"Endings are hard. Any chapped-ass monkey with a keyboard can poop out a beginning, but endings are impossible. You try to tie up every loose end, but you never can. The fans are always gonna bitch. There's always gonna be holes. And since it's the ending, it's all supposed to add up to something. I'm telling you, they're a raging pain in the ass." –Chuck

I am so happy that so many of you enjoyed reading this story as much as I enjoyed writing it. Truthfully, I feel bad leaving it, but I'm afraid this is where the road ends for 'Winchester's'. I have practically fallen in love with this story and it never occurred to me that I'm going to be the one that hates the ending the worst. I wish that I could keep writing because I love writing this, but it wouldn't make any sense. It would be a million chapters long and you would be begging me to end it.

Sam was in charge of opening the bar Sunday morning. He didn't really mind not because he enjoyed getting up early, but because it was a beautiful day. He took one of the buses that stopped two blocks away from his house there. The bus wasn't that crowded yet. It was in between breakfast and lunch, so not that many people were out. In an hour or two they would be full. Sam stuffed his hands into his pockets before he began walking to the bar. It was still a little colder than he would have preferred, but nothing too bad. He and Dean had spent a winter in upper New York and after that he vowed never to do that again. Three feet of snow in a night was too much.

Jo and Benny were already at the bar when Sam walked to the back. They were sitting on the small step that leads to the back door. He pulled the key out of his pocket before shoving it into the lock. The door swung open and they stepped into the kitchen. Jo shed her jacket and threw it into the small office.

"Is Ash coming today?"

Sam looked away from where he was hanging his coat. "Yea. I think it's not going to be until after lunch."

"Alright." Jo nodded in thanks before she began left the kitchen.

Benny pulled off his hat before sticking it on top of the coat rack. "Just you?"

"Dean's out yea."

"What about Gabriel?"

"He's not coming until later, why?"

"I just thought that he enjoyed working here, that's all." Benny smirked as he turned his back on Sam.

"Yea, I guess."

"Did you ever think of hiring him?"

Sam shrugged. "I dunno."

Benny turned back towards Sam. "Do you think that he likes it?"

"Working? Yea. For whatever reason. He doesn't like doing anything else useful for me."

Benny laughed. "Do you like him?"

"Yea Benny." Sam leaned against one of the counters before looking back at Benny.

"Like serious like him?"

"Did Dean put you up to this?" Sam questioned.

"Maybe. But I think that if you two really like each other and it's not going to be something that's going to fall though in a month, it wouldn't hurt to try."

"Do you like him?"

Benny chuckled, "You're the one dating him, not me."

"That's not what I meant."

"No, I think that you two get along really well, and I know that Dean thinks highly of him. I didn't tell you that, though. He would never admit it. He needs to keep the whole 'scary older brother' look."

Smiling, Sam nodded, "Thanks Benny."

"No problem brother."

Sam gave a smile before he went into the main part of the bar. It was perfectly put together, like it is every night before Dean went home. The glasses were all on the shelves and the chairs were pushed neatly under the tables, like they were every night before Jo went home. Sam would complain about working at the bar every now and then, but it was as much of a home as his apartment. Imagining never working here made him dejected. It was technically Dean's, but he put as much of his heart into it too.

"Just going to stand there all day?" Jo asked from where she was unlocking the front door.

"No, I just haven't opened the bar in a while and I kinda forgot how clean it looked."

"So you like it better when there isn't shit all over the tables too?"

Sam rolled his eyes. "It's just nice. I think that we should redecorate later."

"Dean and your call. Not mine."

"You work here too!" Sam exclaimed as he turned on the music that floated around the bar. AC/DC began playing as Sam walked away.

"Doesn't seem to stop the music that plays."

"That's up to Dean and Dean only. He nearly had a heart attack when he turned it on and found one of your CDs in the player."

"That's what he gets." Jo said with a satisfied smirk.

"For only playing mullet rock? I know. It sucked driving with him. It was always mullet rock."

