Beezus. The last time I touched this story it was the day after Christmas. I won't apologize. Because I have a life too. Clearly, I didn't make the deadline I set for myself, so you'll have to bare with me. Wouldn't be the first time. I suck at achieving goals. But I'm gonna blame it on my classes, and work schedule, both of which have been very involved this semester.
But seriously, I think the reason I haven't updated in a while is because I literally last saved this chapter with an unfinished first sentence, that I have no idea how to complete. I don't know what I was thinking when I ended it. So as I write this author's note, I'm trying to remember how to begin this chapter. Because I have a bunch of middle, and end, but NO BEGINNING. Gah. Memory loss.
I was looking forward to the calm after this whole Alpha Pack nonsense was over. I was not impressed. At all. Especially when those weird looking twins locked my Isaac in a closet. I get that they were all powerful or whatever in the Werewolf world, but from what I was seeing their collective unit was about as effective as a mid-grade demon. AKA not that awesome. Scott and Derek needed to get their separate pack silliness together, because everyone knows 'team work makes the dream work.'
And not to mention, after that kid was found tied to a tree on the cross-country path, two more people around the same age were found dead. The second had ties to Stiles, a girl whose party he had been to the night before it happened. And the third, a boy uncovered by Lydia, who had no recollection of driving out to the pool where she found him.
The general consensus between the two packs native to Beacon Hills was that this was all the Alpha Pack's doing. But it all seemed a bit...ritualistic. And too clean to be a wolf kill. Not to mention my miko senses tingled terribly whenever the thought of that Ms. Blake character popped up. There was something so off about her.
"Isn't it obvious?" Kagome said, looking around at the faces in the room, to see if anyone had the barest spark in recognition of what she was saying. From the looks she was receiving, the answer to that particular question was a resounding 'no'. "Lydia," she said turning to look at the red-head, "you have the gift of sensing death." The air in the room shifted, the tension was palpable. Of course, the pale, not-quite-as-skinny-as-he-seemed, awkward boy broke it.
"What?!" Stiles flailed his arms around, almost hitting Scott in the process. "Like, what?"
"I think the myths call you specifically a banshee." Kagome clarified.
"Again, what?" Said Stiles.
"A banshee, or bean sidhe, is a female spirit in Irish mythology. They're seen as an omen of death and a messenger from the underworld." Lydia said monotonously, shaking herself – and the rest of the group – out of their stupor in the best way she knew how, by approaching the subject in an analytical manner. "Well at least I'm not psychic! I told you guys that." Lydia crossed her arms.
"Yes…and no." Kagome started. The attention was now firmly back on her, excluding Stiles, who was dividing his usually scattered attention equally between her and Lydia, Hehad been crushing on her since forever, so he felt it was his duty to make sure that she didn't fall into another crazy like state like what happened last year. "It is believed that a banshee is a female fairy who begins to wail when somebody is about to die. That whole underworld stuff, not so much." Kagome's delicate fingers tapped her chin softly as she thought about Lydia's situation.
"That would make sense." Said Stiles, finally able to form words other than 'what.' Everyone just looked at him. "I mean, come on guys, I'm talking about her being a fairy. I mean, Lydia basically glows with beauty, her hair is never greasy or limp, and not to mention that she survived living in the woods for two weeks in almost freezing temperatures." He shrugged. Lydia just huffed and flicked her shiny hair over her shoulder.
"So you're basically telling me that I'm some sort offreak." Lydia waved her hand around the room flippantly, leaving the words like you guys hanging in the room, unsaid, but implied. The group in the apartment had been quietly listening to the conversation between the three, but that last statement by Lydia caused a response from nearly everybody.
