Chapter 4
The next morning was very irritating. The sun was shining brightly through the windows and I had a splitting headache from crying too much. Sighing, I got up to face my so called family. I rolled my eyes at that thought. I was furious. Extremely and deathly furious. How dare my dead take another kid's side over mine? I am his kid! Shouldn't I be the one he should be concerned for? Sighing in irritation I got up from the warm bed and to my wardrobe. I dawned on my violet turtle neck sweater and black jeans. Putting on long black socks I stepped out of my room and into the hallway. I could smell eggs and bacon. I could hear Lilly chatting happily to Pamela and my father. Entering the kitchen, Lilly became silent and she plucked at her food.
"Momma, the dummy-head is awake." She said. I glared at her and stuck my tongue out.
"Why you little-!" I started.
"Don't you dare step closer to her Sam." Pamela said. She looked angry. I scoffed.
"Whatever Mrs. Evans." I said. She slammed the plate down.
"Momma who's Mrs. Evans." Lilly asked looking up. I rolled my eyes. Of course she didn't know. I thought bitterly. Pamela cleared her throat.
"No one sweetie. Sammykins here-," She said, but I cut her off.
"It's Sam. You no longer have the right to call me that." I gritted. Pamela shot me a dirty look.
"As I was saying, Samantha here should know that my last name is no longer Evans. It's Manson." She said smiling, but it was strained and forced. I merely rolled my eyes.
"Right, remind that when I consider you my mother." I snarled. She flashed me a hurt look, but I brushed it off. No matter what she thought, she would never be my mom. My mom at least cared for me. Sure she was traveling and always talking with Robert, but she at least remembered me and showed that she cared. She took me shopping, got me gothic clothing, and bought me souvenirs.
"Good morning everyone." My so called dad said cheerfully. I scoffed and looked at my plate full of food. I knew it was good to eat, but for some reason I just couldn't stand being here.
"Daddy is Danny coming over?" Lilly asked. I kept my eyes down, but I was still listening.
"I believe so." My dad said. I smiled on the inside. If there was anyone who could make me better, it's Danny.
A knock at the back door brought me out of my thoughts. Pamela got up and opened it. And guess who walked in? Why none other than Danny Fenton! My heart leaped with joy when he smiled at me.
"Hey Sam." He said smiling. I waved and gave him a shy smile. I heard Lilly climb off her chair.
"Danny! Danny!" She shouted with glee. Danny laughed as she tugged on his arms.
"Calm down Lilly, I'm happy to see you too." He said. Lilly smiled and let him go. I got up and he gave me a hug. Lilly saw this and frowned. I opened my eyes and stuck my tongue at her. In your face you rotten spoiled brat. I said in my head. As if she could hear my thoughts, Lilly sprang into action.
"Mooooomma! Sam won't let go of Danny!" She cried. Danny immediately let go of me as Pamela walked in. I glared at Lilly. Pamela looked at me with a stern expression.
"Sam, give Danny his personal space. Besides, I asked him to watch Lilly. I'm pretty sure you're old enough to take of yourself." She said. I stared in shock but didn't say anything. Pamela smiled at Danny and turned back into the kitchen. By the time I looked back at Lilly and Danny, they were already in the living room. I walked over and saw them playing that stupid little Lego game of the pigs and that dumb wolf.
"Hey Sam, want to join?" Danny asked. I shook my head.
"Hey Danny, can I talk to you about something in private." I asked. Danny smiled.
"Sure." He said. He was about to get up, but Lilly called out to him.
"Danny! You said you would play with me." She pouted. I groaned inwardly. Danny smiled at me and shrugged. He went back to playing with that little girl. I dropped my jaw in surprise. He would rather play with a girl, instead of talk to me? I admit that I am being a little unfair and selfish. But who wouldn't be? I got flipping rejected by dad! I had really hoped Danny would deny Lilly's wishes and talk to me.
But I was sadly mistaken. That is until Lilly actually started being nice and invited me to help build a snowman with her and Danny. I shrugged and ventured into the crisp cold chilly air. I helped Danny roll the bottom while Lilly rolled the body. Danny helped her stack the body onto the bottom. I made the head and we all decorated him with twigs for arms, lumps of coal we found in storage for eyes and buttons, then Lilly went inside and asked Pamela for a carrot for his nose. Once our snowman was done, we put my scarf and Danny's hat on its head. WE all smiled, and for the first time in that day, I actually cared for Lilly.
Afterwards, it was getting late and we all walked back inside. I found more shells and rocks for my collections. I got to talk to Danny about school that will be starting in January and got to know more about him. As we walked back inside, Danny suddenly stopped. He seemed to have let out a deep breath, and I could have sworn I saw a blue mist. Shrugging I brushed it off as his breath. He looked around, and then suddenly bided me and Lilly a farewell. I waved at him and saw his disappear behind an alley.
"Must be a shortcut." I said. But then I saw a strike of black and white fly out of the alley, "What the heck?" I said, I would have stayed but Pamela had called me for dinner. Slowly walking back to the dining room, I saw Lilly was back to selfish, bratty, spoiled Lilly. I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't help but get that feeling that I got last night. Suddenly the silver car popped back into my head.
"Mommy, there's a car out there." Lilly said, I hadn't noticed she'd gotten off her seat. Dad and Pamela stood up and murmured in agreement.
"Why would we have a guest this late into the season?" Pamela asked Dad. Dad shrugged. Just then the doorbell rang. The three of us, excluding Lilly, walked to the door. Lilly stayed back, and if it was possible, she became more irritable. Dad opened the door and smiled at the person there. It was a male. He had spikey snow-white hair, a pair of dark sunglasses, and a long black trench coat with a black shirt underneath. He had tan khaki pants on and black dress shoes. He smiled, and I saw a fresh clean row of white sparkling teeth, but I noticed he had some sharp canine teeth. He flashed me a gorgeous smile, and I couldn't help but blush.
"Good evening." He said. He had a thick rich Hungarian accent. His words were smooth and rolled of his tongue in perfection. I almost swooned. I must admit, he was a gorgeous man, but he must have been around his thirties or forties due to how deep and masculine his voice was. But looked twenty or eighteen. "I was wondering if you had a room that I may stay in till the end of this cold season." He asked. My dad nodded.
"OF course we do." He said. But before he could let him in, Lilly shouted in protest.
"No! No, don't let him in! I don't like him. He looks mean and bad." She argued. I laughed.
"Oh come on Lilly. Look at him, he seems harmless." I replied. Lilly glared daggers at me.
"I thought you would have been smarter Sam." She snapped. I gasped.
"That's quite enough." Dad said. The man stared at us in wonder and amusement. "Mr.…uh…who did you say you were?" He asked.
"Elliot. Elliot Monger." He said shaking my dad's hand. My dad gladly welcomed him into our house. And almost immediately the house seemed to have grown darker and scarier. I suddenly felt the feeling that I as being watched. I looked behind me but there was nothing. I glanced at Elliot. His eyes seemed to focus on something. Then he smirked and turned his gaze to me. I blushed and turned away. My dad showed him the rooms and I noticed he choose the room above mine. I felt my heart beat faster as he passed by me. I could smell his cologne. It was soft and musky. I smiled and walked back downstairs. I sat on the couch and Lilly joined me.
"I don't like him." She said. I rolled my eyes.
"Doesn't matter twerp. He's staying and that's finale." I told her. I saw her bottom lip quiver, but she didn't utter another word. She got up and mumbled something.
"We're all in big trouble…" She mumbled. I rolled my eyes. Kids are so weird…