"I pity you." Jo grabbed the apron that she wore and tied it around her waist.

"I try not to think about it." Sam grinned as Jo began laughing.

Sam walked behind the counter and began playing with some of the pens that were scattered up and down the bar. Besides them, there were some notepads.

"Are you doing anything later today?" Sam continued flipping through the notebook before looking up at Jo.

"Benny and I were planning on going out to dinner." She shrugged.

"That's cool."

"What about you and Gabriel?"

"Is it grill Sam about Gabriel day?"

"Depends. Do you want it to be?" Jo asked and after a slight pause added, "Why?"

"Benny already asked me about him."

"Did he? Oh. What did he say?"

"Just about him working here." Sam shrugged.

"What did you say?"

"Depends on him, truthfully."

"Whatever. What did you two do yesterday?"

Rolling his eyes, Sam answered, "He drove me to the restaurant that we went to when he first took me to lunch. Then we went to the museum, which was amazing by the way. I think we spent most of the day there. Anyway, we also went to the new candy store that opened."

"Missy's?"

"Yea. It was actually really nice. After that we went to my place and watched horror movies."

Jo san, "You're in love with him!"

Sam laughed, "Not that I need to be told that."

People began filtering into the bar, making Jo leave the counter. He began serving the few people that were sitting at the bar. Most of Stanford's classes started on Monday, so he wasn't too surprised to see many faces that he saw in passing in classes. The majority of the students that came in were only there for a drink of two, but promised to come back later in the night.

For working at a bar, he didn't understand the love that students had to get completely wasted the day before class started. It wasn't like you could function properly while you were. Some of the students couldn't even hide that they spent the night out drinking. Dean kept telling him that if he didn't show up to one of his classes drunk before he graduated, Dean wasn't going to recognize him as his brother anymore. His logic was that if you go to college, you need to do the entire college experience, not just the studying. Sam always tuned him out when he started talking about that.

Dean and Cas were sitting in the impala with the windows down as Dean drove down a back road while the radio was blasting Led Zeppelin. Cas was admiring the scenery before it flew by in a colorful blur. He looked over at Dean, who was tapping his hands to the beat of the song and silently mouthing the words. They were at least an hour away from Palo Alto. Cas woke up to the sound of Dean in the kitchen that morning and once he was dressed, they left.

Dean pulled the car off to the side of the road and began driving down the gravel drive. Cas stared at Dean as he pulled into an open field before turning the engine off.

"Ta-da." Dean said dramatically.

Cas looked out of the front windshield before looking back at Dean. "Did you know that this was here?"

"Yea. I found it about a year ago. It's cooler if we sit on the hood, though."

Dean opened the door before motioning to Cas, "Coming?" He reached in the back seat before grabbing the cooler that was sitting there.

Cas was leaning against the windshield when Dean walked around front. The car was parked in the middle of an empty field that only had knee high weeds growing. There was a line of trees at the furthest end of it. The sky was clear blue with scattered clouds floating lazily around.

Dean looked back at Cas. He convinced him to wear jeans today because he shouldn't get his nice pants dirty. Besides a dark pair of jeans, Cas was wearing a light grey sweater with his trench coat pulled in over it. Dean admired the way that Cas's features seemed to relax as he watched a cloud.

"Beer?" Dean held up the cooler before he opened it.

"Sure." Cas took one of the beers that Dean had out before he looked back up at the sky.

Dean moved so he was sitting next to Cas on the hood of the impala.

"Isn't nature amazing?" Cas wondered aloud.

Dean just looked up at the sky before he sighed.

"It's incredibly relaxing. Not like down here. I think that it would be nice to relax on a cloud."

"I think that it might be a little cold."

Cas smirked, "If you continue finding sweaters for me, I doubt that would matter."

"If you're going to live on a cloud, what would you take?"

"You, maybe a book or two."

"Am I competing with a book."

"Maybe two."

Dean laughed, "Nice."

Shrugging, Cas continued, "It's not like it's a bad book."