Derek frowned, probably more so at Lydia grouping him together with the cubs than the intonation that he was a freak as well. Isaac pouted – he really had a perfect puppy dog face – and scooted closer to Kagome on the couch for comfort after being put down by the mean girl. Scott looked up at Erica in confusion. The boy gotten significantly less dense since his sophomore year, however, he was still subject to bouts of thickness. Erica just shook her head at her friend's lack of tact, and sent a small smile to Scott, patting his shoulder and giving him a "we'll-talk-about-it-later" look before resting back against the bulk that was Boyd. Cora was pretending not to be interested in anything that was going on by seemingly paying more attention to her nails, it would blow her cover if she reacted to what Lydia had just said. Boyd, well Boyd, he just rolled his eyes at the faux pas and continued to look out of the window forlornly, as he did a majority of the time after he'd been rescued (released?) from the vault. And Stiles' mouth kept opening and closing like a fish, he seemed to really want to say something, but his brain just couldn't formulate it yet. Until finally,
"What?!" Stiles spluttered, shaking his head incredulously, "What do you mean freak? Lydia, this is freaking awesome! I mean, you can anticipate death. How cool is that?"
"Cool Stiles? Cool? Please enlighten me about what specifically is cool about hearing dead people talk in creepy hotels and being pulled toward murder scenes? Oh! And being a shining beacon of light that attracts creepy uncle wolves with family issues." Lydia's voice had reached an impossibly high screech by the time she was finished, making the wolves in the room, and really even the humans to cringe. Lydia had some valid points, but this did not damper Stiles excitement.
"Okay, yeah sure, those things sucked. But think of all the things you could possibly do with that power. It doesn't make you freaky, it makes you special." Stiles gained a wistful look that was not lost on anyone, not even Scott. "Since you know what you are now, you could probably learn to control it and…" Stiles continued, murmuring really to himself, and Lydia had decided that having this power could possible come in handy.
"I suppose," she said haughtily, "that this could work out in the end. I mean, I could become a renown detective with the unflinching ability to find murder sites. That, I could work with. After I get my Nobel Prize in Mathematics, of course." A calculative gleam appeared in Lydia's eyes then, and everyone in the room was glad they knew what she was thinking about and that it wasn't them. That gleam was dangerous. Stiles, had continued to talk. He sighed suddenly. His normally sunny disposition seemed like a thundercloud had taken over.
"I wish I was special. Now I really am the only human in this group." Two pairs of human eyes flashed at him. He shrugged, putting his hands up in defense. "Easy ladies, I meant average human. Lydia is a banshee, and Kagome, you're just, well, I'm not entirely sure exactly what you are, but you said you were human, but it's kinda obvious that there's a lot more to that whole situation…" he cut off his rambling at the look Kagome cut him. He cleared his throat nervously. "Anyway, I'm just plain ole Stiles. Who's only powers include dispersing the tension with my awesomely sarcastic wit, researching things, and getting kidnapped. Easily." Cue another sigh from Stiles.
"Now, now Stiles, don't beat yourself up over your apparent normalcy." Said Kagome, waving her hand as if that motion could dismiss those thoughts that he had just shared with them.
"Unless you're about to tell me that I have some sort of magical power too, I don't want to hear anything you have to say." Stiles turned his nose up. Looked like five-year-old Stiles was out to play.
"Listen to me, Stiles. The world that we know, can only exist if there is balance. Yes, you are human. No, I do not sense anything at all magical about you." Stiles huffed at this. "But don't you see? You are the natural to their supernatural. The normal to their paranormal. You are what they are not. You bring the balance. And balance is everything. So what you don't have werewolf strength, you also do not have werewolf weakness. And believe me, there are a lot of those." At this Isaac looked at her. "Not you Isaac, you're perfect." She stroked his cheek then ran her hand through his curly locks. He gave a soft purr-like growl in content. Kagome's blue gaze returned to Stiles. "Do you understand me?"
"I guess." Stiles stubbornly forced out. "Doesn't mean I like it." He grumbled.
"It matters not how you feel about it now. You will eventually come to accept and even appreciate the gift you have."
