "I never heard about a younger sister."

"Neither did I", Ayanami said. "Why isn't she mentioned anywhere?"

"That's simply because she wasn't born alive", Krom told. "Her body was stolen to Barsburg by an undercover agent who posed as a nurse in the Raggs castle."

Stop it… I don't want to hear this…

"Apparently, she was revived with the help of replica project after the scientists had implanted some other DNA on her", Krom said. "Nine years after that, the first genetically modified human – Lydia – was born into this world. Apparently she was later kidnapped by a scientist who just happened to be a granddaughter of a former nurse in Raggs castle. That way you still knew your real names even though you had been separated from us."

"And how in the world have you gotten all that information?" Ayanami asked. "Only one person couldn't have known all this."

"I had found mother's diary a bit after I met Lydia for the first time", Krom said and showed us the book he had been holding. "And the person who gave me a place to live in here just happened to be the same former nurse who was the grandmother of the person who kidnapped Lydia."

Suddenly all the dots in my mind connected and I understood why I could speak Raggs even though I had lived in Barsburg all my life. I also figured out why I had called Ayanami my brother when we first met even though I wasn't supposed to have known him.

"Yukikaze must have known all that", I whispered. "When he first saw me, he reacted like he had seen a ghost…"

I heard soft chuckling from Ayanami's direction and realized that he had misunderstood the word ghost again. I blushed a bit when that distant memory of him laughing at my words returned to my mind.

"I didn't mean it like you think", I mumbled. "I meant… Well, you won't understand it, anyway…"

"And I know you won't be explaining it to me since you're still angry at me for various reasons", Ayanami said and for a second I could see a faint sadness in his eyes.

Is he an idiot…?

"Won't you stop acting like that?" my voice said. It took me half a minute to register that the speaker had indeed been me and no one else. By that time everyone's eyes had widened and everyone was looking at me.

Suddenly Ayanami chuckled again and patted my head. He gave me a weird glance and said: "Go to sleep if you're so tired that you start speaking things like that."

Ah… He's letting me go away…

"Well, then I'll leave", I mumbled. I stood up too quickly and the room started swaying. I closed my eyes and almost fell. Then I felt someone's hands helping me stand up and when I opened my eyes, I saw Kreuz and his worried expression.

"Do you need help, Lydia-san?" he asked. "You don't seem to be feeling so well…"

"It's alright", I mumbled. "But company would be nice in this huge house."

Kreuz smiled and followed me when I walked away. After we had walked some time, he finally let out a long sigh and let his shoulders slump.

"Will I really be alright with them?" he mumbled. I couldn't help but smile at him.

"If I could manage almost twenty years with your younger brother, I'm sure that you'll be alright", I said with a smile. "He won't eat you, I can promise that."

"If you say so, I'll believe you", Kreuz said. "Say, how old are you now? I couldn't follow Krom's explanation at all."

"I should be twenty-five now but my body looks younger since I was killed once and the revival process seems to have gone a bit off at some point", I told. "That's why I seemingly don't age."

"So… Does that mean you won't die?" Kreuz asked with widened eyes.

"I don't think so", I said and chewed on my lower lip. "It just probably means that I'll look the same and some day I'll just die off. To be honest, I don't really care. I'm perfectly fine with dying like that."

"But won't it be lonely?" Kreuz asked with a bit louder voice than usual. "Won't you feel left behind like that?"

"Didn't I already say that I don't care, nii-san?" I said and leaned backwards. "I'll worry about that when I'll need to worry. If it looks like I won't be dying naturally, I'll just frame and accident or something like that."

Kreuz shot me a look that instantly told me that he wasn't really happy with my decision. We continued to walk in silence for the following two minutes before we got to where my room was. I smiled sadly at him for the last time before I opened the door and went in. Before Kreuz could leave, I whispered:

"Let's revive the Raggs kingdom."

I had slept for two hours when I suddenly woke up. I could see the sunset from my window but there was also someone outside the window. I quietly walked to the window and opened it. When I looked out, I saw Labrador smiling at me, Castor reading a book and Frau sulking on the tiny balcony of my room.

"Are you better, Kanon?" Labrador asked. "Losing Yukikaze-san must have been quite a shock to you…"

"Somehow I must have been prepared to that", I said and inhaled the fresh evening air that brushed my hair backwards as I hopped on the balcony. "I don't feel shocked at all… Maybe it's because he promised to return to my side. I somehow feel that I don't have any more burdens."

"You sure are a weird one", Frau mumbled. "How is Teito?"

"He's probably still asleep", I laughed. "He'll probably need some time to get used to everything."

"I'm sure he'll be alright", Labrador said with his usual sad smile. "I can't see the future anymore but I know Teito's personality well enough to tell that."

"So, do you have some plans now, princess Lydia?" Castor asked with a grin.

"Don't call me princess, Castor", I said darkly. "I know it's stupid like my plans usually but I'm going to follow the Pope and revive the Raggs kingdom."

"You sure are a weird one", Castor chuckled and then patted my head. "Well, then we'll probably have to help you."

This is the new beginning, I thought while I looked at the beautifully red sunset.

This time I will really live!

So, here we'll face the end. This was a long journey and I'm happy to have such awesome readers. Please review and tell me your thoughts of this long series :D
