[Slytherin Harry Chapter 6]

XXX

Harry was sitting around at the dining area not doing much other than reading an interesting book that described hundreds of joke spells. He had decided to start off small and work his way up on offensive and defensive magic. He didn't want to only know spells that turn people's blood into fire or make their brain turn to mush. He needed others to know that yes he studied magic and other forms of it a lot but he didn't want the wrong people to think he was too dangerous so the joke magic would be useful in throwing them off.

"I heard you're on the Slytherin team potter. What did you have to do to get on, greez a few hands?" The voice was obvious to Harry who it was and the hint a jealousy in it just made Harry all the more certain.

"I could have if I had wanted to but professor Snape isn't the type to take bribes and why would I pay good money for something I could get with actual skill? You see Ron that is the difference between you and I. I have money and skill; you have no table manner or manners in general and an inability to wash your face." By now Ron's face was matching his hair and he was trembling with rage. Ron's two friends didn't look like they were fairing much better as well by the way they looked like they wanted to strangle Harry.

"Watch it you slimy serpent in the grass" spoke Seamus but he was cut off by Draco who had just come up from the Slytherin common room with Theodore and Daphne.

"Or you will do what? Last time I check none of you Chickendores could so much as cast a stunner charm let alone do something as basic as turning a needle into a button, so what are you going to do?" That seemed to be it for Ron as he charged Draco and cocked his fist back.

Before Ron could land a blow he was hit in the face by a purple ray of light before he hit the ground and started to laugh uncontrollably. Dean didn't think this was funny and tried to reach for his wand. Harry seeing this smirked and used another spell this one made the victims entire body super slippery so when he moved to grab his wand it slipped out of his hand, then Dean slipped out of his shoes and hit the ground, and then he slipped out of his shirt and was quickly losing clothing. Seamus was able to grab his wand and he was actually the one Harry was worried most about not that he was really worried but it seemed that every time the boy tried a spell something exploded and Harry didn't feel like being on the receiving end of that so he used a third spell to make everything the victim said an insult. When Seamus went to say a spell and wave his wand a particularly rude comment came out of his mouth that was extremely racist which made Dean look at him like he wasted to kill him. Seamus went to apologize but that didn't seem to help at all.

"What is going on here?" Snape didn't look happy and the way he was looking at Harry and the three Gryffindor's could cause their skin to jump up and run away.

"Ron here thought it would be funny to try and insult me and claimed that I bribed my way onto the House Team. We exchanged pleasantries some of which Ron didn't like and he went for his wand. I thought he looked a little to unhappy so I gave him a little help smiling. The rest was just an evolution of my generosity." By now Harry was grinning like a mad man and couldn't help but think the situation was funny. Snape didn't look happy at all and gave Harry a look and then looked at the Gryffindor's like he was trying to decide who to punish. He quickly waved his wand and canceled the spells that were on the Gryffindor's much to their relief.

"Weasley, five points from Gryffindor for making far too much racket, Dean ten points for indecent exposure, Seamus ten points for foul language" shouted Snape before he walked off cape billowing in the wind.

Seamus, Ron, and Dean gave harry a look that could have been pealed paint but Harry just smiled at them. Dean got up and began to redress while Ron caught his breath and Seamus tried to apologize to Dean for his colorful language.

"Potter I challenge you to a wizards duel tonight at eight in the old Clock Tower" shouted Ron as he pointed at Harry who was looking bored.

"Sure sounds like fun. Whose you're second and third?" Weasley looked confused but then he smirked.

"Idiot wizard's duels are for only two people not three." Weasley thought he got one over on them but Harry just sighed.

"I was allowing you to have a third person because not even three on one would you guys be a match for me" spoke Harry. Ron's face was crimson and the other two didn't look to happy either but they knew they were already in hot water as it was.

"Fine then who is your second and third?" Harry shrugged and then pointed at Draco and Theodore who didn't even look up from his book but Draco looked more than pleased.

"Them, but it doesn't even matter since neither of you even know any magic." All of the Slytherins who had made it down from the Slytherin Common Room were now laughing at the three Gryffindor's.

"Fine, come prepared to lose" shouted Ron as he stomped away with a sour look on his face. Seamus gave them the finger and Dean gave them a dirty look which pissed Draco off.

"We are so going to destroy them tonight." Theodore and the rest of Harry's friends were nodding their heads and chuckling evilly but Harry just sighed.

