Dean opened his eyes and stared at his bedroom ceiling. He felt happy, and fully rested. His room was quiet and he felt absently for the other person in his bed. Cas wasn't there. Huh. Cas hadn't gotten up before him in a while. He listened closely, there was no sound in his house, none. That was odd; there were a lot of people staying with him and Cas because of the anniversary party last night. He heard the coffee pot running though. So Sam and Cas were probably up, they were the only ones other than himself that ever got up this early anyways.
He stood from the bed and headed down the stairs and into the kitchen. One other person was up, it was his nephew Joey drinking some coffee and reading the news paper.
"Hey Joey, why are you up so early?" Dean said sitting across from him.
"Dean? I'm always up this early… and who the hell is Joey?" the supposed Joey asked and lowered the news paper to look at Dean.
"Sammy?" Dean asked slowly. This wasn't right. Sammy was….Sammy was young.
"Yeah Dean, who else would it be? Dean who's Joey?" Sam asked again.
"Sam, Joey is your son. What the fuck to you mean who's Joey." Dean said scrunching his eyebrows together.
"Dean—are you alright? I don't have a son, you know that…" Sam said skeptically.
"Sammy I'm fine! And yes you do! You have a son! His name is Joey, he looks just like you. And you have a daughter named Mary. You're married to Jess. I have a daughter, your niece. Her name is Charlotte but you and I call her Chuck, and everyone else calls her Charlie. I'm married to Cas." Dean said trying to explain.
"Dean what are you talking about? Dean, you just met Cas three days ago, remember you yelled at me because you like him? I'm not married to Jess, we've only been together for two years. You don't have a daughter and I don't have a son." Sam said calmly.
"No! no, that's not true!. We have a huge family. Charlie's best friend Charlotte Bradbury moved in with us and has lived with us for most of her life. Cas' brothers Lucifer and Gabe come over all the time! Balthazar died a few years ago. Lucifer and Jo have been together for as long as Cas and I have. LAST NIGHT WAS OUR 27TH MARRIAGE ANNIVERSARY. Don't you remember?" Dean asked his voice cracking.
Sam had gotten up and took Dean's face in his hands. Dean was starting to hyperventilate. What was happening to him?
Sam shook his head no.
"I don't—what? Charlie?" Dean said sadly looking at Sam. Sam shook his head no again. "But Sammy?" Dean asked.
"Dean sit down okay?" Sam said leading Dean to the couch in their living room.
"Sammy I swear to god I'm not crazy…" Dean said looking sad.
"I know you're not Dean. I think that you've just had a really intense dream. Yesterday morning you hit you're head again. Remember when Jo scared you and you cut your head open? Well you whacked it again while you and I were fooling around. You've been unconscious for an entire day." Sam told him.
"Wait what? We were fooling around?" Dean asked.
"You don't remember?" Sam asked. "We had burgers the other night for dinner, I told Cas about your broken promise blow job rule and then we started wrestling and you fell and hit your head on the coffee table right where that gash is." Sam told him.
"No Sammy I don't. So I just dreamed the next thirty years of my life? It felt so real." Dean whispered. "I didn't even ask Cas on a date yet?"
"Nope, Cas definitely would've told me about that. Dean you're gonna be late for work, you gotta go get ready. Will you be alright or do you need to take the day off?" Sam asked.
"No I think I'll be okay." Dean said and then looked back at Sam before he went to get dressed.
"We adopted a little girl." Dean whispered, "In my dream I mean. She was perfect Sammy, absolutely perfect. She could fix cars, and she had beautiful blonde hair, and one green eye and one blue eye. She was perfect."
"I'm sure she was Dean. Maybe you should change your mind and take a chance with Cas then?" Sam asked.
"Wait I said that I wouldn't?" he asked.
"I guess you don't remember that either huh? You told me that you were afraid of relationships ever since Gordon, I tried to convince you otherwise but you were dead set on being alone." Sam told him.
"Then yeah Sammy, I've definitely changed my mind." He said smiling at his brother and went to get ready for work.
At work Dean couldn't concentrate at all. All he could think about was the life he'd completely imagined. He wished it was all there again. There weren't any cars in the shop to work on and doing all this paper work was helping Dean any. Bobby came into his office and cleared his throat.
"Yeah Bobby?" Dean asked distractedly.
"What's the matter with you boy?" Bobby asked.
"Nothing important." Dean said to the old drunk and looked back the papers in his hands.
