Wow, it's been a long time since I've been on Fanfiction. In any case, I'm back with my first Pokémon poem. I've always loved the show and the games and while I have written Pokémon fics before, this is the first time I'm posting it on Fanfic. This is also the first FerrisWheelShipping work I have ever written. I'm currently playing Pokémon Black (I'm so behind with the games! T^T) and have only recently beat the Elite Four (for the first time), and that iconic moment at N's Castle is what inspired this poem. I am aware that whether the playable character follows truth or ideals differs depending on the version, but since I have Pokémon Black, the playable character is the Hero of Truth and N the Hero of Ideals, and my poem follows that, which I think fits better anyways.

The title of the poem is based off the legend that Reshiram and Zekrom were once one dragon that split into two to follow their respective Heroes. Without further ado, I present to you, Broken Halves. Enjoy, and as always, feedback is appreciated!

Disclaimer: I do not, in any way, own Pokémon.

Broken Halves

You were raised on groundless ideals

I grew up grounded by truth

But we're two sides of the same coin

You and I

Who are we without the other?

You lifted me up—

Bade me reach for the moon

And follow my dreams

I pulled you back

To keep you from losing breath

From being so high up among the clouds

Who are we without the other?

I am the light to your dark

The truth to your ideals

But I wonder—

Who is to say that the truth

Shall always set us free?

Who is to say that ideals

Cannot illuminate the dark?

Because we're born of the same breed

You and I

And I could count on you

To lift me up

Just as you could trust me

To bring you down

Because I'll be here

Should you ever fall

And if I miss reaching for the moon

I'll land among your stars

Because we're not one without the other

But you've taken to the skies

Leaving a hole in my heart

Like the hole you left in your fallen castle

Flying to a height I cannot follow

To find your truth, you said

But your truth is right here

And your search will never be complete

Because you will only ever find a mismatched half

We are the only halves

That will fit each other

You are searching for truth among the clouds

While I stay on the ground

Holding on to our fallen ideals