"We are not going to hurt them." This caused everyone to go wide eyed but Draco wasn't going to take that sitting down.

"What why not? They not only insulted you, but us as well, and worse of all the entire house of Slytherin. This isn't something you can just back out of." Draco was furious. All of Draco's life his father taught him pride and maybe a little vanity especially about being a Slytherin so Harry not doing anything wasn't something he could just take.

"As much fun as it would be to knock them around a bit people especially teachers would ask where there bruises and cuts came from. Knowing how loud mouthed Gryffindor's are we would be ratted out in a second and knowing who the head master is he might even use a pensive to look at their memories. What we should do is casually inform a teacher that three lost Gryffindor's are out of bed past curfew and watch the show from afar." Now all of the Slytherins were smiling. That was a very Slytherin move and Harry had just earned a few points with the older students.

"That could be fun" spoke Draco as he looked over at the points the other Gryffindor's had been able to gain while they were there and thought about what it would look like after tonight.

Harry surprised his fellow Slytherin when he was found conversing with not only Ravenclaw students but also Huphlepuff students as well. It was common knowledge that people assumed those in Huphlepuff were either dumb or useless but Harry found out that that notion was untrue in a lot of areas. Where the Ravenclaws were smart when it came to books, facts, and history those from Huphlepuff were very knowledgeable in things that involved the social aspects. They always seemed to know the latest rumors and other things about people that others just didn't know. Harry found this particular attribute very helpful in not only making friends by finding things that interested him and people who could be possibly beneficial to him in the future but also in finding weaknesses in people.

He didn't need his new Huphlepuff friends to find out that Weasley's weaknesses were his lack of money, skill, or looks. He didn't need them to know he was quick to anger or that he had a giant inferiority complex either, but he did learn from them some juicy info on Ron's new friends. He found out from a girl he meet named Cho Chang the Dean's father left his mother when he was young and never told her that he was a wizard causing Dean to grow up thinking he was a muggle born, or that his father was murdered by the dark lord's servants. He also learned that Ron's other friend Seamus's father walked out on his mother when he found out she was a witch.

Harry had continued to excel in his classes gaining points for his house along with his friends. He made it a habit to be seen helping out those in Ravenclaw and Huphlepuff which had led to many of the Huphlepuffs to start to warm up to Slytherin. Of course many of the older students and those 'trained' by their parents to hate and fear Slytherin were still an exception but Harry knew he had seven years to change their minds and it was something he was willing to work for. After all you never know who is going to have what job and it was always better to have that person as your friend instead of your enemies.

Of course harry wasn't without his enemies. He was enemy number one when it came to Gryffindor as he made it his job in life to show them up. He was always kind and humble but there was always an underlining tone that told the other Gryffindors that he was better than them which made them very mad.

Harry had made two friends outside of Slytherin that he could actually say he like more than just someone he casually said hello to in the hallways. Hermione Granger and Neville Longebottom were good people, Hermione was a little bit annoying with her having to know practically everything and Neville being scared of his own shadow but the time they had spent together had really helped them out. Hermione was learning that correcting someone every change she got was annoying and not to do it unless necessary and it seemed that the more time Neville spent with other people just talking the more confident he because day by day.

This didn't mean that the rest of the Slytherin house agreed with Harry. They accepted he was making friends with Huphlepuffs but making friends with a 'Mudblood' and the wimp of 'Chickendore' wasn't very appealing. It took a long time for Harry to get Draco and his other friends to be even somewhat civil with Hermione and Neville but Harry knew that they wouldn't have become friends the first day… or year, but he was sure they would eventually become friends.

As Harry and Theodore were walking back from the library they were trapped by Ron and his two cronies. Dean came from behind them and was to stop them from running while Seamus and Ron stepped out from behind a pillar and blocked the other way.

"Wow a trap. Color me impressed" mocked Harry as he looked over at Ron who had already pulled out his wand and was pointing it at Harry.

"You tipped of Snape didn't you!" Ron's voice really carried in the castle and Harry was sure someone would have heard it and gone to investigate.

"Told Snape what? That we got another ten points for Slytherin house? No that was Daphne. That someone got a perfect score on Flitwick's test? Yea that was me, what's it matter to you?" Harry was enjoying playing dumb, but Theodore just kept his nose in his book. Seriously Harry figured he should have been in Ravenclaw with the way he never stopped reading though Harry couldn't really complain there.

