Hey, guys. It has been great writing this story, I've been working on it for a while and I really appreciate how many people were patient through this, especially since it took me almost three years to make it. I hope you enjoyed the story and hopefully I can write up something else for you to enjoy. I don't own any of the lyrics, they are all from various artists mixed together for the Pitch Perfect final. I own none of the music. Or Pitch Perfect. Obviously.
Also, I just wanted to send a quick reminder that cutting is never the answer to your problems. If you are struggling with cutting or depression or any mental illness, please know that help is out there. I wanted to convey in this story that cutting doesn't solve your problems, but there is hope. I hope if anyone out there is struggling, you can contact someone for help. You can get better from cutting, it may seem hopeless at first to quit but it isn't. It's completely possible. Please stay strong everyone.
Chapter Nineteen-
"Are you ready for this?" Beca whispered to Chloe backstage.
"For sure." Chloe smiled and kissed Beca on the cheek.
"I'm kind of nervous." Beca admitted.
"Don't be. You're kinda amazing and trust me, I know true genius when I see it." Chloe told her.
"Okay, you guys are being gross and we need to perform, okay?" Aubrey said walking past them.
"Sing on three?" Chloe asked, motioning the girls to circle up.
"One, two, three, ah!" The girls sang in perfect synch.
"Let's do this!" Beca exclaimed and followed the rest of the girls out. They waited, anxiously, until the heard the first note.
Seems like everybody's got a price
I wonder how they sleep at night
When the sale comes first and the truth comes second
Just stop for a minute and smile
Everybody look to the left
Everybody look to the right
Can you feel that yeah
We're paying with love tonight
Beca was preparing for her part emotionally in her head. She had been inspired by watching The Breakfast Club to do the song from the movie. She also wanted to give a shout out to Jesse, who had continued to be a huge part of her recovery process and was a great friend.
Beca watched intently as the other girls performed, feeling such a strong amount of pride for them. They had picked this up quickly and were doing a phenomenal job. She was so focused on the girls she almost missed her entrance.
Hey Hey Hey Hey Won't you come see about me
I'll be alone dancing you know it baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out
Don't you forget about me
As you walk on by
Will you call my name
As you walk on by
Will you call my name
Beca nearly burst out laughing when she saw Jesse put his fist up in the air, acting like he was John Bender. He was a huge dork, but a great friend.
Beca finished up performing with the rest of the Bella's, feeling truly alive. This is what she had been looking for, but she was looking in the wrong place. She couldn't find friendship, love, or affection so she tried to find it through cutting. But cutting was only keeping her more alienated from what she truly wanted. She wanted to feel love, feel like she belonged. And this stupid, dorky singing club was exactly what she had needed.
Tonight
I will love love you tonight
Give me everything tonight
For all we know
We might not get tomorrow
Let's do it tonight
"Are you okay?"
Beca looked up, surprised. She hadn't even noticed that she was crying.
"I'm fine, Chloe." Beca nodded, pulling her into a hug. "I'm fine. For real this time."
Chloe squeezed back and they walked off together to wait for the announcement of who won. At the moment, Beca didn't even really care if they won. She felt happy, truly happy, and she was so glad to just be alive.
There was nothing hiding behind her smile. The joy she was showing was all real.