"Whoa." Scott started, "That seemed important. Kinda prophetic." A few eyes widened at Scott's correct usage of the word. "Are you like Lydia, Kagome? Is that how you know what she is?"
"No. I'm… different than Lydia. I was told of…people... in Japan who had talents like hers. I never met any of these people. They were before my time, and I can't say for certain that Lydia has the same kind of power as those people because I can't compare what she has to something I have never seen before. All I can do is take what I know about her situation and couple it with what I see and sense when I look at her. And that information is firmly pointing me to the belief that she is blessed, or cursed, depending on how you look at it, with the sight. As for what I just said to Stiles, while not a prophecy, is just the natural order of things. It will come to pass."
"So what you're saying is, you don't really know what she is." Cora snarked.
"What I'm saying is, everything manifests differently in differently people. But really, it's such common sense even you could figure it out. What else could she be?" Kagome replied. Cora snorted in dismissal and turned her eyes back to her nails. After staying quiet and observing the whole time, it was Derek's turn to jump into the conversation.
"What I would like to know, is why Lydia didn't react to the bite, or the Kanima's poison. Is that a question you could answer Kagome?" Derek was always slightly less…him? grumpy? rude? all of the above? when he spoke to Kagome. It was like he could feel that her presence demanded respect, as it did.
"Truthfully, I do not know about the Kanima's poison, it's not something familiar to me. I could contact an…ally…of mine," she smirked when she said ally, "to see if I could get more information on that if you'd like? He knows all about poisons." Derek nodded after a moment's hesitation. He decided that Kagome would keep her inquiries discreet and be mindful of the pack's safety. "As for the bite, I definitely know the answer to that." Derek's eyebrow rose in question. "You cannot become what you are not."
"Ummm. What?" Erica was the first to speak after a moment of everyone trying to figure out what Kagome had just said.
"I think I get it." Isaac spoke up softly.
"Well please, enlighten us." Said Cora. Which earned her a icy glare courtesy of Kagome. No one spoke to her Isaac like that. Cora promptly silenced herself and looked away, and everyone in the room felt a chill down their spines that seemed to be the backlash of the aforementioned glare. Only Isaac felt warmth – comfort and love enveloped him only.
"Lydia must have always like this, gifted. It may not have triggered until her meeting with Peter, but if a seer is what she was, then she couldn't have become a werewolf. She was already a supernatural entity. You cannot become what you are not." He repeated. Light bulbs went off in people's heads, you could literally see the flash of understanding in their eyes.
"Seems reasonable enough to me." Stiles acquiesced with a shrug. Likewise, Derek nodded in acceptance. Kagome saw Cora about to open her mouth and say something, she beat her to the punch by speaking first.
"The only time that beings can become something different than they are is when big magic is afoot." She stressed. "There hasn't been any here, or else I would have felt it. Besides, the amount of magic needed for that stuff to happen is monumental, if any was here, this town would be even more of a clusterfuck than it already is." Kagome rolled her eyes, thinking about the Shikon no Tama. Now that was the kind of magic that could create the kind of changes she was talking about. Unnatural changes. From hanyou to human - or full demon - kind of changes. And the Shikon no Tama would definitely make things bad. It was twisted, dirty magic, and she was glad to be rid of at least it's material form, even if it had merged with her soul.
Shikon Protector my ass, Kagome mused bitterly, more like a host for the parasite it is.
I was sitting on the couch in my living room, snuggled up with Isaac, watching some mind-numbingly stupid television show about a town full of vampires, [AN: LOLZ cuz my other fanfic is about that town ;)] when out of the blue, my cellphone rang. I wasn't expecting anyone to call. Usually my family and I would Skype, not use the phone, so they wouldn't have to pay the international fee. Isaac didn't really call, he would just show up, not that I was complaining about that. And while I had been getting an increasing amount of calls from Stiles, he deemed me a "secret weapon" due to his belief that I had knowledge of all supernatural things, I didn't think it was him. So when I found my phone, which was underneath a few of the pillows on the couch, and Isaac readjusted himself around me, I was surprised to see that the number had a Japan area code.