"You know what I am talking about. You told Snape that we were in the Clock Tower instead of going to our duel last night!" Harry was having a hard time not cracking a smile by now. He had heard about the three Gryffindor's getting caught last night after curfew but he hadn't been to the grand hall to see the damage Snape did to their house points.

"Oh that, well you see me and Draco were talking about that and then Snape walked by and heard us. We weren't about to be taken down with you guys so we said that we were never really going to go and we didn't think you would either. Apparently Snape didn't think us honest and it turns out he was right." Harry smirked as saw Ron ready to explode.

"Besides it's not like you know any magic anyways. We have been in school for a month and you still can't change you needle in Professor McGonagall's classroom." Ron had had enough and went through the motions with his wand.

"Eat slugs" shouted Ron. Harry smirked and pivoted on his foot to dodge the spell. He watched in fascination as Dean kneeled over and began vomiting fat green slugs with gross slimy trails coming from behind them.

"You bastard you made me curse my own friend" shouted Ron, but it was already too late for him as Theodore pulled out his own wand.

"Anteoculatia" spoke Theodore in a bored voice and a green light shout out of his wand and hit Ronald in the face. After getting hit in the face with the green light, giant antlers started to grow out of Ron's head at a fast speed. It quickly became too heavy for Ron to hold up and he fell backwards onto the ground.

"You bast" but that was a far as Seamus got before a stunner hit him and sent him hurtling through the hallway.

"Well that was fun but I think we're going to be in trouble" spoke Harry as he looked at the damage they had caused. Ron was on the ground shouting profanities while Seamus was on the ground looking petrified and Dean was puking up slugs.

"Not necessarily" spoke Theodore as he pointed his wand at them and then used a spell to erase the memories of this event from their minds.

"Nice one" spoke Harry as he and Theodore went on with their day like nothing had happened.

Soon Halloween came around which made Harry happy since he had always like Halloween. It was his second favorite holiday right after Christmas. He loved the theme and how interesting things were that night along with the good food and laughs you got from it it was hard not to like it.

The Halloween feast was spectacular as were all the decorations that the teachers, staff, and house elves had put up. Harry liked them even more than usual mainly because they had been charmed to do various things instead of just standing still and being just for decoration. There were skeletons that would laugh and pixies who would sing which was very interesting with their screechy voices.

As harry and his friends at something decided to interrupt them. The defence against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Quarrel came running into the Great Hall shouting something that shocked everyone.

"TROLLS! TROLLS IN THE DUNGEON…. Thought you might want to know" shouted Quarrel right before he passed out backwards, well fainted would have been a better word.

The entire Grand Hall was silent until Harry said "Wow I feel so much safer knowing I have been learning from him" which would have caused many to laugh if it wasn't for the intense fear that had gripped them. They all began to panic but Dumbledore used a weird spell that amplified his voice and silenced them.

"Everyone report back to your common room, students follow your prefects. Teachers follow me" spoke Dumbledore as he left the Great Hall to go confront the Troll but all of Slytherin was looking at him like he was crazy.

"That moron does realize that the Slytherin common rooms are in the dungeons right?" Draco's question was what everyone in Slytherin was thinking.

"We will report to the library. I am sure the Headmaster was just stressed and didn't think clearly when he said that" spoke a Prefect of Slytherin house though he didn't look convinced and the angry look on his face spoke more than words ever would.

"Hey Draco have you seen Hermione today?" Draco looked at harry like he had grown a second head.

"And why would I know where that know it all prat is?" Draco and Hermione's relationship with one another hadn't improved much over the year but it was getting better.

"Hey Daphne have you girls seen Hermione?" Daphne looked like she was thinking and then nodded her head.

"Yea apparently that worthless Weasley and his two cronies said something to her that made her upset. She has been crying in the girl's restroom all day." Daphne then walked off with the other Slytherins and her friends.

"If she had been in the restroom all day then she doesn't know about the troll" spoke Harry but then he heard someone sigh behind him.

"You're not seriously thinking of going and telling her are you? We could run into the troll and no offence but dying isn't something I am ready to do." Harry just rolled his eyes and began to run towards the girl's restroom. He heard someone running and saw it was Draco. Harry smiled knowing he could use this to mess with Draco later in the future.

