June 1, 2013

Mercedes lay in her bed smiling to herself. Today was her wedding day! The month and a half had passed in a blur since Sam had asked her to marry him. Twirling her engagement ring on her finger she let out a giggle; she would become Mrs. Samuel Evans in 12 hours. Who would have thought that she would be marrying the man of her dreams; that she would be so happy that she felt like she could float.

So much happened in such a short time if not for Tina, her mom, Sam's mom and Jilly she would still be staring at the wall in shock. They had rallied around her and things just seemed to fall into place. They were getting married in Lima, at Mercedes church. It all seemed like a dream but every time she thought it was a dream all she had to do was look down at her ring.

Suddenly her phone began to ring, seeing it was Sam she couldn't help but to giggle. "Good morning Mr. Evans"

"Good morning Mrs. Evans, I just wanted your voice to be the first thing I heard this morning." Sam's voice was low and husky.

Mercedes could feel herself melt, she loved when his voice was all husky and sexy, it made her wet just hearing him. "Sam stop, you're not helping the situation!" she giggled as he laughed.

"Babe, you were the one to say no sex for a month before we got married. So it's your fault we're in this situation. If it was up to me you would be walking down the aisle with our first baby inside you."

"Sam I can't with you!"

"It's not that you can't, you just won't. Trust me I tried."

"But think how much fun we're going to have tonight. You can do everything you have dreamed of doing, all night long." Mercedes purred into the phone.

Sam licked his lips at the thought of finally getting to be with her after so long. "Baby, I'm letting you know now. The first time tonight I'm fucking you through the mattress, after that I'll make love to you, but we're gonna fuck first then make love the rest of the night."

Mercedes laughed, "Please, I already knew that, all I ask is you wait till we get in the room."

Sam blew out a breath, "I can't promise you that, but I'll try."

They were both silent as they thought of the past month, being with each other yet not being with each other. Making out only got you so far, in their case it wasn't far enough. They had been tempted many times but they pulled back. Neither had never taken so many cold showers.

"Sam we can't have our first time as husband and wife in the back of a limo."

"Mercy, if I didn't think we would get struck by lightning I would take you as soon as they pronounce us man and wife."

Mercedes laughed at the thought. "Boy, you are so crazy, you would scare the hell out the little kids there not to mention our parents would kill us."

Before Sam could reply he heard a knock on his door. "Baby I got to go someone's at the door. I'll see you in 11 hours. I'll be the guy standing next to the preacher with blue balls and a big grin." Sam could hear her laughter, "Love you Mrs. Evans, see you soon baby."

"Love you too Mr. Evans, I'll see your horny ass soon." Mercedes shook her head as she set her phone down. What was she going to do with Sam, the man had no filters at times. But she loved that about him and she found out that she had less filters than she thought. Must be Sam rubbing off on her.

Sam opened the door to see Mike standing there with a huge grin on his face. "What the hell are you cheesing about?"

Mike smirked, "Not getting any nookie has turned you into a surly ass!" Laughing he slapped Sam on the back, "Cheer up dude, in about 18 hours you will be married and you can have nookie 24/7"

"I'm getting married in less than 11 hours" Sam rolled his eyes, like he needed a damn countdown.

Mike check his nails, "But you won't be able to do shit until you guys leave the reception, so tack on those hours…no nookie for at least 18 hours." He dodged, laughing as Sam threw a shoe at him.

Sam pulled on his sneakers, "let's go for a run then stop for breakfast. I need to burn some of this energy."

Mercy spent the day getting mani and pedi's, and a massage with Tina and Jilly. They kept her laughing and relaxed. Finally it was time for her to get dressed for her wedding. Her mother, Carol and Sam's mother, Mary, along with Tina and Jilly made it a time to remember. They all sat in the chairs in her dressing room at the church getting their make-up and hair done. Mercy's makeup was soft glamour with smoky eyes, her lips a lush plum color. They had pulled her hair up into an elegant chignon with feathered bangs just brushing her eyebrows. A delicate tiara was placed on her head. She had decided on no necklace instead letting the sweetheart neckline showcase the girls. Her dress was a white satin mermaid with a vine applique down to the beginnings of the flaring skirt. The lace up back and court train added to the elegance of her dress.

"Let's see do you have everything," Mary ticked the items off her on her fingers, "Something old?"

"My mother's diamond earrings." Carol volunteered

"Something new?"

