While I was walking home I felt depressed. It was really cold without a jacket and the event from earlier left me drained. I don't know what to feel anymore.
Corey is the person I love with all my heart. Even if he fell for another girl he would always be the one in my eyes, but it's painful to like him while he's infatuated with another. I see Michi doing things I wish I can do with him. It hurts so much but I can't leave him. Then there's Michi, a person I haven't known for very long. The one time I saw her smile, it felt like the sun, but the fact she's dating Corey is stopping me from really knowing her. Even Drey is causing me to question everything. How can he be so nerdy yet one of the coolest people I know.
This was getting way too confusing for me. Once I came home I forced myself to finish homework and fell asleep. If this drama continues any longer I'm going to die.
I woke up at four in the morning with my clothes from yesterday still on. I couldn't go back to sleep so I just took a shower and changed into fresher clothes. I sat my desk for a while. Just when I was about to move my cell-phone rang. The dialer was an unknown person.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hi Laney! It's Michi, I need to talk to you during lunch. It's about Corey." I perked up at Michi's name. Then I remembered, I needed to talk to Drey during lunch.
"Uh Michi, lunch is a bad time for me. Do you think you can tell me after school?" I asked. It was weird to talk to my love rival like this.
"I guess it's alright if lunch is a really bad time for you. Just don't let Corey know you're meeting me ok?" she said uneasily. She hung up.
Without anything else to do I put on a jacket, took my backpack, and walked outside. I went to the nearest bakery and got something to eat and carton of milk because there's nothing at home. While I was eating I walked to school slowly. The morning was quiet, very peaceful, which made a good time for me to think. The world should be like this every day.
I was walking down Corey's street when I saw him leaving his house. It was pretty early, like five in the morning.
"Hey Core, what are you doing so early?" I yelled. He jumped a little and saw me.
"Oh hey Lanes, I should be asking the same thing!" he said back with a smile. He was wearing a pair of black jeans and gray jacket.
"I just woke up a bit early and decided to go for some breakfast." I said while sipping my milk.
"I'm kind of hungry too, guess I should try to get something at school." He joined me on the path to school. It's been ages since I've walked with him. Once we got to the entrance he split off in search of the cafeteria.
"He looked like he couldn't wait to leave me…" I said to myself. A familiar voice laughed behind me.
"I never thought the great Laney Penn would talk to herself." Drey said with humor. I turned around to see him. His reddish purplish hair color contrasted a lot against the morning sky. A strikingly cool face replaced the usual dorkiness from him
"W-What are you doing here?!" I asked, startled.
"I go to this school, duh." he answered. What a smartass. "I have to talk to you about yesterday." He told me. Before I knew it I was dragged into an empty classroom.
Drey opened his backpack and handed me the leather notebook I forgot. "You should keep an eye on your stuff you know. If it had confidential things the wrong person might use it." I grabbed it and stuffed it into my backpack.
"Thanks Drey, you didn't read it right?" I asked questioningly. He smiled. "Of course not. That's really low." he answered. Did he just sparkle for a second?! I'm serious, I think he's sparkling.
Before he left I asked, "What were you doing after school yesterday? It was pretty late." He took a minute to consider. "The door of Narnia opened before me." I laughed.
"Narnia?! You're joking aren't you!" I said between giggles. He just smiled and left. I giggled for a few more minutes and left myself.
When I turned a corner I saw Michi standing next to my classroom door. She glowed in the morning light.
"Oh Laney, I was waiting for you!" she said once she noticed me. Before I knew it I was dragged into another empty classroom.
"I'm sorry but I can't wait til lunch, I need to talk to you now. It's about Drey. " she told me.
