Armored Heart Chapter 7- Prompt 25 Gazing into each other's eyes.

I'm also adding prompt 05- Kissing and prompt 12- Making out, in order to get enough content for a decent sized chapter.

Robin was in the middle of some research about the layout of Castle Valm, and the surrounding towns. The upcoming battle was too important for Robin to make any mistakes. Walhart's strongest and most loyal forces were waiting for the Shepherds to challenge him. He was so focused on his studies that he didn't notice that he had a visitor, and she had to cough to get his attention. Upon looking up Robin saw that Kjelle was waiting for him, a gentle smile gracing her face. Her eyes were sharp and attentive. Kjelle wasn't wearing her combat armor but Robin noted that she was wearing a set of leather-padded clothing. Sully had been training her in horseback riding judging by the wear and tear on the clothes.

"Hey Robin, it's good to see you. Do you have some time to spare?" Kjelle asked. "It's been too long since we sparred, and I want to make sure you aren't losing your edge."

"Is this so you can test me if I'm ready for the battle with Walhart?" Robin answered from his desk.

"That's right. I hope you're up for the challenge Robin!"

"I know you won't be holding anything back with the fire I see in your eyes." Robin answered as he stood up and began stretching his arms and legs. "I hope you're prepared though, I feel like I'm in top form today!"

"That's the spirit I want to see!" Kjelle said, grabbing a pair of weapons for them to fight with. She chose a spear with a rubber tip for herself and handed Robin a wooden sword. Then they walked outside of the edge of the camp the Shepherds had set up so they could duel without any chance of interruptions.

"So, we fight until one person yields, with or without weapons?" Robin asked as he swung the sword around experimentally, and assumed a ready stance.

"You got it, and the loser buys the winner lunch tomorrow. So show me your best Robin!" Kjelle taunted, bringing her spear in line with Robin's chest before making the first move.

She unleashed many swift and precise spear thrusts at Robin who in turn moved and danced around the tip of Kjelle's spear. Kjelle looked at Robin carefully, analyzing his movements and defense for flaws. Robin tried to close the distance between them more than once, but Kjelle back-stepped and kept Robin at bay with her spear work.

"You're focused and you're being careful with how aggressive you are. You're reading my movements well enough that I can't get close enough to strike you down. But let's see how you handle this!" Robin commented before he charged at Kjelle, boldly using his blade to knock her spear out of line and move in for a decisive strike. Without hesitation Kjelle let her spear fall to the ground and grabbed his sword arm with both of her hands. She then twisted Robin's arm to the point where he had to drop his sword. Before Robin could try to break out of her grip Kjelle threw Robin onto the ground using his arm as leverage for the throw and pinned him down.

"Nice try, but you telegraphed your intentions well before you went to knock my spear away." Kjelle confidently said with a huff, grinning at Robin.

"I suppose that my talking before trying to attack gave it away."

"It did. You've taught me too well to fall for tricks like that." Kjelle said, easing her grip on Robin.

"...I'll take that as a compliment." Robin said with a devious smile. Out of nowhere he grabbed Kjelle's arms and threw her off of him. Before Kjelle could get up, Robin jumped after her. He took advantage of her surprise by pinning her arms just as Kjelle had done before. Kjelle struggled in anger that she was caught off guard, but she kept her legs and feet still.

"Craven cur! How dare you use such underhanded methods! And how dare you use my father's own techniques against me!"

"Never let your guard down! That's the first thing I've always tried to teach you!" Robin taunted.

"Take this you bastard!" Kjelle yelled as she coiled her legs before forcefully bucking Robin off of her. Robin let go of Kjelle as he fell over. Kjelle was on Robin again within moments, holding Robin down so strongly that he couldn't move at all. This time she did not let go of her grip on Robin.

"Ok, you've got me this time. I yield." Robin puffed out, catching his breath.

"You've got much to learn still, but you're getting better at brawling."

"With you and Vaike teaching me at the same time, I've been making a lot of progress." Robin commented. "And you're improving when it comes to reading my movements. I couldn't get close until I tried something desperate."

"Between your smarts and what father and I are teaching you we'll make a real warrior of you yet. Good work."

"Thanks. Oh, there's a bit of dirt on your face." Robin said as he wiped said dirt from her cheeks. Kjelle blinked in surprise.

"It's sweet of you to do that, but I can clean myself up fine." Kjelle said. "Let me help you up."