"Hello?" I answered the phone.
" Miko." Out of the speaker dripped a smooth baritone voice that I hadn't heard for a year, and truthfully never thought I'd hear again in my life. The shock of it made me freeze up for a second like a deer in headlights, something Isaac did not miss. He sent me a is-everything-okay? look, and after I shook off my surprise I gave him a nod.
" Sesshoumaru?" I switched to Japanese.
" Hn. Would you mind explaining to this Sesshoumaru why it is that you have not sought this one out? Last time this one checked, pack defers to their Alpha."
"Aren't you a little old to still be referring to yourself in the third person, Sesshoumaru?"
"Miko." He growled, warning her to answer the question. She sighed.
"I mean Sesshoumaru...truthfully, I thought you'd want nothing to do with me." I said solemnly. Sesshoumaru knew about the well, about her being from the future. She was banished to her time after the last battle but, well before leaving she gifted Sesshoumaru and the rest of the pack knowledge of some aspects of the future. Most notably, the nuclear bombs during WWII. They were family, she would never keep that information away. Fuck the time stream.
"Hn. You always were a dense ningen. Once pack, always pack. You would do well to take that to heart this time, Miko."
"I will." My heart was flooding with joy.
"Yes." Sesshoumaru continued on. I wasn't used to him being this...talkative. Sure he talked to me way more than he talked to any of the other members of my group, but still. This was new. "Your tip about the bombings were very helpful Miko. I was able to protect my pack and my lands, which put me in a perfect position to ascend to even higher standing."
"Oh really?" I could almost feel Sesshoumaru preening over the phone. It was ... weird.
"This one is now Emperor of all supernatural aspects of Japan." It was impossible to keep in my gasp. That was big news.
"Well, I'd say that I was surprised, but really, if anyone could take on that mantle, it'd be you."
"Hn." So we were back to monosyllables. I could tell it was pleased though. "You do realize that as my second, that would make something of a Princess." I choked on my spit.
"What? Princess? After all these years? Wait, you still haven't found yourself a mate Maru, have you?"
"There is no one this one finds suitable. You will remain in your position."
"Okaaayyy."
"About nineteen years ago, your kit-" I had to interrupt then.
"Shippou? My Shippou? How is he?" I would have kept rambling about my lost son but Sesshoumaru isn't the most patient demon and since he was telling a story first, well, he just cut me off and continued with what he was saying.
"Yes. Your kit. I took him in after you disappeared. He is yours and so he is pack. He became extremely excited and I got from him that it was about time for his mother to be born. Naturally, we awaited for your coming of age and travels down the well. After the well closed we waited some more. I had been planning on calling you earlier, but I was swamped in all of this paperwork." He tapered off that thought with a low growl. Now Isaac had been sitting patiently all this time, pretending to watch the show, and although he couldn't understand what we were saying, he could hear the growls that Sesshoumaru was putting off. And he didn't like it, I could tell he was getting antsy. He let a soft whine out in discomfort. That sound prompted Sesshoumaru to change subjects.
"Hn. You seem to have attracted yet another canine. " I wasn't sure what to make of his voice. It sounded, irritated?
"Yeah, well, you're upsetting him with all your growling. Knock it off ."
"And a pup as well. We shall see how Shippou feels about you replacing him when we come to visit."
"One, he's not a pup," I thought about that for a second, " well, maybe he is, but I'm not his mother." Gross. "Two, you guys are coming to visit?! When! Do you even know where I am? "
"I'm sure we can manage figuring out your location. What I'm more interested in is the pup. If he doesn't see you as a mother, then what does he see you as? A lover perhaps?" Cue the furious blushing. "Have you really gotten over my idiot half-brother that quickly? It's only been a year or so for you since that last battle." And the blushing was quickly brought to an end by the ice now circulating through my veins.