Eventually they came upon the girl's restroom and was about to knock on the door when they heard a loud and high pitched screech coming from inside of it. Harry quickly blasted the door open with a spell and ran inside. Harry stared wide eyed as he saw the creature before him. It had a stupid look on its face but it was holding a club many times larger than he was in just one hand. It was a tint of green and had a horrible odor about it.

"I hate you" whispered Draco as he slowly back tracked.

Harry knew Draco didn't really hate him but pointing that out right now wasn't on his to do list. The giant creature was standing over Hermione who looked scared out of her wits. Harry acting on instinct ran and grabbed Hermione by the shoulder and dove out of the way of the Troll's club. When harry looked back he could see the large crater the creature had been able to create using its raw strength and that giant club.

"Hermione are you ok?" Hermione was babbling incoherently which cause Harry to sigh.

The troll seemed to catch on that it hadn't hit what it had intended to and pulled its club out of the wall and turned around to look at Harry and Hermione. It went to attack again but a red light hit it in the face causing it to howl in pain.

"Yea you didn't like that did you" shouted Draco as watched the troll flail around like a headless chicken.

Eventually the troll got over the stunner to the eye and looked over at Draco. Draco seemed to realize what was going on and began to walk backwards. The troll let out a deafening roar and went to attack but then a beam of what looked like light blue lightning pierced the troll's heart. The troll being as stupid as it was looked backwards trying to figure out what was going on and saw Harry holding out his index and middle finger while pointing it at him. His two fingers were encased in some kind of blue electricity that had extended into a long lance or beam and had easily pierced its tough skin. The troll fell to its knees and then hit the ground dead.

"How did you do that?" Harry looked at Draco with a look that said 'really? That is what your worried about?' but didn't say anything.

"What is going on here?" Harry and the gang looked up to see Snape and McGonagall standing at the entrance to the restroom with shocked looks on their faces.

"We left the great hall to tell Hermione who hadn't been there about the troll. We thought we would be safe since the troll was supposed to be in the dungeons but when we made it here the troll came and attacked us." Harry was easily able to lie; he had been doing it for a long time. He knew that Snape wouldn't do anything since he hated taking points away from Slytherin but they were sure they were going to get a tongue lashing latter.

"Then how were you able to kill a fully grown mountain troll?" McGonagall didn't seem to be buying the lie all too well. Harry wasn't surprised really she had been a teacher for a long time and had to deal with all the lies students would come up with to get out of trouble for a long time as well.

"I'm not sure really. I was so stressed out and wanted to help my friend. I stretched out my hand and then it just happened. A long beam of magic shot out of my hand and pierced the Troll's heart and killed it." Harry was hoping Snape would help out soon because it was becoming very clear she wasn't easily fooled.

"You expect me to believe you were able to kill a fully grown mountain troll with accidental magic? Mr. Potter accidental magic on that scale is a far stretch of the imagination even by your father's standards." McGonagall's lips stretched into a thin line which spoke of how little she believed them. To Harry's relief though Snape finally came to the rescue.

"It is a far stretch of the imagination but not impossible. It has been documented countless time how witches and wizards were able to do things that they never dreamed possible when their lives were on the line. Mr. Potter, Mr. Malfoy, and Ms. Granger please report to your common room as you all must be aware by now the troll threat is no longer a threat" spoke Snape in his oily smooth voice.

Harry and Draco nodded their head and began to walk away but McGonagall held Hermione back.

"You should report to the hospital wing for a checkup and some rest. Ask for a calming drought, it will help you relax" spoke McGonagall as she walked away.

Hermione did as she was told and went to the hospital wing where Madam Pomfrey fussed over her for hours giving her potions that helped her calm down and relax as well as have dreams without nightmares while she examined her with multiple examining spells.

Harry and Draco quickly became the talk of the school which gained them monumental respect from the school especially in Slytherin house though Snape was far from happy. He went into a spell about how they had acted like foolish Gryffindors rushing off and fighting a troll like that. He couldn't really do anything besides give them detention as he didn't want to take away house points but he did write a letter to their parents. Harry wasn't worried as he knew the Dursley's wouldn't be happier that he almost died but Draco turned paper white knowing his mother would flip out and his father would be angry.

Things cooled down a good bit after that and the next day was perfectly normal. Of course there were hundreds of students trying to figure out what had really happened and all the attention they were getting but other than that they were fine. Hermione was kept in the hospital wing for the rest of the day and was let out that night so that she could sleep in her own dorm. On her way there she ran into Daphne and her friend Tracey.

