He held her hand tightly as they walked up to the tower. She kept on glancing at him, watching for any signs to know why they were here. He had refused to tell her anything, the only words he had said to her in the past few hours was when they had landed. She had been sitting on the seat next to console watching him. He had been unusually quiet that day.

After pressing a final button he stretched his hand out to her, "come on Clara." She didn't ask where they were or why they were there. She could tell he wasn't in the mood for questions. They stood in front of the iconic Parisian landmark, his face stone cold.

"Doctor?" She asked finally breaking the silence no longer able to contain her curiosity.

"Yes Clara?" He glanced down at her. Sadness was barely noticeable in his voice but obvious in his eyes. He turned to look back at the tower, his hand swinging gently back and forth with hers.

"Are you okay?" he looked back down at her with a small smile.

"Clara…before you started to travel with me, before River or Amelia or even the brilliant Dona Noble there was Rose."

"Rose?"

"Mmmm yes, Rose Tyler. She was fantastic she was." He sat down on the grass and she followed suit. "You see Rose was, well Rose was…uhh…she was Rose. We went here together once. Years ago…oh so long ago."

"Is she…I mean is she…"

"Oh no," the Doctor said quickly knowing the words his companion was going to utter. "No, Rose is very, very much alive." Clara nodded and continued to let the Doctor speak. "I miss her, some days are better than others though. Today, today isn't one of those days." They continued to sit in the shadow of the tower. "Do…do you want to see her?" He asked standing back up and walking towards the Tardis.

She followed after him, closing the door when she stepped into the time machine. He was already pushing buttons and pulling levers. The Tardis made its familiar noise and stopped moving. He grabbed Clara's hand again and pulled her out of the machine that had become invisible.

"Are we in a shop?" She asked seeing the clothes surrounding them. He nodded pulling the brunette behind a large pile of jeans. She watched him as his eyes searched the entire room as he crouched down on the floor, not wanting to be seen.

"Oh!" He said as he nudged her excitedly, "do you see the blonde, over there?" He pointed to one of the employees who was folding a pile of men's jumpers humming quietly to herself.

"Is that her?" Clara asked taking in the sight of the young blond.

"Yes," he was quiet for several moments as he watched her.

"She's quite young."

"This…this is before she started to travel with me. She hasn't met me yet." Clara nodded standing up.

"Clara! Where are you going?" He asked in a loud whisper as his companion walked across to the blonde. Not listening to him she approached Rose.

"Hello." Rose glance up, surprised to see Clara smiling at her.

"Oh, hello. Do you need any help?" Rose stopped folding clothes to look at the woman.

"Oh no…not necessarily I just need help with a bet if that's okay."

"Uh what kind of help?"

"So my friend bet me that if I could get a girl, that wasn't me, to hug my other friend," she pointed over at the Doctor, "that bloke over there for longer than thirty seconds, she'd make me my lunch for a month."

"That's a…uh a strange bet." Clara shrugged.

"Could you do it for me? I know it's a little weird but I'll give you, uh," Clara glanced down, "my bracelet." She pulled the bracelet off and held it out to Rose.

"No I don't want your bracelet."

"You won't do it then?" Rose shook her head and looked at the other woman.

"No, I'll do it." Rose put down the shirt she was holding and started to walk towards the time lord.

"Oh Rose, don't tell him I sent you." Clara said before Rose got too far off.

"How'd you know my name?" Rose asked confusion visible on her face.

"Uh, your nametag," Clara said noticing that Rose was wearing a nametag for the first time. She nodded.

The Doctor's heart started to race as Rose walked up to him. "Hello, you okay?" She asked looking down at him. The Doctor stood up his eyes reading every detail of her that he hadn't seen in years. His mind was whirling, out of shock, to get any words out.

"Uh, yeah I…I'm good."

"You sure?" She asked smiling at him, a smile that made his hearts jump out of his chest.

"I think so," he said smiling back at her.

"So I know this is strange, but I'm going to hug you now, if that's okay?" He nodded in shock, as she pulled him into a hug, not waiting for a response. He held her tightly back, holding back the tears in his eyes the best he could. "My names Rose by the way," she said still holding onto him, "what's yours?"

"Uh…John, John Smith," She pulled back, her arms still around him, so that she could see his face.

"It's nice to meet you John…sorry if I scared you at all."

"Oh no," he said shaking his head furiously, "no you didn't scare me at all Rose." She smiled at him again before a voice came on over the intercom system.

"Assistance needed in the shoe department, assistance needed in the shoe department."

"Oh that's me," Rose said letting go of the Doctor, "it was nice to meet you John."

"It was nice to meet you too Rose." She smiled at him one more time before jogging off towards the shoe department. Clara came over to him as he stared after Rose. "You are in serious trouble Clara Oswald."

"Good," Clara said grinning at him as they stepped back into the Tardis.

"Okay, ready?" He held his hands over her eyes as they stepped out of the blue box.

"Ready for what, where are we Doctor?" She questioned him as they stopped. She could feel his smile as his hands dropped. "We're in Paris!" Rose said spinning around to see him, her smile enormous. "I've never been to Paris. We'll except for that time with Madame de Pompadour, but that really doesn't count."

"Never? You sure Rose Smith?"

"Yes, quite sure John Tyler."

"I thought we agreed on Smith." The human Doctor said pulling her into his arms as she looked out at the view of Paris that they had from the roof of the building they were on.

"Eh, not quite sure about that one yet, and yes I'm sure. I'd remember if I'd been to Paris before." His eyes searched hers as she turned back to look at him. "I haven't have I? Did I forget something?"

"No, no it' nothing. Did…did you ever have a dream of going to Paris, with me that is?" Her smile faded as she looked at him, her eyes wide.

"I did, how'd you know that?"

"When?"

"Uh before the Daleks and the Cybermen, right before I got stuck here for the first time."

"Did we go to airport with Mickey and Disney?"

"Yes! What are you saying Doctor?" He smiled down at her, his arms wrapped around her waist.

"Rose Tyler that wasn't a dream,"

"It wasn't?"

"No, it was all real."

"So, everything…everything that happened in my dream…was…was…"

"True, yes." He brushed a thick strand of blonde hair behind her ear as she smiled at him. He leaned down so that their noses were touching. Lips barely separated.

"I always thought it was a dream, I was embarrassed by it actually."

"Why?" He asked his eyebrows bunching in confusion.

"I didn't want you to know how head over heels in love I was with you." She smiled letting her tongue stick out from in between her teeth.

"I was in love with you too."

"I guess we were just a pair of idiots then," she said, letting out a small smile.

"We were?"

"Yeah a pair of idiots in love, traveling the universe together."

"You know what Rose?"

"What Doctor?"

"Those are my favorite kinds of idiots," and he kissed her, just like he had the last time they had been in Paris together.
