It took Steve some time to get used to life in modern day New York. There had been a lot of fighting and yelling, but slowly and gradually, he had come to terms with it. Once S.H.I.E.L.D had allowed him to roam free, his first order of business was to find Peggy.
After hours of phone calls and internet searches, done by his new found friend Tony Stark, (Steve wasn't that used to new technology yet) he eventually found the home where Peggy was situated.
He had been told, that as Peggy is an old woman, she may not remember him. Steve couldn't risk wearing his Capitan America suit, that would attract too much attention. He had brought red roses, her favourite flower, and was wearing the same military outfit as when they had first met.
Steve's heart was pounding as he entered the nursing home. He approached the desk.
"He-llo handsome" a voice said coyly.
Steve looked at the receptionist, and blinked.
"I'm..uh..I'm here to see Peggy. Peggy Carter."
He gulped. His voice was threatening to crack in any moment.
"Down the hall to your left, second door on your right." She said, flicking her blonde hair.
"Uh, thanks." However before Steve could leave the earshot of the receptionist, he heard her say
"If you're not doing anything later, maybe you and your sweet ass could grab a cup of coffee with me?"
Steve froze on the spot, looked round at the blonde who had her pen between her glossed lips and said
"Sorry ma'am. I'm late for another date already"
Steve took a moment outside of the door to compose himself, took a deep breath, and entered. His heart pounded as he searched the room for her.
He spotted her. Her hair was still as dark as the day he had laid eyes on her. He could still see the beauty and passion in her chocolate eyes. Her full lips were still an exuberating shade of red. She turned around. Steve gulped. His palms started sweating. He had never been so nervous in his life. Peggy started walking over to him, with a posture of a twenty year old, which she was on the inside.
They stood, eye to eye, until, finally, Peggy said "You're late."
She put her hands on either side of Steve's face, and they kissed.