"Sesshoumaru," I started cooly, "Whatever Inuyasha and I might have had back then was resolved months before I was forced to come back to the future. What I lost was a best friend, not a lover." Leave it to Lord-Icicle-up-ass to ruin my good mood.
"Hnn. It just seems that with all you and your pack went through, you sure are moving on quickly." Sesshoumaru stated morosely. "It's been five hundred years for me and even I'm not completely over it." He admitted softly. What? Sesshoumaru was going soft on me, talking about his feelings? "And if you tell anyone I said this, I will deny it fervently after you suffer a slow and painful death by my blade." Ahh. There's the Sesshoumaru that I knew and loved.
"Gee Maru, you sure know exactly what to say in order to butter me up." I rolled my eyes at his swift one-eighty in character.
"Back to what we were discussing, I still haven't heard the full explanation of why it took so long for contact to be made from your lips, Miko. This Sesshoumaru, however, will wait until we are face to face in order to have that discussion. This one grows weary of the scenery of Japan. A vacation is long overdue." All business Sesshoumaru was back. I guess someone as emotionally constipated as him could onlyfeel things for a few moments before relapsing. We'd have to work on his emotional stamina while he was here.
"So when can I expect you?"
"You shall be alerted when this one and the kit have need of your presence." I could feel the end of the conversation drawing near, so I tried to get the next part out as quickly as possible.
"It was great hearing from you Maru. I-" CLICK. I took the cellphone from my ear to look at the screen only to see that he hung up on me. "Son of a bitch." I said, reverting back to English for Isaac's sake.
"Who was that?" Asked Isaac. I took a deep breath.
"That, my dear, sweet, lovable Isaac, was a guy who goes by the name of Sesshoumaru."
"And what did he say that made you so upset." So he caught that, did he?
"Well, he's always been a big jerk. He knows exactly how to press my buttons and seems to enjoy doing so."
"And why was he growling?" So inquisitive. How was I going to get myself out of this one? I knew that I should tell him about what I went through in the past. I mean, if anyone would understand it would be him, hopefully, but... I just wasn't ready to talk to anyone about it, not even to Isaac. Couldn't lie to him forever, even if it was lying by omission. Wasn't good for the relationship.
"Oh that." I waved my hand dismissively. "Just something he picked up from his dad. They're just weird." Truths. Hanging out with all those demons that could scent lies really honed my evasive answering skills.
"Mhmm. And how do you know this guy?" It seems like Isaac might have been getting a little jealous. I chanced a look at his face. While he tried to a achieve an nonchalant expression, his eyes were just a little to intense. Which hinted at the fact that he really wanted to know the answer to his question. Yep. He was jealous.
"We met through his brother." Where he immediately tried to kill me and lost an arm as a result. Yeah. That would get a great response.
"Do you still keep in touch with his brother?" Inuyasha. My heart clenched in remembrance. I sighed.
"I've been through some really hard times in the past. When I came here, it was to turn over a new leaf. To start my life over and to heal and get away from everything that being in Japan reminded me of. I was part of something in Japan, something big, and something that I can't tell you about, not because I don't trust you, but because it just hurts too much to think about right now. Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru's brother, was my best friend, and he was part of that past." I ended, looking back to the TV to gather my thoughts.
"Was as in..." he trailed off gently.
"No more." I said solemnly, staring at the TV but not seeing anything but the past. Isaac put his arm around me and held me tighter to his side. I could feel him trying to push comfort to me. I don't think he knew what he was doing, but it worked. And I took what he gave me. I would tell him, just not yet.
"What's up with you today Isaac? You've been brooding way more than normal." Scott asked. They were at the loft for a pack meeting.
