So my life started out being born in a small, but very overprotective family. My mother controlled basically everything that happened in my life; I was on a leash led by my mother down the same path for 18 years. My father was barely home because he worked all the time, so hardly any guidance was done by him.

I met my ex-fiance in college. Only after a year of graduating from college with him, he broke up with me to be with my ex-coworker. My apartment caught on fire because I left the stove on after the shock. I lost everything. I arrived at my workplace, very late, and was, of course, fired. I had given up. So, I stumbled across town to a bar and forced a man, who just so happens to be the leader of the Shikon no Tama Biker Gang, to take me across the countryside with him.

I thought I was running, but he was running too. Come to find out, we both had been running from our problems. How small of a world! Overbearing parents aren't so uncommon, I guess. He was trying to get out of a marriage and I just wanted out of this world; I wanted to be free, just as he did. And after many trials, over the course of a few days, we grew closer and he finally got what he wanted and so did I.

To finish up this article, I just want to say this:

No matter the problems going on in your life, things get better.
'But oh Kagome! That's so cliché!'
Psh. Life sucks. You just have to find the right people to spend it with.

Kagome Higurashi,
Senior Editor-In-Chief
Tetsaiga Magazine

"Ah! It's finally finished!" Kagome saved the file to her computer and clicked the 'Print' button. After a minute of printing her article, she grabbed the warm paper and pushed her comfy rolling chair back away from her desk.

"Oh -Man!" She sang all the way down the hallway. She didn't even knock on the door that was situated at the end of the hall. She promptly turned the knob, all smiles.

"Here's my- Oh really? You could have waited until we took a lunch break!" Kagome made a disgusted face at the man and woman across the room. The woman quickly scrambled off the man's lap and onto the office floor.

Sesshomaru adjusted his tie and smoothed out some of his hair before dismissing his young wife Rin, who also just so happened to be Kagome's co worker, with a kiss and promise for later. Rin slightly smiled at Kagome as she made her way out of the room.

"You could have knocked, Higurashi." His monotonous voice icily told her. He folded his hands on his huge desk in front of him and glared at her.

Kagome just shrugged and walked across the room with her file in hand.

"I just finished. I do hope you enjoy it. I included your part in it." She winked at him.

"Whatever. I'll thoroughly read through it and get back with you about it later." He pushed the file aside and started typing away at his laptop. Kagome figured this was his signal for her to leave him alone.

As she turned to exit the office, Sesshomaru spoke up.

"Oh, my half-witted brother wants to know if you'll be coming over for dinner tonight." He said, still professionally typing away on the computer.

Kagome was confused. Why go through Sesshomaru? They both practically hated each other.

"Why didn't he call me? He's so weird."

Sesshomaru looked up from his laptop and looked at her as if she just asked why the sky is blue,"Welcome to the family." He looked back down and clicked on something.

"Tell me about it. If he calls again, just tell him yeah. I will come over after I finish up here." Without even waiting for a response, she opened the office door and left her boss to himself.

The rest of the day went as normal as possible. She checked over articles for mistakes and edited pages. She yelled at a few people who refused to listen to her and praised those who did. This was the life she had always dreamed of.

After the events with the Taishou and Hitomi Family almost a year ago, Kagome was satisfied. She had moved with InuYasha back to L.A. and asked Sesshomaru for her job back, with a few threats from InuYasha of course. Sesshomaru admitted that he regretted firing her because everything became chaotic with the woman who replaced her. So, he moved Kagome up to Senior Editor-In-Chief and that's where she's been. Only a few months ago did she ask Sesshomaru if she could write a two page spread on her experiences. He reluctantly agreed, but soon realized that he could gain a better female audience with the magazine.

Now it was 6, the time Kagome waved everyone goodbye and locked up. She turned off her computer, organized a few files, and locked her office. As always, everyone had long gone home and it was pitch dark. She made her way to the elevator and pressed the button that took her to the lobby.

Memories in this elevator still allude me. She sighed happily.

