A/N: This is set shortly before chapter one of NHE. Enjoy!
Guess what I'm reading right now.
Here's a hint: Disclaimer no Jutsu!
Hiei flitted through the corridor, faster than the human eye, pausing only when he reached patches of shadow. His dark cloak kept him hidden well as he went farther and farther into the base of operations.
Kitsune no baka. He thought darkly. If it weren't for Kurama's annoying and ever present curiosity, he could have been off somewhere doing something useful- like helping Mukuro torture people- instead of wasting his time spying on these pitiful humans.
When Kurama had first asked him to look into SHIELD, he had flatly refused. He wasn't sure how the fox had convinced him to do it now.
Well, at least he had gotten something useful out of it. A new skill.
Kurama had shown him how to 'hack' a computer. Apparently it was a skill that was essential to thievery in the modern day. Hiei normally wouldn't be interested in anything to do with the strange devices that humans used, but if Kurama claimed it was that useful for information gathering- well, Hiei could certainly find some us for the skill.
Especially since according to Kurama, Koenma was currently trying to upgrade to an all computer, 'paperless' system.
He couldn't help but let a malicious grin spread across his face at the thought of breaking into the brat's records whenever he pleased. Anything that had the potential to annoy the ruler of Reikai was a good thing in Hiei's book.
He paused now, and took stock of his surroundings.
He had entered a small, empty office. On the desk was a tablet.
Perfect.
He examined the walls from his shadowy corner, but didn't see any of the motion detectors or cameras that the fox had warned him about, so he walked over to the table and turned the human device on.
It didn't take him long to crack the passcode, and then he began to look through the tablet for information that the fox might want.
After a few minutes of browsing, he pulled out the small metal and plastic stick that Kurama had given him, and stuck it into the thing called a 'USB port,' then began to download information onto it.
A thorough map of the world with all major SHIELD bases. Check.
Floor plans for the 'hellicarrier,' which was apparently what this thing was called. Check.
Detailed list of security measures in place. Check.
List of members of the organization. Check.
And just one more thing. He searched for 'Reikai,' then clicked on the file that came up. Hiei read over it in the span of a few seconds, and was slightly amused by how little these people knew.
Nonetheless, he downloaded the file as well, then pulled the stick out and turned the device off.
Footsteps coming toward the room made him turn sharply, then disappear into the shadows once more.
A dark man with an eye patch walked in. He was talking angrily into a headset, as he stalked over to his desk.
Hiei could have made it out if the room before the automatic door had even closed, but he decided to stay for a moment, to see if the man would notice his handiwork or not. After a few minutes of waiting, his curiosity was sated. The man opened the tablet, and then stared at it for a moment, before suddenly exploding into action.
He practically yelled into the headset that there had been a security breach, and Hiei smirked as alarms began to blare, and he could here footsteps thunder down the hallways frantically.
Getting out would be harder than getting in, it seemed. He smirked. This would be fun.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
"You look like you had fun."
Hiei snorted and threw Kurama the stick that he had downloaded everything on. The fox caught it gracefully, with one of those signature knowing smiles of his. "It was too easy. Why didn't you go yourself?"
"I already told you, my schedule has been so busy lately, I just don't have the time. Besides, you've been in Makai too long. I thought this would be a good break."
"Hnn. Well, next time you plan me a vacation, try to think of something more challenging."
Kurama's smile was starting to get really annoying. "I'll keep that in mind. Are you staying, or are you too eager to get back to Mukuro?"
Hie twitched slightly, and he knew instinctively that the fox was trying not to laugh.
"I might as well stay for a while." He muttered. It would give him a chance to see how Yukina was doing.
"Oh, good. It'll be nice to have you around. The team's just not the same without you."
Hiei rolled his eyes, then flitted out the window and began to make his way through the trees.
"Stupid fox." He said quietly, to no one in particular.
End-
A/N: And Hiei takes the stage once more. Probably because Kurama is dominating the main story line, so my muses decided to try and balance it out. Anyway, the very thought of Hiei on a computer sends me into giggles. And once again, someone pulls one over Fury. I love it when that happens. I think this is mostly because I read the 'Ultimate Spider-Man' comic, and Fury screws with Peter(My first and favorite Marvel Hero) so much, he just makes me mad. Therefore, anything that disgruntles the man puts me in a good humor.
Reviewers will be sent imaginary cream puffs via my awesome telepathic powers.
Not.
(Sorry, I would if I could)