"Hey Hermione how are you doing?" Tracey had always been nosey plus there was something she wanted to ask Hermione.

"Better, but I am still kind of shaken up though" spoke Hermione as she sighed a bit. She knew she would have a fear of trolls for a long time.

"It is to be expected after such a traumatic experience. Luckily for you Harry and Draco came to your rescue, though you're lucky it was Harry that saved you instead of Draco. I would feel sorry for you then" spoke Tracey as she shuddered a bit.

Hermione looked at Tracey with confusion written all over her face. "What do you mean? Why would it matter if it was Draco or Harry that saved me, though I have to admit Harry did look rather dashing when he held me like that" spoke Hermione as she blushed slightly.

Both Tracey and Daphne looked at one another with shock written all over their faces and Hermione knew something big was about to happen.

"Are you saying you really don't know?" Tracey was right in front of Hermione as she said this.

"Know what?" Hermione was starting to get aggravated by now.

"Hermione Harry put his life in danger to save you. In the wizarding world that means a lot more than it would in the muggle one. When one wizard selfishly saves another without thought of their own safety a bond forms." Hermione was worried by now.

"What kind of bond?" Daphne and Tracey exchanged glances.

"He risked his life to save yours so now your life belongs to him. It is a type of repayment that cannot be broken. It is one of the oldest forms a magic there is. It is called a life dept." By now Hermione was freaking out and did the only thing she could think of. She ran towards the library and began reading everything she could about it.

The next day Harry and his friends were eating when Harry noticed Ron was whispering two his two little friends. They had looks of shock before Ron made and attempt at subtlety and waved for them to follow.

When nobody was looking Herpo slithered in and merged with the familiar tattoo. Harry was wondering how much longer he would be able to do that since Herpo was growing fast and the tattoo could only hold so much. He figured he would have to figure that out by next year or Herpo would have to slither beside him from then on out.

'Master you will never guess what that red headed child and his friends are doing' spoke Herpo directly into Harry's mind. It was convenient that that was possible when Herpo was in the tattoo since it kept others from hearing their conversation.

'What?' Harry wasn't in any mood to play a guessing game.

'The giant one that he and his friends go to see every so often has an egg, but not just any egg a dragon egg. It looked so tasty that I almost couldn't resist myself' spoke Herpo as he started to salivate though it was more a mental thing.

Harry had Herpo spy on Ron for a while now because he had been acting suspicious but he wouldn't have ever suspected Ron would be stupid enough to hide a dragon egg even if it was Hagrid who technically owned it.

'A real life dragon egg would be interesting to have. I have been reading a lot of books on dragons and other magical species and have been curious about mix breeding certain species. It would be awesome to mix breed a Hungarian Horntail and a Ukrainian Ironbelly. It would be the biggest, most bad ass dragon of them all, though I doubt Hagrid has either of them.' Harry started to scratch his head but then he had an idea.

'Herpo steal the egg and bring it to me. DON'T EAT IT!' Harry could feel Herpo wasn't pleased but it couldn't disobey him. 'I will get you another one but just not right now.' Herpo's mood increased instantly and he was gone just as fast as he arrived.

"I wonder what kind of Dragon it is" spoke Harry out loud though he hadn't meant to.

"Dragon? What are you talking about?" Tracey was looking at him like he was crazy.

"Oh nothing I was just thinking how interesting things would be if I had a pet dragon." Draco nodded his head as it had been one of the things he had asked his father for, yet it had also been one of the few things his father had never gotten for him.

"Why would you want a pet dragon? It's not like they can be domesticated and they are giant fire breathing lizards who are known to kill wizards and other powerful creatures" asked Theodore as he looked up from his book.

"Yea but they are also a high end commodity. If I could get a license to raise dragons then I could sell dragon supplies and make a fortune. My only problem is I don't know how to get a license." Harry picked up a book he had gotten from the library about dragons and began to read it.

"I am sure my father could help you. He is big in the ministry and the minister does whatever he says" spoke Draco confidently. Harry just sighed at the lack of sultry but knew better than to say anything since he did need the connection.

"Sure thanks. Could you send him a letter for me?" Draco nodded his head and got to writing the letter.

'Potter's Dragon Reserve. That has a catchy ring to it' thought harry as he went back to reading.
