Wake up, school, soccer, silence, dinner, homework, bed. Repeat.

It's only been a few weeks since Callie sat on the stairs and listened as her parents calmly decided to separate. Since then Callie has seen Stef twice. Once was on accident, as Stef was trying to move her things out, and the second was when Stef came to take the kids to dinner, but she was called back into work. Callie got as far as the door before her mom cancelled. She is still not sure what her mom did, but every night she listens from her bedroom as her mama cries. She longs to climb into bed with her, but she knows her mama doesn't want her, that's been made perfectly clear. So, she follows her schedule. Never breaking out of her routine, it keeps the pain out and the silence in.

She walks through the halls and looks down a few lockers and sees her brother staring straight into his locker. She lifts her head up a little and watches him. Brandon feels the heat of his sister's stare but refuses to budge and continues to look right into his locker. Callie turns her head and sees Lena walking with a few other staff members. She remembers a time when Lena would stop by her locker to check on her, but gone are those days. Callie sighs as she closes her locker. She turns and leans against it. She remembers a time before her accident, before the twins, before all of it. A time of peaceful bliss. A time she could count on the little things, and now..

Callie looks back over to where Brandon was standing. He is no longer there and Callie could only assume has gone to class. She looks back out towards the water and just takes a minute to stare.

Flashback:

"Look Cal." Callie looks out at the water as Stef points. From where they were sitting on the beach, Stef could make out a ship on the horizon. Callie leans back into her mother's warmth as she looks to the side to see Lena staring at them with the biggest smile on her face.

"Brandon!" Callie looks over to where Jude is squealing. She sees Brandon pouring sand over the small boy's body and Callie can't help but to giggle at how silly it looked.

End Flashback:

Callie can't believe how the smallest, insignificant memory managed to make her heart ache. She reaches her hand up and catches a tear before its able to travel farther down her face. She chokes back more tears and pushes herself off her locker and stands straight up. She drops the books in her hand and shrugs her backpack off. She starts walking slowly before she starts to jog, her hoodie being unzipped and falls from her body. Before she knows it, Callie takes off running, directly for the water. She doesn't slow when her feet begin to drag because of the sand. She doesn't stop when cold hits Callie's face. Her body willing her to swim. To fight. Swimming against the waves, her arms never getting tired. Her sadness falling away with her tears, mixing in with the sea water.

When Callie makes it back to shore, the sun was already beginning to set. She swam for what seemed like minutes before she was floating on her back next to a buoy. Callie was a lot of things, but dumb wasn't one of them. She knew how easy it would be for her to float away. She drags herself up onto the beach and sits on the sand. She brings her knees to her chest and looks at the sunset, that memory still knocking at her door, ready to be remembered, ready to be cherished. But she's not ready to remember, she's not ready for it to be nothing but a memory.

"You can get sick sitting out here like this." Callie looks up and squints her eyes at the stranger.

"It's not like my parents would ever notice." Callie says before looking back at the water.

"Ah, I doubt that." The stranger chuckles as he takes a seat a few feet away. Callie doesn't move and the man looks over at her.

"Are you ok kid?" He asks and Callie doesn't flinch before looking over at him.

"I just want this hole gone." She says and he lifts an eyebrow.

"Deep thoughts for a kid." Callie looks away.

"I know it's not worth much, but I hope you find your peace. You deserve it." The man stands up and Callie looks up at him.

"Do I know you?" Callie asks and Donald chuckles lightly.

"In a former life." He walks back up the beach and Callie turns her head to watch him, before looking back out at the water. After a while Callie stands up and makes her way backwards. Before her feet are able to hit the cement, she is swooped off her feet and she feels arms wrapped around her tightly and her mom's voice. She is set on her feet and comes face to face to Stef. Stef's hands are gripping either side of Callie's face and Lena is stroking her damp hair. Both mother's eyes are damp with tears, their faces with tear stain and worry lines. Callie watches their months move and the tears fall from their eyes. As Callie analyzes her surroundings she sees the serval cop cars with their lights flashing, her brothers standing with a uniform. As she makes eye contact with them, they break away and take off towards her. Callie looks back at her mom's and watches Lena press her face into the side of Stef's face as Stef kisses Callie's head.

Stef and Lena sit across from each other in the living room. Stef cradles a cup of coffee and Lena's arms are crossed, practically holding herself, getting ready for whatever this conversation holds. Ready for the possibility this is the end of her marriage. They stare at each other gently, both remember some of the best moments of their time together. They hear footsteps and break eye contact and look up at their daughter. Callie stand before them, freshly showered, in her warmest pajamas and an ice pack in hand.

"Come here sweets." Stef urges Callie as she stand up and sits a few inches from Lena. Callie walks over and sits between Stef and Lena. She gets settled and places her ice pack on her knee.

"So, what happens now?" Callie asks after a moment of silence. Both mothers look at each other before looking at the young girl.

"Nothing, we just want to hold you." Lena says and wraps an arm around the young girl. Callie scrunches her eyebrows together and looks up at her mom.

"What's the catch?" Callie asks and Stef chuckles.

"No catch." Stef kisses Callie's head. Callie leans into her mom and soaks in the moment.

"Mom and I think we should all go to therapy." Stef says and Callie looks at her.

"I knew it. A catch" Lena chuckles and shakes her.

"It's not a punishment my love. It's a solution. We all have problems and the only way we can fix them is through hard work and communication." Lena says and Callie takes a minute before nodding her head. She rests her head against Lena's shoulder and closes her eyes. Both mom's stay silent listening to Callie's breathing.

"Can we save this, us?" Stef says after a minute of watching her daughter sleep. Lena looks at her wife and feels the tears build in her eyes.

"You broke me Stef." Stef moves to the edge of the couch gently, careful not to wake Callie.

"I know, and I'm so sorry Lena. How can I fix it?" Stef asks and Lena shakes her head and brushes the tears away.

"Travel back in time and stop yourself from cheating." Stef sighs and looks down and Lena shakes her head. "You can't fix it Stef. I just need time." Lena says and Stef nods before standing up and leans down to kiss Callie's head. She looks at Lena and leans down to kiss her head as well. Lena closes her eyes and lets the tears roll.

"I'll go." Stef says against her forehead. Lena touches Stef's face.

"Stay. I want you to stay." Lena says and Stef sits next to Lena, collecting her into her arms. Holding both her wife and daughter, how was she supposed to fix this?