"It's Kagome." Isaac answered. Everybody's ears perked up at the sound of her name. The mysterious exchange student that waltzed into Beacon Hills one day and brightened up Isaac's life, effectively lightening the hearts of the whole pack. "She's been acting really weird lately. She keeps cleaning her apartment, like she's waiting for someone to visit. And her emotions keep fluctuating between ecstatic excitement to crippling nervousness. I don't know what's going on."
"Did she tell you anyone was coming over?" Erica asked.
"No. No one."
"Did anything at all happen this weekend?" Isaac stopped to think.
"Well, she did get this call a few days ago. She was surprised to get it. And for most of the conversation she was happy."
"What was she talking about?" Erica asked.
"I don't know. They were speaking Japanese the whole time."
"Well, do you at least know who she was talking to?" Asked Lydia.
"She said it was this guy named Sesshoumaru." He went on to tell the group all of the little that she had told him about her past. Although he was trying not to show it, even Derek was slightly interested in this new development.
"So you're telling us that your girlfriend was caught up in some bad stuff when she was in Japan. Her bestfriend was possibly murdered, and now a year later his older brother has called her and now she's feeling anxious?" Stiles asked for clarification. Isaac nodded. "Well the only conclusion I can draw from this is that your girlfriend is either running from the Yakuza or is part of it." Scott gave Stiles a deadpanned look.
"That makes no sense Stiles. You don't have enough information to even draw up that kind of conclusion."
"Wait." Said Lydia. "You said these guys names were Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru, right?" She asked Isaac. He nodded his head. "Well I just looked up those names and the translations make me think that Stiles might be onto something."
"What are they?" Asked Erica.
"Sesshoumaru means 'killing perfection' and Inuyasha means 'Dog Demon'. If those aren't gang names, I don't know what are."
"Yeah, Stiles, don't you remember that time last year, when Kagome was trying to give us pointers on kidnapping?" Scott asked.
"What? Kagome wouldn't do that." Isaac defended.
"That's not the point, she was telling us that she used to get kidnapped all of the time when she was younger and that she was involved in some stuff..." Finished Scott.
"Yakuza.." Stiles sang eerily.
"Finally, things around here are getting interesting." Chimed Lydia. Everyone shared a silent glance around the room, which they were startled out of when Isaac's phone chimed. Isaac pulled it out and read the text, slight frown marring his features.
"What does it say?" Asked Erica.
"'Old friends coming to visit. I'm so excited. I would love for you to meet them, but if you're busy, that's okay. They should be here within the hour.'" Isaac read from the screen.
"That was an invitation for a field trip if I ever heard one." Lydia said, getting up and pulling Cora with her out of the door. "We'll see you guys there." At her quick departure, everyone else started moving.
"Wait guys, if she's going to reunite with some old friends, don't you think that she might not want us all there? Especially if they're affiliated with who we think they're affiliated with..." Isaac trailed off.
"Yeah, well, if you think that I'm gonna miss out on meeting some real life gangsters, you are sorely mistaken." Stiles said, Scott following after.
"Derek!" Isaac whined.
"There's no helping it, pup. To the Camaro." Derek replied with a shrug. The allure of a mystery that wouldn't upset the supernatural balance of Beacon Hills was too much for him to ignore.
"Hey you guys!" I gushed at seeing all my Beacon Hills friends at the door to my apartment. "It's so good to see you all. Come in, come in!"
"See Isaac, I told you Kagome wouldn't mind." Stiles said, plopping down on the couch.
"Not at all. Since you guys are here Sessh and Ship won't tease me about being a totally weird loner!" I smiled, grabbing Isaac's cheeks and rubbing our noses together. For some reason, he was really anxious. Hopefully that calmed him down a bit. "Oh Peter." My smiled dimmed a bit seeing the Creeperwolf there "Well, since you're already here, why don't you come inside? Stay away from Lydia though." I warned.
"Peter! What are you doing here?!" Derek growled. Isaac played with my fingers as I bounced in place in excitement.
