"Whore."
The word was coughed out, but the intention was more than clear. AJ gave a cursory glance over to The Miz, who was now chuckling to himself and nudging Dolph in the side, like he should be in on this too. AJ pretended to have a hurt look on her face, letting it fall as her gaze dropped to Dolph, biting her lip pathetically as her eyes turned infinitely sad.
"Dude, look at her, she still wants you," Miz said. "Yo, AJ, don't you have someone to be under?"
"Nah, man," Dolph elbowed him in the arm, "E would crush her, she's gotta be on top, right, AJ?"
"Dolph," she said it like a plea, and his face softened just the slightest bit before going back into the mask that it had to be.
"Ooh, Dolph," Miz mocked AJ's tone of voice, batting his eyes and clasping his hands together like she was just a joke to him. She was pretty much a joke to everyone at this point, flitting from guy to guy like she did. Everything she did was only to cause laughter for the rest of the roster. "I love you so much! I can't get over you even though I've been sleeping around."
"Get out of here, AJ," Dolph told her, "go run along to E or have you moved on from him yet? Who are you going to check off next? I imagine you just have a list right by your bed, right? Maybe in the bedpost?"
"I can't believe you ever let yourself get in her," Miz told him, "who knows what kind of toxic stuff she has rolling around in there."
"Whatever," AJ muttered, turning away and rushing down the hallway to the peals of their laughter. Miz and Dolph continued to laugh together about AJ's abject misery.
"Man, you're so lucky you got away from that bitch," Miz told him.
Dolph made a mental note that after he and AJ got their revenge on E and Kaitlyn, he would also add a beating in the mix for Miz. Until then, he would have to pretend that what he heard right now was something he found funny when in actuality, it was the exact opposite, in fact, if he opened his palm right now, you'd find little tiny crescents from his fists clenching too hard.
Dolph nodded, "I know, right, I can't believe I ever thought she was cool."
"I can't believe you fucked her."
Dolph licked his lips a little bit, "She wasn't even a good lay."
"You'd think she would be, what with her fucking every guy in the company pretty much. I wonder if she just said fuck it and had a foursome with Punk, Daniel, and Kane. I'm sure she'd like all her holes stuffed."
Now those tiny crescents were surely about to bleed from the force of his grip. He wanted to punch something or someone right now, but couldn't because he had to keep up the façade. He took a deep, calming breath, one that helped him immensely, and he felt the tension slowly leave his body. Oh, sure, a lot of it was still there, but at least for now, he felt like he could breathe again.
"Yeah," Dolph said shortly, choking on his own words. "I've got to get back and get ready for my match later, I'll catch you after the show or something."
"Yeah, see you, man, don't get caught up with that ex."
"I won't," he said, giving a short wave before heading off in the direction of the men's locker room. Before he could get there though, he took a short detour to a deserted part of the arena. The away team for sports teams stayed in this part of the arena, but it wasn't being used tonight because it was a live event so there wasn't need for that much room. He pushed open the door, and the lights were dimmed, but he could make out a small figure lying on her back on a long bench that spanned the middle of the room.
He moved closer, and she turned her head to him, "Hey, I wasn't sure if you'd get away."
"Why? Because the Miz tends to talk a lot, most of which is hot air," Dolph said, sitting on the opposite side of the bench, straddling it as he looked down at her.
"Exactly," she laughed a little bit.
"So, the lying down thing, for my benefit? If this bench were a little wider…"
She sat up, "I'm just tired. You see, there was this guy who kept me up the whole time I was off. I barely got any sleep, and now I'm expected to go out there and defend my title."
"That guy sounds like a real jerk," Dolph shook his head, "What's his name? I'll have a word or two with him."
AJ scooted closer to him until their knees were touching. He reached out and placed his hands on her knees. She leaned forward and gave him a sweet kiss, but he wanted more. He ran his hand up her back and deepened the kiss. She sighed against his lips before returning the kiss in kind. Before they really did have sex on this bench, she pulled away, and even in the darkened room, he could see her face was flush.
"You know I didn't mean a thing I said back there, right?" Dolph needed to make it clear that what he'd said wasn't at all what he thought. He loved her, mind, body, and soul, and he wouldn't want her thinking that what he said was in any way what he meant.
"Of course, I mean, a week ago, I would have thought it was the truth, but it's not a week ago, is it?" she smiled at him, reaching up to cup his cheek. "Besides, Miz is just a jerk. I bet Maryse pulls him around on a short leash."