When the elevator gave its ding and opened the doors to the lobby, she exited the metal box and smiled at the man at the front desk before walking out the building's main door to the parking lot.

She carefully looked around, like she always did, and quickly strided across the parking lot to her car, the Lexus that InuYasha just insisted on buying for her so she didn't have to take the trolley.

A few minutes passed before the car came to life and she left the almost empty parking lot to head towards Sesshomaru's house.

When she arrived, the guard waved her in through the open gates and she parked on the driveway beside InuYasha's motorcycle. InuYasha had asked Kouga if his cousin could drive his bike back to L.A., his dark-red Harley that they had shared memories on. She sighed at the moment of happiness, completely oblivious to all the parked cars around her, and left her car to walk up the pathway to the door.

She rang the doorbell, laughing on the inside, because she knew that the buzzing sound annoyed the demons of the household. When no one answered the door, she turned the handle, only to find that it had been unlocked the whole time.

They did it on purpose. She rolled her eyes and pushed the door open.

As the door flung open, everyone she knew and loved jumped in front of her and yelled, "Surprise!"

"Wha-What?" She was completely and utterly confused. Why was she being surprised? What the hell did the Taishou Family have going on?

InuYasha made his way through the crowd of people and gracefully embraced her in a hug.

"Are you surprised?" He asked after he brushed her lips with a kiss.

Still confused she answered,"Yes, but why should I be...?"

InuYasha quickly released his grasp and stared hard at her. Now he was confused.

"Did you forget that today is your birthday?"

"Huh? Is today really July 2?" Kagome counted the past few days in her head and came to the conclusion that it was, in fact, her birthday today,"so it is...I feel stupid." She giggled.

InuYasha just shook his head with a smirk on his face," You should. How could you forget your own birthday? Come on! Let's go get this party started!"

Everyone agreed and made their way toward the formal dining room. InuYasha led her, hand in hand, to the greatly decorated room. Green and white streamers were hung above them and tied at the chandelier that beautifully hung in the middle of the room; matching balloons were scattered everywhere, some even floated to the high ceiling; a banner, obviously painted by InuYasha because the handwriting wasn't that of a professional, was attached to the back wall behind the table and chairs; one of the chairs had a huge sign attached, also done by InuYasha, that read 'Her Royal Highness, Kagome Higurashi'; bounds and bounds of food adorned the elegant, green tablecloth. The room was, in two words, absolutely stunning.

"Wow..." Kagome couldn't move.

InuYasha bent down to her ear, which made her come to, and whispered,"Let me bring you to your chair, Your Highness."

Kagome, now red in the face, nodded and followed him to the almost gaudy chair that sat at the head of the table. He pulled her chair back for her to sit, and pushed it in when she got comfortable. He sat down to her right, which was right beside his brother. Sango sat to her left, Miroku on the other side, and Kouga sat next to Ayame and Shippou down the table. Inuno and Izayoi sat, in order, beside Rin, whom was sitting beside Sesshomaru. Her family took both sides of the table. A few of her favourite co-workers and friends of the Taishou's also sat towards the end of the long table.

"Any words, Your Highness?" InuYasha asked her.

Kagome slightly chuckled at the treatment she was receiving. This was her first birthday at the Taishou house and they did like to literally make an entrance. She waited until her nerves settled before she spoke.

"I want to give my thanks to everyone that helped with all this. We've been through one heck of ride, haven't we? I think we all deserve to be treated like royalty. Well, I don't want this food to get cold, because that ham looks absolutely delicious! Let us eat food!" She clapped her hands together and rubbed them. She was starving and honestly wanted to dive onto the table to chow down.

After everyone passed everything around, making sure each person got what they wanted, they began to tear and chew away.

The rest of her birthday when smoothly. Everyone joked around about their day, the men competed on who had the hardest job; InuYasha won because he said he had to put up with both Sesshomaru and Kagome. The aforementioned people both smacked him across the back of the head, causing the room to fill with laughter.