"Dean, son, if it's distracting you from those papers that are as easy as pie to complete, then it's important. What's on your mind?" Bobby asked.
"I don't think you would understand if I told you." Dean told him.
"Try me."
Dean sighed, "Bobby, apparently I was unconscious for an entire day yesterday, and while I wasn't awake I had the most realistic dream that I've ever had. I dreamed the next 30 years of my life Bobby, 30 years. I started dating Cas, went into a coma for three weeks, continued dating Cas, married Cas, Sam married Jess, me and Cas adopted a little girl and named her Charlotte, Sam and Jess had a boy named Joey, and then later on they had a little girl named Mary Robin, they gave her middle name to you. You retired, and I grew a beard." Dean said exasperatedly.
"I retired?" Bobby asked and Dean glared at him, "Alright. Listen kid, what I think happened to you is what happened to me when you were in high school, right after your father ditched. You had a dream about what would happen if you made the right decision. I'm guessing you weren't planning on asking Cas out originally huh?" Bobby asked.
"Yeah, definitely changed my mind about doing that." Dean said chuckling, "What was the bad decision you were going to make?"
It was Bobby's turn to sigh. "When your Daddy left I almost said no to you when you asked if you could live with me. That night I drank a lot. I passed out and I had a dream. Mine wasn't like yours, it didn't show me all the good things I would miss out on, although that probably would've worked too, it showed me all of the bad things that would have happened if I didn't." Bobby explained.
"I basically saw you and Sam's lives go down the drain. You're ma was as negligent as ever, and you got into drugs and left Sam alone more than you would ever think of now. I saw you kill yourself in my dream Dean, and knowing that I could do something to change it? I knew I had to let you in." Bobby said seriously.
"Oh." Was all Dean could say.
"Boy, I can finish those papers, go home, work on your ride and then go inside and tell that boy you want to go on a date with him ya here?" Bobby said sternly.
"Yes sir." Dean said standing, pretended to salute Bobby and went home.
When Dean got home is was only 9:30 in the morning. Sammy had gone back to bed and Cas was still sleeping so Dean did what he had done in his dream and went and worked on his car until 11. While he worked on Baby his mind had calmed down and he focused solely on his car. It focused on fixing things, making things better, every thought about his dream, his life that never happened, just disappeared and was replaced by his car. Just his car.
He walked into the kitchen at 11, Sam and Cas were eating breakfast and Cas was reading a book.
"Mornin' guys." Dean said smiling at the two of them and peeling off his sweating t-shirt and tossing it down the laundry shoot.
"Morning." Sam said groggily and Dean ruffled his brother's mop of long messy hair.
"Good morning Dean" Cas said looking up at the older Winchester and smiling before returning to his book and breakfast. Dean shivered a little at the sound of Cas' voice because he knew that their life together was all an illusion from his own mind.
"Watchya reading there Cas? The Catcher in the Rye?" Dean asked pulling the orange juice out of the fridge and pouring a tall glass, then reaching into a cupboard and retrieving a box of store bought powdered donuts.
"How'd you know I was reading it?" Cas asked curiously, smiling with eyes wide up at Dean.
"Just a guess. It's my favorite book." Dean told him.
"Mine too." Cas said.
"Oh Cool." Dean replied with a mouthful of donut, and sprayed some powdered sugar at Sam by accident.
"Ugh, Dean why don't you eat something remotely healthy? You're going to have a heart attack at 35." Sam grumbled, "And you've read a book?" he asked again incredulously.
"Do I look like I need to eat healthy?" Dean asked flexing his chest and Cas scoffed, "Not nearly as much as Sam makes it seem." He said under his breath and Dean smirked to himself. "And Sammy yes, I have read a book."
"Whatever you were only ever good at Autoshop, Gym and Biology so I never would have thought." Sam said grinning.
"Biology?" Cas asked closing his book and setting it on the table.
"I liked dissecting things, it was easy and I'm good with knives." Dean said wiping some car gasoline off of his fingers with a paper towel and dropped the messy black piece next to Cas' book.
"I'm gonna go get in the shower, see you guys later." Dean said, unbuttoned his jeans right in front of Cas who blushed and walked into the bathroom.

"So how are you holding up?" Sam asked smirking down at his best friend.
"Oh you mean, what's it like watching a hot guy peal a sweating t-shirt off right in front of you then tell me his favorite book is my favorite book, all the while trying to hide a boner under the breakfast table? Oh, I'm just peachy." Cas snapped.