Kjelle pulled Robin up to his feet, and he found himself staring into Kjelle's eyes. Her violet eyes shone brightly, fueled by the joy of battle and victory. He found her eyes to be so beautiful that he couldn't look away. Meanwhile Kjelle stared into Robin's eyes, and she saw kind gentle brown eyes that held a deep wisdom in them. And yet she knew that behind the kindness was a wit that was deadlier than any weapon Kjelle could wield.

They spent a minute looking into each others eyes in silence. Robin could feel his heart beating loudly as he gazed into Kjelle's eyes. An idea floated into his mind and he acted on impulse. Robin brought his lips to Kjelle's and gave her a gentle kiss. Once Robin pulled away he realized what he had just done and he looked at Kjelle in embarrassment.

"That was quite bold of you." Kjelle said in a neutral tone. "Why'd you do that?"

"Well, whenever you throw yourself into training or fighting... I find it to be quite attractive. I acted without thinking, I guess. Sorry."

"You chose to kiss me, so own the decision... You don't need to be sorry. And... I didn't mind the kiss."

"That's a relief."

"But that doesn't mean I want you to stop either." Kjelle said as she pulled Robin closer to kiss him again.

Kjelle's lips brushed across Robin's lips roughly, and he kissed her back with an eagerness that he didn't know he could feel. Time ceased to have any meaning. All that mattered to Robin was how to burn the experience into his memory so he would never forget it. He could taste her lips against his, feel the way her arms held him against her body, hear his heartbeat racing in his ears. After what had felt like hours of kissing Kjelle broke off so they could take a breather. But was but a brief moment before Robin initiated another kiss, and Kjelle pulled Robin down with her as she sat on the grass. Robin sat on her lap and continued kissing her with abandon.

Being so intimate with Kjelle gave Robin the feeling of lightning running over his body, and he didn't want it to stop. Robin didn't even notice that he was now laying on his back while Kjelle was laying on top of him in a compromising position. Robin's hands ran along Kjelle's back while they continued to kiss. Kjelle's lips tasted better than anything he could imagine.

Kjelle's kisses trailed down to Robin's neck, and he moaned in delight. Kjelle laughed against his neck and she reluctantly stopped what she was doing. She looked into Robin's eyes and smiled.

"I think that we're getting a bit carried away now." Kjelle said.

"Yeah... I think that we are." Robin said, laughing at the situation.

"We're lucky that no one's seen us."

"If anyone caught us doing this, the gossips would have a field day. Especially Severa."

"She'd yell at me everyday for a month for being such a boor and tell me that it's beneath me as a woman to act in such bad taste."

"That sounds like her, but I have a plan to would let us avoid that."

"What's your idea?"

"You should report to my tent tonight, to help me work out any flaws in my plans for the upcoming battle. It would be quite professional and I'm sure that we'd make a lot of progress about how we attack Castle Valm. But once that is all done, we'd have all the time in the world to... discuss important personal matters."

"Heh, I think I can do that." Kjelle answered, giving Robin one brief kiss before they stood up and walked their way back to camp.

Kjelle waved Robin goodbye before approaching Lucina so they could talk war philosophy and spar for the rest of the day. Robin continued his studies of Castle Valm. Sometimes Frederick would bring him reports about the areas surrounding Valm Castle. Chrom turned up once and ensured that Robin wasn't working too hard and brought him some food. As difficult as it was, Robin forced himself to stay focused on the job at hand. Too many people were counting on him to develop a plan that would bring them victory. He couldn't let his thoughts about Kjelle distract him from his work. Slowly the day crawled on to an end, and once the sun had set Kjelle entered his tent and asked if he wanted some help with his work. Robin mentioned that he would be grateful if Kjelle could give him her honest opinion about the strategies he had formulated. He also asked if she could help play the role of the enemy for his simulations. But he also suggested with a smirk that she place a sign outside of the tent so they would be able to complete their work uninterrupted.

Kjelle hung the sign outside of his tent which said: "Do not disturb, critical tactical study in progress."

Well I certainly enjoyed writing up that Chapter. It took long enough for them to have their first kiss I suppose. Next chapter prompt is Prompt 10- With Animal Ears. I'll also throw in 11 - Wearing kigurumis and 13- Eating ice-cream. This next chapter could get a bit on the silly side heh.