"Sam sent me a diamond bracelet." Mercedes held out her wrist.

"Something borrowed?"

"She's got my tiara" Jilly chimed in

"Something blue?"

"Her garter." Tina giggled.

"That's everything." Mary nodded with satisfaction.

"How do I look?" Spinning slowly Mercedes smiled, she felt beautiful.

"BEAUTIFUL!" The all shouted as one and began to laugh as they dabbed at the tears in their eyes.

Sam paced around the dressing room, in an hour he would be married to Mercy. He thought the day would never come. Opening the door to peek out he was surprised to see his father, Dwight and Mercedes' father, Dean. Jumping back he stumbled but caught himself, hearing Mike laugh behind him.

"Wow, you guys scared me!" He blushed as they laughed at him.

"Were you hoping to catch a glimpse of Mercy?' Dwight teased him as he traded a fist bump with Carl.

"No…no just looking that's all…" Sam knew he was lying but he wasn't about to admit it to the two of them. "So what's going on?"

"We just came to check on you, see if you had any questions." Dwight coughed to hide his laughter.

"About your wedding night…we want it to be good for Mercy." Carl put on his stern face.

Sam sat down abruptly, "I-I don't think I have any-any q-questions!"

The fathers looked at each other and dissolved into laughter.

"We came to tell you it's time to head out son," Dwight finally got out between gasps of laughter.

Carl snorted, "Damn this boy is gullible!" He handed Dwight ten dollars. "Between you and Carol making and winning bets on Sam I'm going to be in the poor house."

Sam turned beet red as Mike snickered behind him and collected his ten dollars from Carl too. Glaring at the three of them he growled, "Let's go."

Following him out the room the three men traded fist bumps as they chuckled.

Standing at the altar Sam could feel his palm sweating. He had been waiting on this day since he first laid eyes on Mercedes. Now she was going to be his wife in…he checked his watch, in less than an hour. As the music began to play he took a deep breath, it was time. He watched as each of the bridesmaids walked down the aisle, they were all lovely but they weren't who he wanted to see. Hearing the music change to the wedding march he looked at his parents who flashed him big smiles of encouragement. The doors opened and Mercedes and her father stepped through and his world shrunk down to just the vision that was Mercedes as she made her way towards him.

Mercedes clutched her father's arm. "Daddy…" Her smile trembled as she watched the last of her bridesmaids pass through the doors.

Carl smiled down at his only daughter with tears in his eyes, "Babygirl, don't be nervous. Sam is a wonderful man and he loves you. If I didn't believe that trust me, I would not be standing here with you now. Giving him my most precious jewel." Leaning down he kissed her head.

"Thank you daddy, I love him so much. I see much of you in him. He's kind, strong, loyal, loving…everything I could ever want." She took a deep breath as she heard the music change. "Let's do this, I'm ready daddy."

Her father kissed her again on the head, "Goodbye Mercedes Jones, hello Mrs. Sam Evans." Patting her hand they stepped through the door, heading towards her future.

Mercedes eyes locked with Sam's and all her nerves melted away. He was so handsome standing there in his tux, he was the only thing she could see, her eyes couldn't leave his even if she tried. Before she knew it her father was kissing her cheek and shaking Sam's hand as he placed her hand in Sam's.

Grasping Mercedes hand, he kissed it as she took her place beside him, "You look stunning baby. You take my breath away." He kissed her hand again, "I love you."

Mercedes blushed at his words, "Thank you my love, you are so very handsome." Squeezing his hand she smiled softly, "I love you Sam."

Pastor Wilson cleared his throat, getting their attention, smiling at them both he spread his hands. "We are gathered here today to join in holy matrimony Samuel James Evans and Mercedes Ilana Jones. Who gives this woman to be wed?"

"Her mother and I" Carl stood, proudly proclaiming the honor. Taking his seat he held his wife's hand as she dabbed her eyes.

"Our opening prayer will be given by Mr. Martin Jones, the bride's uncle." The pastor stepped aside as the older man approached the couple.

"Let us bow our heads. God, we ask for your blessings upon Sam and Mercedes as we celebrate this momentous occasion in their lives. Grant them happiness and contentment as they take this journey together, exploring their love for one another. Bless their families and friends which have supported, strengthened and sustained them throughout their lives. When times grow hard and tempers grow short, help them to look into their hearts and remember the love that brought them here today. In your son's name I pray. Amen."