"Okay I did not need that much information dude, and seriously? Why don't you just talk with him? Maybe he'll ask you out? Or you'll ask him out?" Sam asked.
"It's not that simple. Jesus, no wonder Dean says you have trouble picking up women." Cas grouched.
"Hey! I have a girlfriend, a really hot girlfriend actually."
"I know, I know." Cas said waving his hand at him, "I'm going to get my shower stuff alright? yell for me when Dean gets out." Cas said and hurried up the stairs.
Sam chuckled. If only Cas knew about the conversation he and Dean had had this morning about them being married for 27 years and having a daughter.
Dean hissed when his bath towel nudged his stitches while he was drying his hair. As soon as he had finished listening to Sam and Cas' conversations he smiled. It was almost exactly like what he'd imagined in his dream. Cas still thought he was hot, and that meant that maybe his dream was a possibility.
Dean walked out of the bathroom, towel wrapped around his waste, and he filled the kitchen with the smell of old spice and Irish body wash. He flicked Sam in the ear and headed towards the stairs.
"Hey dickface, tell Cas he can get in the shower." Sam shot at him.
"Okay asshat." Dean shot back and they both chucked.
"Your gonna make that dream of yours come true aren't ya?" Sam asked before Dean could turn around.
"Sure am, so you better marry Jessica or it'll screw everything up." Dean said pointing at Sam sternly.
"Trust me Dean I don't plan on being with anyone else." Sam assured him and Dean smiled.
Dean headed up the stairs and before changing knocked on Cas' door.
"Hey Cas?" he said pushing the door open to see Cas bending over into the closet, shirtless, and his khaki pants were low and his hip bones jutted out and Dean gasped a little when he turned around. It was even better then how he'd imagined it, and his dream was damn vivid.
"Yeah?" Cas asked, and down the left side of Cas' abdomen, right next to where his washboard abs stuck out was a thick pink scar. Dean had dreamed it exactly like that, exactly. Dean thought he was beautiful.
"I, umm, I'm uhh, out of the shower. You can use it now." Dean muttered. Dean cursed himself for being so nervous because he's already done this before inside his head, literally, but it really was like he was doing it all over for the first time.
"Oh, thanks." Cas spluttered back because when Dean turned around to leave he saw that Dean had a scar too. It started on the bottom part of the back of his neck on the right side and ended just over his collar bone.
"Oh Cas?" Dean said turning around suddenly, and tucked the towel around his waste as tight as it would go.
"Yeah?"
Dean walked across the room in two strides, pinned Cas against the wall, grabbed his face in his hands, and kissed him. Dean kissed him with all of the feelings he felt over the 'years' in his dream. He kissed him hard and passionate and desperate and lovingly.
Dean finally pulled away, and looked Cas in the eyes, both of their chests heaving in tune with one another.
"Go to coffee with me tomorrow morning?" Dean whispered.
Cas nodded yes and they kissed again.
Dean and Cas were together for as long as Dean dreamed and longer still. Dean didn't do everything exactly the same but it was almost identical to his dream. He did end up going into a coma for three weeks, and he kept the beard and they adopted a child. Meg never died though, because Meg was never real. She was a figment of Dean's imagination that was trying to make Bradbury happy. Gabe was as ridiculous as ever. Balthazar didn't die either. Dean and Cas did name their little girl Charlie and she looked just how he's imagined and Joey was the same way, but his little sister Mary wasn't an accident and came much earlier then he'd dreamed. Jo and Lucifer did get married, and were together as long as Dean and Cas. Jesse was Charlie's first boyfriend but he turned out to be a douche, and him being nice inside Dean's head was Dean's way of protecting his daughter. Charlie was exactly how he'd imagined, good with cars and a little less good with people. She was amazing and wonderful, and he loved her with all of his heart. Joey and Madison did get married and have twin boys. Samuel's middle name was Bobby not Balthazar, and Dean Charles was named exactly the same.
All in all, Dean realized that living it again, for real this time? It was a good thing, because he realized that he genuinely wouldn't have wanted to live his life any differently. Getting to repeat it, he didn't do or make a decision that would have changed how he'd dreamt their life would be and it was absolutely perfect.
I'm really bad at endings. The beginning of this chapter all the way to where I have Cas nodding yes is perfectly fine but the last two paragraphs, the damn conclusion, always gets me. I hhope you liked it. I really do. I did. This story was so fun to write and I'm so grateful and happy that you guys liked it too. You don't even know how much your wonderful response has meant to me. thank you.
Review please and tell me how you liked the end and the story over all? Pls?.