They sat in silence before Dean asked, "How come I never hear about your family?"

"I guess it never comes up."

"You know about Sam."

"And you Gabriel."

"What about the rest of them?" Dean took a long drink of his beer before looking over at Cas.

"I am not on very good terms with most of them."

"What? They stole your G.I. Joe figures?"

"I didn't have any."

"Whatever. But tell me about them. I know names, but nothing to them. It's not like I'm going to judge you by them."

Cas reached into his pocket before pulling his wallet out. The picture of Dean smiled up at him, but he ignored it before he pulled out a slightly creased photo. "It's not that recent, maybe ten years, but it's one of the last ones of us together."

Dean took the picture. He spotted Cas right away. He was looking away at something off camera and had a slight smirk on his face. There were a bunch of other people, but none of them looked too happy to be there. Who Dean guessed were Cas's parents sat in the middle of the group of people with a young boy next to them.

"Who's that?" Dean pointed to the boy in the picture.

"Samandriel. He's the youngest."

Dean and Cas went through the picture naming the people that were standing around. Cas gave a very brief explanation on who they were before moving on to the next one. Dean smirked when they got to Gabriel.

"Impressive."

"What?" Cas looked closer at the picture before squinting at Dean.

"How did Gabriel manage to get away with flipping off the camera?"

Cas rolled his eyes and sighed. "It is one of the last ones of us all together, so I didn't care."

"Why don't you guys get a new one?"

"I'm afraid that we might kill each other."

"I guess having a big family would do that."

Cas shifted on the hood before he looked at Dean. "And what about you?"

"What about me?"

"Do you have any more siblings?"

"No, just Sammy and I."

"But you haven't lived in Palo Alto your entire life. Where did you guys come from?"

"Kansas. We moved when Sam got accepted into Stanford. He got in on a scholarship, but he still needed to pay for things." Dean looked up at the clear sky before continuing, "I knew that dad wouldn't pay for it. He didn't want Sam to go to college. So we packed up the impala and drove. When we got here I took up odd jobs until I could open the bar."

Cas nodded. "That was an incredible thing for you to do."

"I guess. It's just I want the best for him."

"What about for you?"

"I'm happy." Dean grinned. "What is your tragic past?"

"I was going to school to help at my brother's business, but dropped out halfway to become a teacher. I guess my mom wasn't too happy about it at first, and neither was my brother. Then I started working at some high school in New York. One of my colleges knew someone at Stanford so when they had a position for a history professor, he helped put in a good word for me."

"Awesome." Dean moved closer before wrapping an arm around Cas.

"If that's what you want to call it. I spent most of my life trying to figure out what I wanted to do."

"If you know what you want to do when you are twenty, I envy you. I just found out what I wanted a few months ago."

"What?"

Dean moved so he was straddling Cas before cupping his face with his hands. "You." He brushed Cas's jaw with his fingers. "And I'm happy."

"Me too." Cas closed his eyes and sighed. "I'm glad about that night that Gabriel made me go to the bar. Otherwise, I doubt that we would be here right now."

Dean lightly kissed Cas before he looked at him again. His face was illuminated by the sun and he had a small twinkle in his eyes. Dean ran a hand through the dark hair before grinning. It stuck up in every direction again.

"Your hair is amazing."

"You're competing with books and I'm competing with my own hair. Great." Cas smirked when Dean blushed.

"I didn't mean it like that."

"I know." Cas pulled Dean closer to kiss him again. It was intoxicating. Maybe that was just the beer that he tasted in Dean's mouth.

"Fuck, Cas." Dean rolled off of Cas so they were sitting side by side again.

"Not now."

"I didn't really mean it. It's too nice out and I want to enjoy the day." Dean reached into the cooler and pulled out another bottle of beer. "Because I think that we need more of these slow days."

Sam was trying to serve costumers when the door opened to reveal Gabriel. He walked over to the bar before winking at Sam. Sam finished getting bottles for the small group of people sitting in front of him and went over to Gabriel. "Hey. I thought that you weren't coming in until later."