The pastor smiled, "Marriage is not to be entered into lightly, but reverently, passionately and lovingly. Into this Samuel and Mercedes now come to be joined. If any person can show just cause why they may not be joined together let them speak now or forever hold their peace."

Carl and Dwight glanced around daring anyone to interrupt their children's wedding. There would be hell to pay if anyone opened their mouth. Hearing no objections, they beamed as they nodded at each other.

"Sam and Mercedes have written their own vows" Pastor Wilson stated, "Sam" He smiled at the young man before him.

Sam cleared his throat as he held Mercedes hand, "Today is our wedding day, a day I have waited anxiously for since the moment I laid eyes on you. Many would say that we've moved too fast. But how can it be too fast if you've met that one person that completes you? That makes your heart sing?" He placed her hand over his heart. "I promise to be honest with you, to always listen to you. I know there will be times when we will be angry with each other, but I promise to never go to bed in anger. To never not honor our vows of love and commitment to each other. I promise to be your lover, your friend. The one you can come to when the world has hurt you. I promise to shelter you and keep you safe. To be your anchor in times of stormy weather." He kissed her hand, "I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how…unconditionally"

Pastor Wilson turned to Mercedes and nodded, "Mercedes"

Mercedes blinked to stay the tears Sam's vows of love had brought to her eyes. Squeezing his hand she smiled softly at him. "Sam I know that I was meant to walk through life at your side. I give you my heart, my soul, my body. I trust you with my life." She wiped a tear from her cheek. "I will always honor and cherish you. I never questioned our love or how quickly we fell in love. It was as if it was preordained. I promise to love you always, to be your comfort when you are hurting. To share in your joy as well as your pain. I promise to never go to sleep with anger in my heart. You are my lover and friend. I vow my love and eternal devotion to you.

"Do you have your ring?" The pastor asked Sam, at his nod he smiled. "Place the ring on her left hand and speak what is in your heart."

Sam took the ring from Mike with a smile of thanks. Taking Mercedes hand he slipped the ring on her finger, "I place this ring on your hand as a symbol of my love for you. All that I have, all that I am, all I will ever be I lay at your feet. I, Samuel James Evans take thee Mercedes Ilana Jones to be my lawfully wedded wife. In good times and bad. In sickness and in health, for now and always." Bringing her hand to his lips, he kissed the ring on her finger.

"Mercedes, your ring for Sam please. Place it on his left hand and speak what is in your heart."

Mercedes accepted the ring from Tina, flashing her a quick grin. "Sam, like this ring our love has no beginning and no end…it just is and always will be. I place this ring on your finger secure in your love for me. In our love for each other. I, Mercedes Ilana Jones, take you, Samuel James Evans, to be my lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health for as long as we both shall live."

Pastor Wilson beamed at the couple, "By the power vested in me by the State of Ohio, I now pronounce you husband and wife. What God has blessed let no man tear asunder." He gestured to Sam, "You may now kiss your bride."

Sam and Mercedes gazed into each other's eyes, neither quite believing they were finally married.

"Kiss her dude!" Mike hissed behind him

Blushing Sam gathered Mercedes close, "Hello Mrs. Evans."

"Hello Mr. Evans" Mercedes smiled softly

Lowering his head Sam kissed her passionately, pouring all his love and need for her into this one kiss. Feeling someone tap his shoulder he pushed at the hand.

"Sam, dude…we're in a church!" Mike tugged on his shoulder.

Sam lifted his head, a dazed expression on his face. The only thing registering in his mind was that finally Mercy was his wife. Hearing the laughter and snickers he blushed, "Oh…shi-crap…sorry pastor."

Mercedes giggled as Sam blushed, truth be told she had forgotten where they were too. Patting Sam's cheek she pecked his lips softly, "It's okay baby…I'm your wife…you can kiss me anyway you want to."

Sam's eyes lit up, "I'm going to hold you to that Mrs. Evans."

Pastor Wilson cleared his throat, "May I present to you…Mr. and Mrs. Sam Evans"

All the guest stood, clapping and cheering loudly. Mercedes and Sam turned to face their guests, grinning, holding hands tightly as they beamed at the crowd. Grabbing Mercy's hand Sam hurried her out the church, pictures, and the reception and then he could get his wife alone after what seemed like an eternity.
