The sun had sunk low, casting long shadows across the train station. Nagisa let a seventh train go by. The April air had just started to warm up with the promise of summer—he could smell the chlorine already.

Already familiar footsteps snapped him out of his reverie, and he bounced to his feet.

"Rei-chan!"

For a moment, it looked as though Rei might be considering jogging all the way home, but then he shook his head and pushed up his glasses, caving.

"The more tenacious hunters survived to live another day," he muttered. "There's no stopping evolution, is there?"

"You looked amazing at practice," Nagisa said, running up to him. He put on his brightest, most winning smile. "Gou-chan couldn't stop staring at your deltoids."

"My…deltoids?"

"I think that they look really good, too!" Nagisa leaned in close to whisper in Rei's ear. "Hey, Rei-chan—I'll give you a kiss if you join the swim club."

"Wh-what?" Rei stumbled backwards. "Why would I want something like that?"

"Uh, who wouldn't want a kiss?" Nagisa tilted his head to one side, tapping on his chin to maximize the innocence in his expression. "Kisses are great!"

"Not so loud," Rei snapped. The blood rushed to his cheeks, leaving him pink; he couldn't make eye contact with Nagisa. "Aren't you just offering me a kiss because you want one?"

"Just because I want a kiss doesn't mean I can't barter with it! You want a kiss, too, right, Rei-chan?"

"I'm not joining the swim club!"

"I bet a kiss would change your mind~" Nagisa arched an eyebrow at Rei, who ducked his head.

"As if something like that could change my mind."

"I dunno, Rei-chan. Kisses are kind of a beautiful thing to do with your body." He batted his eyelashes. "Seems like your kind of thing to me."

The announcer's voice crackled across the station, announcing the approach of the next train. Both of them jumped at the sudden noise, but Nagisa's jump conveniently knocked him into Rei. He looked up at Rei—too tall to just accidentally-on-purpose kiss, even with a jump to boost him. He stood on tiptoes and half-closed his eyes as he tilted his head up to meet Rei.

"Calculate the trajectory of— L-let the vector x represent—" Rei stammered under his breath.

"Just kiss me already, genius."

Rei always had perfect form; he wrapped one arm around Nagisa's waist and pulled him upward—and their noses smacked into one another.

"S-see?" Rei's face had gone redder than a drunkard's; he pulled away. "What's so beautiful about—"

The train's brakes squealed beside them as Nagisa reached up and yanked Rei's face down to meet his. Their lips met—Rei's soft and surprised and yielding. It took effort for Nagisa to release him long enough to peck him on the nose and wink at him.

"It's beautiful because you're beautiful."