Gabriel shrugged. "Got bored."

"Where were you?"

"My place."

"Cas's?"

Gabriel frowned. "Yea."

"What?"

"I don't know. It was just kinda lonely."

"So you came here?"

"I suppose. Anything for me to do?"

"Doyouwannaworkatthebar?" Sam asked in one breath.

"I can't understand you."

"Do you want to work at the bar? Like a real job, not for fun."

Gabriel's face lit up. "Seriously?"

"Yea." Sam grinned.

"Yea! Sure! That's amazing!" Gabriel spun the chair before looking at Sam. "What made you ask?"

"I just figured that you don't really have too much of a job at the candy store anymore, and since we are trying to make this. . ." Sam trailed off before looking at Gabriel.

"You are the best!"

"You don't actually start as a worker until Dean fills all these papers out, but we already know how well that you work here, so it shouldn't take that long."

"That's alright." Gabriel stopped spinning the chair again and smiled. "So did you have fun yesterday?"

"Yea. It was incredible. I was just telling Jo about it earlier." Sam looked over at Jo.

They were interrupted when Ash came out of the kitchen. "Gabriel. Dude!" He greeted Gabriel before giving him a hug.

Gabriel looked at Ash. "Ash, how are you?"

"Great. I hear that you and Sam here. . ." Ash didn't finish, but he puckered his lips.

"I hear that mullets are out of style." Gabriel smirked.

"Business in the front, party in the back." Ash motioned to his hair before jumping on the stool next to Gabriel. "But how are you? I feel like it's been forever since I've been here."

"Yea, where were you?" Sam asked as he was putting a beer in front of Ash.

"Top Secret man. It was intense."

"I doubt that." Sam rolled his eyes.

"I was out of town working with some high class company. They needed someone to fix their firewalls. Competitors were breaking in and stealing secrets."

"Really? That sounds impressive." Gabriel nodded.

"I was. I got big bucks for it. Good thing too, I need a vacation."

"You practically live in a state of vacation." Sam pointed out.

"But whatever. I got my name out there. The company was impressed, so now I'm lining up jobs." Ash shrugged.

"That's amazing. Where do you think that you're going next?" Gabriel asked.

"Miami."

A woman came up and smiled at Ash. He smirked when she sat down next to her. He jerked his head toward he kitchen and Sam got the idea. He nodded toward Gabriel to follow. They went to the end of the bar and began talking again.

"I kinda like him." Gabriel smirked before looking at Sam.

"He has the effect on people. Like you."

"Yea. You were cute at first, I give you that, but you really grew on me."

"Like a fungus." Sam laughed.

"Well, I thought that you were cute at first, and now I know that you are amazing in every way." Gabriel smirked when Sam bit his cheek. "Like you're smart, funny, cute, and you are so loveable."

Sam glanced around the bar before he looked back at Gabriel. "I don't know what to say that."

"You could say that I'm handsome and amazing."

"You're handsome and amazing."

"So funny." Gabriel rolled his eyes.

"I'm not the funny one in the relationship. You are."

Sam and Gabriel's eyes met. Gabriel laughed before he looked back at Sam. His eyes looked like liquid gold shimmering in the light. And if eyes were the window to the soul, Gabriel had the purest.

Thank you to everyone that followed/ favorited this story throughout the months that it has been going on. I couldn't have asked for a better response.

Annie- Thank you for the review! I know the ending date seemed abrupt, but alas, what can you do? I'm so happy that you enjoyed the last chapter, and I hope that you enjoyed this one too!

Guest- I'm glad that you loved the last chapter! Thank you for the review!

ElkeCQuinn- I'm glad that you liked the vampirates! I'm sorry (not sorry) about being hard on Dean. Isn't the rule for writers to think of the worst thing that you can make your characters go through, then do it? Thank you for the review!

becca65d- I glad that you liked the chapter! Thank you for the review!

"No doubt - endings are hard. But then again... nothing ever really ends, does it?" -Chuck