"So Kagome, where's all the grub? When people come over, you're supposed to be a hospitable host. You know, food, other stuff..." Stiles pointed out.
"Oh. They go by a very strict diet." Meat so raw it was running only moments earlier. "So all I have for them is tea."
"Ahh..vegans.." Stiles nodded. Yeah. Not quite.
"Oh nephew, I heard through the grapevine that the lovely Kagome had some guests that were coming to visit. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see the kind of people she use to surround herself with." Peter grinned.
"How did you even know that. You weren't in the loft when Isaac found out. What do you have to place wired or something?" Peter's reluctance to answer that question left everyone feeling a bit more creeped out than usual.
"Well anyway, one of my friend that is coming will probably be able to answer your Kanima poison question. He's pretty knowledgeable about, well, pretty much everything." I said to Derek. All of the sudden, I picked up the fast approaching auras I had been waiting for. I froze in place, my sudden stillness drawing all eyes to me.
"They're here!" I yelled. Running to put on my jacket. "Okay, you guys stay here, I'll go down and get them. I'm so excited. I know you guys are gonna love them! Well, at least one of them!" I yelled back to them as I ran down to the street.

Everyone gathered at the windows, where we could see a now still Kagome waiting at the curb outside of the apartment complex. After moments a sleek black car pulled up to where she stood. First to get out was a tall male in the passenger's seat. He had long reddish brown hair, tied in a high pony tail. Before he completely got out of the car Kagome attacked him with hugs and kisses. My wolf growled at her displays of affection towards this male, and it must have been more vocal than I'd thought because it garnered a lot of sideways glances. She then began tracing his face like she hadn't seen him in years and hadn't thought she'd see him again ever. Even from four stories up, I could smell her tears.
After she glomped the red haired male one last time, she stared pointedly at the glass window of the car until the driver's door opened. Out stepped a male slightly taller then the first with silver hair in a low ponytail. He had on aviators and unlike the red haired male's happy and easygoing demeanor, his countenance was severe. Kagome stepped to him silently, until they were a few feet away, keeping eye contact the whole way. After a few minutes of the staring contest, he took off his shades, tucking them into his jacket. He then nodded at Kagome who reciprocated with a blinding smile. He closed the last few feet between them a picked her up, nuzzling their cheeks together, which brought another round of growls from deep inside me. Finally, he let her down and she grabbed each of their hands, dragging them inside of the building. Someone inside of the room decided that a cracked window would do a world of good. So when the tall silver-haired male spoke,
"Miko, you will tell this Sesshoumaru why you smell of wolves."
Everyone with superhearing in the room froze, and then looked at each other, before relaying what had just happened with the non auditory enhanced members of the group.
Kagome just giggled.

"Sesshoumaru, you'll just have to wait to meet my friends." I smiled, and turned to Shippou. "Don't play any tricks on them for at least a half an hour, you have to let them get used to you first." I instructed. He gave a long suffering sigh but nodded. "Good. I'm so happy." I hugged my guys' arms closer to me. Finally, we were at my door, I could hear a lot of shuffling happening inside, like my friends were moving around a lot for some reason. Apparently, before we went in, both Sesshoumaru and Shippou heard something that caused them great amusement. Shippou basically busted out laughing, while Sesshoumaru had a small curl to his lips, that was as good as it was going to get.
IDK if anyone notices or cares, but the part of this chapter that transitions into Sesshoumaru's phone call is actually a really old chapter. I believe it was either the first or second ever written. You can tell because there's an author's note in the first paragraph talking about my other fanfic (when at that time I only had two fanfics going). Yep, it's there smack dab in the middle, and I stopped doing that because one of my reviewers so kindly asked me to, since it was distracting. I didn't take it out this time though for the sake of nostalgia. You also might recognize some of these parts from those teasers I gave you a few chapters back. Yeah.
Ren!