Now it was Dolph's turn to chuckle. "You know, I do believe you're probably right. I bet she makes him beg for it."
"Hmm, that part I don't think I'd mind so much," she teased, somehow pulling herself even closer and his had to spread his legs a little wider to accommodate her knees now pushing against his inner thighs. "Maybe she has tips."
"Tits?" he asked glancing down at her chest.
"You know what I said," she pushed him lightly in the chest. "Although she does have tits too. So did you see Kaitlyn tonight, I know she's here, but I haven't seen her, are you going to talk to her, are you going to flirt with her?"
"Well, I thought about it because I'd like to know a little bit more about her intentions because if she thinks I'm interested, I mean, usually I like a little meat on my girls, but hey, sometimes you take the stick," he told her, kissing the tip of her nose as she scowled. "What about you and E? You going to jump him or something?"
"Eww, no," AJ said, "I don't jump on guys who act like he did to me. I don't know, I think I just have to do some re-con and find out if he worked with Kaitlyn at all during this, if this was not just his plan, but theirs."
"We're like spies or something. If this wasn't about our own relationship and our lives, I would think it fun more than I think it sad that they had to do this to us. It just makes me sad that people could stoop to such levels," he frowned. She cupped his face again and ran her thumb lightly across his lips.
"We'll get them, we will, I love you."
"I love you too."
Kaitlyn looked like the cat who caught the canary. Her smile was bright, her cheeks were rosy, and her hair was flowing behind her like she was standing in front of a fan. To any other guy, it'd probably be a welcome thing, but for Dolph, it was like she was a horseman of the apocalypse. She stopped in front of him, and rested her hand on his arm like it belonged there. He subtly moved his arm so that she had to drop her hand from his arm.
"Hey! I've been looking all over for you," Kaitlyn said.
"You have?" In truth, they'd not spoken too much since Kaitlyn told him that AJ was cheating on him. She'd come by occasionally and "check up" on him, but other than that, it was relegated to a smile here and there, so this was unusual. He was the one who was going to approach her tonight, but it seemed she was taking the lead.
"Yeah, it's just, I saw E and AJ earlier, and they were…getting cozy, and I just wanted to make sure you were okay," Kaitlyn told him. "I didn't want you to have to see any of that, and I just wanted to warm you."
"Getting cozy?" Dolph asked. Up until ten minutes ago, he and AJ had been talking in their own little private space so the likelihood of this being the truth was slim to none. "What do you mean?"
"Just kind of all over each other," she said tentatively. "It doesn't really matter, I don't think, I just didn't want you to have to go through any more of that. She's nothing to you anymore, but…I know breakups hurt." There was her hand again on his arm. "I know we haven't spoken much, but I kind of wanted to give you a mourning period, but I talked to Miz, and he said you were doing great, moved on and all that."
Since when did Kaitlyn talk to the Miz? Was she trying to figure out his dating situation or something? "I'm fine."
"Good, but like, if you ever want to talk, I know I hit you with the initial bombshell, so I wouldn't want to leave you high and dry."
It was only then that Dolph remembered he was supposed to be flirting with Kaitlyn to gather information, but up until this point, he'd been trying to get her the hell away from him. He had to turn on the charm and quick. He didn't want to, God, he didn't want to, but it was better this than nothing, right? Why did he agree to such a plan? He should have just gotten back together with his girlfriend and be done with it. How long was it until SummerSlam again?
"Thanks, it's so nice to know someone as beautiful as you cares so much about little 'ol me," he said, giving her his most charming smile. He could almost see her melting. "I really appreciate everything you've done."
"It was nothing, I just didn't want you to go through any more lies or cheating or anything. You got out at just the right time, AJ wasn't right for you anyways, she was way too opposite for you."
Now this chick though she knew his type. AJ was the opposite of him in so many ways, but he loved her for her differences. He loved that they weren't the same person. "She was way different."
"You need someone who gets you, who likes the same things you do, who can see you for the great guy you really are. You deserve nothing less, Dolph, trust me, everything about you is so good," she ran her eyes over him in such a way that it made him feel like a piece of meat. She was being obvious now, and it seemed clear that she'd been waiting until she heard that he was over AJ to make her move.
"Not everything," he winked while internally gagging.
"You know, if you're free tonight—"
"Yes, yes I'd like that very much." He knew what she was going to ask, and he was up for it, oh how he was up for it. This was more perfect than he thought it would be.
Now was his chance to get some real information.
