Friendship Chapter 7: Yggdrasill

Later, the same night.

"Genis, I don't want to use your bed anymore." Mithos told me.

"It's okay, you can use it. There's no problem."

"But-"

"I don't want you to sleep on a chair, Mithos."

"But I don't want you to sleep on a chair either." He responded.

"This is not going anywhere… Just use it okay? No buts." Mithos stayed quiet and nodded.

The next morning I woke up and the bed was empty. Actually, I was under the covers of it. "Where's Mithos?" I questioned to myself.

I yawn, and began stretching. It's been three days since I haven't slept on a bed.

I suddenly felt something near my pillow "…a note?" I grabbed it and began reading it.

Genis:

I woke up earlier so I just wanted to go outside and take a little stroll. I think I would be back on a couple of hours.

Hope you had nice dreams.

-Mithos-

A stroll, huh? Why didn't he wake me up? We could have go together. Oh well.

But if he put me on my bed… How come I didn't wake up? Wow I must have been really tired.

I looked at the clock. Around 9:00 AM

I think I'll sleep a little bit more. Luckily Mithos would wake me up when he's back.

Mithos' PoV

What time is it? I searched for a clock and watch the time.

7:48 AM? Little bit earlier, huh?

I looked at my side and there was Genis, sleeping on a chair beside me. Why did he want me to sleep in HIS bed? And how can he sleep on a chair instead? Isn't that a little… uncomfortable?

I slowly got up from the bed, trying to make less noise as possible, I put my shoes on and walked to the hall not before making sure no one was there to see me. But… And Genis?

I returned to the room and saw him there, sleeping on a chair. At least if I'm not using his bed he should use it, right?

I gently tried to grab him as I finally manage to carry him on my arms. He was surprisingly light.

I put him on his bed and placed him under the covers of it.

I panicked when he began moving a little and mumbled something as his eyes were daring to open. "Huh?... Mithos?" he calmly said with a sleepy voice.

"Shhhh, you can sleep a little bit more, okay?" I whispered on his ear and gently caressed his hair. It worked, Genis fell asleep again.

I can't just leave him like that, at least I should write a note, right?

I searched all over the room for paper and a pencil and luckily found some.

Okay let's start: Dear Genis… Wait no, I shouldn't write that, I still don't have that level of confidence.

Just Genis, okay that should do it.

I woke up earlier... So I just wanted to go outside and take a little stroll. I think I would be back on a couple of hours. That should be enough, right?

Hope you had nice dreams. I wrote referring to me putting him on his bed. And finally signed it.

-Mithos-

I left it near his pillow and walked to the hall, not before mumbling something to him, "…sleep well, Genis."

I walked on the cold streets of Flanoir. All my myself, searching for someone for what it seemed like hours.

When suddenly, someone on an alley made some gestures to me, telling me to come near. The person I was looking for.

"Wanna buy a flower, young man?" A happy looking woman stopped me and walked in front of me. I just pushed her and pass by her. I could imagine the sad look on her face as I did that.

I finally reached to the alley. "Lord Yggdra-"

"Give me your report," I coldly told her with a frightening look. At least she seemed frightened by that. "Pronyma."

She kneeled to me and told me, "Everything's good on your absence, my lord. I can assure you, you do not have to worry."

"Good."

"If I can ask you something. How long would you be with Lloyd's group? How long would it take to convince the two half-elves to-"

"It'll take what it has to take." I firmly said.

"But-!"

"You're dismissed. I'll get back to Geni- to Lloyd's group." I shut her up.

She got up, made a vow and go away without saying anything more.

I sighed. Was I going to say 'Genis' group'? What's wrong with me?

I need to get back to the inn before the others wake up and began making questions.

I closed the door of the inn trying to not make too much noise. It doesn't look like anyone is up yet. That's good.

I caught a sight of the clock on the wall. 9:20 AM. I think it took me longer than I planned. Is Genis up?

I head to the door of his… More like our room and peeked inside. He was still sleeping but I saw that my note was on his drawer. Maybe he already woke up.

I silently tried to enter but the door made a creaking noise. I mentally slapped myself and begged he didn't wake up with that. Failed.

"…huh? Mithos? You're back?" So he did read it. I nodded and smiled.

He looked at the clock and said, "Just a stroll, huh?"

"Yeah… I sort of… got lost on my thoughts, that's why it took me so long." I congratulated myself for such excuse.

"Why didn't you wake me up? We could have go together." He sadly said. That look on his face made me soft for some reason.

"I just… didn't want to wake you up."

"And you put me on my bed?" I nodded.

"Then how in the heavens I didn't wake up?" he laughed. I did too, then approached to his bed and crouched a little.

"Sleepyhead." I poked his forehead playfully. What made him laugh again.

I don't know why moments like these make me feel so good inside.

Finally a longer one :D I'm so proud of myself.

Hope you all had a happy halloween!