Inuno and Izayoi talked about their flight that had landed only an hour before Kagome arrived; it was 'exhausting' they had told everyone and would never fly commercial again. Miroku and Sango were already in town; they moved to San Francisco a couple of months after Kagome and InuYasha moved to L.A. Kouga and Ayame made a small road trip out of the whole thing, they planned on riding up to Washington tomorrow. Her parents were trying to sort things out; her father went back home and since then, they decided that they had been married too long to just end it now. Shippou is dating a model around his age near Las Vegas, where he now lives. Everyone seemed to have found their own place.

"Cake!" InuYasha yelled, rubbing his full belly.

Kagome laughed,"I think we need to hold off on the cake for now. How about presents?"

"Mine first!" Sango reached under her chair and pulled out a small, purple bag.

Kagome reached for it and pulled out the pink tissue paper that soon revealed what she had been asking for for ages.

"Yes! So you haven't been ignoring me when I complained about my small camera having little to no memory!" She reached over and hugged her best friend.

"Yeah. Miroku and I couldn't decide which kind, but then I remembered that green is your favourite colour." Miroku smiled at her and wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

"Happy Birthday Kagome." He told her.

"Thanks." She said back.

"Our turn!" Ayame poked Kouga, making him get up and leave the room to come back with a beautifully wrapped box that any number of items could fit in. Kouga walked over to Kagome, told her 'Happy Birthday' from the both of them and turned to sit back down.

Not wanting to rip the paper, she carefully unwrapped the box and squealed at the sight of the picture on the box.

"A new mixer! You guys! How did you know my old one broke?" She asked, still excited over the sight of her new kitchen toy.

"That mutt over there kept complaining to Miroku and I that he missed your baked sweets." Kouga huffed.

"No I didn't!" InuYasha shot across the table.

"Umm, you did." Miroku chimed in.

"Keh." Defeated, he slid back down in his chair.

Kagome opened presents after presents. She accumulated a stockpile of boxes, paper, and tissue on one side of her, and gifts on the other side. Her family bought her the new season of her favourite television drama, along with a few other items. Shippou bought her a necklace that spelled 'Kagome'; her told her that his girlfriend helped pick it out. Her co-workers pitched in together and bought a beautiful painting of a sakura tree, which she decided to hang in her office. Sesshomaru, Izayoi, and Inuno brought in a big box filled with new office supplies, including a new computer which she greatly appreciated.

Then it was InuYasha's turn. He excused himself and went upstairs to bring down his gift. It took him a few minutes, but he came down the stairs carrying a medium-sized box. He walked over to Kagome and placed the box in front of her.

Kagome untied the springy ribbon from around the box and carefully unwrapped the paper from around the box. The box was plain white, nothing written on it at all. She untaped the box, took the lid off, and unfolded the tissue.

Kagome wanted to cry at the beautiful sight of what lay inside the box.

"I thought you would enjoy a more personal present. I also enlisted the help of everyone here. I hope you like it." He kissed her on the cheek.

She took the scrapbook out of the box and placed the book on the table, shoving the white box aside. Everyone stood up from their chairs and gathered her and InuYasha, trying to take a peek of the present.

On the front cover was a picture, in the center, that she remembered Sesshomaru took of them kissing in front of their new house. Around the picture were the words 'To My Beautiful' written in InuYasha's handwriting. She flipped it open and gasped at the next page. A picture of her painting the bedroom was crookedly glued on; she had no idea he had taken that. The picture underneath that was another of her, smiling wide about her finding out that there was pool in the backyard.

The rest of the scrapbook went the same way. For the most part, the pictures were a complete surprise; she now knew to be a little bit more wary of her surroundings, just in case InuYasha wanted to get picture happy with her new camera. She flipped to the very last page and became confused.

"What is this?" She pointed to two pictures that was glued side by side in the center of the page. One was a picture of her left hand, probably taken while she was asleep, and the other was a picture of what looked like the question mark from the sign of the café that's down the road from their house.

InuYasha reached into his pants pocket and spoke,"This is what that is."

She turned around and saw an opened tiny box in his large palm; inside was a diamond ring that was carefully placed on white satin.

"Oh InuYasha..." Tears were brimming in her eyes.

"I would love Her Royal Highness Kagome Higurashi to become Her Royal Highness Kagome Taishou." His smile was wider than the state of Texas.

Kagome stood up from her chair and curtsied in the air," I would be glad to."

InuYasha immediately embraced her in happiness, almost knocking the box into the floor. He pulled back, took the ring out of the box, and placed it on Kagome's left ring finger. She then pulled him into a passionate kiss.

"Congratulations!" Everyone was yelling at the same time. Hugs went around, as well as kisses. Sango and Ayame wanted to cry, as well as Kagome's parents. Izayoi wiped a few tears from her eyes, as well as several of Kagome's co-workers. It most definitely was going to be a very memorable birthday for her.

The guests began to leave a few at a time throughout the next few hours. Kagome thanked each one and said she'd see them later. Sesshomaru was dreading to see the aftermath of the whole party.

He didn't want to have it at his house for this exact reason. Never again. Sesshomaru thought to himself. He sighed and turned his attention back to the dwindling party.

"Again, thank you for coming!" Kagome told Sango and Miroku; they were the last to leave.

"Don't mention it! And congrats! We need to start planning your wedding shower!" Sango yelled behind her.

"Of course!" Kagome waved bye once more and shut the door behind her.

"What a day!" She yelled coming into the living room.

"You're telling me." Sesshomaru mumbled. He popped some aspirin in his mouth that his wife gladly got for him for his splitting headache. He got up off the couch and grabbed his wife by the hand.

"Don't mess up my sofa." He hatefully hinted at InuYasha. He led his wife upstairs and in a few seconds, they were out of sight.

"Come here." InuYasha gestured towards her. Kagome skipped a little across the living area and plopped down beside her fiancé.

Fiance. I don't no whether to be happy or sad.

InuYasha noticed her sudden mood change. He held her closer, breathing in her beautiful scent while rubbing her arm.

"What's wrong?" He asked her.

Reluctantly, she spilled,"Just...if we should be engaged this soon. It was only a few months with Hojo and-"

InuYasha stopped her,"I'm not Hojo. You know me. We went through shit together. We know each other better than anyone else. We're similar."

"You're right." She sighed in defeat and looked at her sparkling engagement ring.

Maybe I am over thinking things.

As if he heard her thoughts, he responded," You are over thinking it. Remember what you told me before? You're my ride or die?"

She sat up a little and stared at him,"I did tell you that, and I meant it. Whatever happens, I'm with you."

"And I'm with you. We'll ride through this together, no matter what." He pulled her back onto his chest in a tight in embrace.

"Yeah, we'll just ride." She smiled up at him. He cupped her face and pressed his lips onto hers, eventually gaining entrance and soon in a tongue-of-war.

Whatever was going to be thrown in their future life together, they know they'd get through it. As long as their love for each other was strong enough, they could just ride through anything.

A/N: IMPORTANT INFO! Since hardly anyone reads the top, I figured I'd put this at the bottom.
First off, I want to thank my readers for sticking with me through this story! You guys are amazing! Without your support, I wouldn't be writing and enjoying it. :)
This story was so fun to write and I enjoyed every letter of it! Sadly, though, it is finally done and is to be shelved in my library.

Here's the bad news: I am moving into college tomorrow! Yay...! I wanted to complete this story before I went back, so I did. On the flipside, I will be on hiatus again probably until the new year or so, just so I can get adjusted and yada yada.
BUT, It will only be partial hiatus. I'll type up a few drabbles here and there because I will most likely have hardly any time to write up and complete another story.

Again, I want to thank my supporters and those willing to wait until I make another big comeback!
Please have a safe rest of the year for those in school or who have yet to start again or who never have to hear that dreadful word again!
I will officially see you guys, in the earliest, around New Years.

Hugs and kisses all around!
