A long, long time ago, there was a small poor family in Hyrule. Of course, though, many Hylian families were poor... This particular family seemed to be the poorest of all, however. The family was made up of a mom, a dad, an uncle, and one white egg with pink spots.
Now, you might be wondering why there is an egg, but to them, an egg is a perfectly normal thing to have. You see, in this time period, most Hylian females would lay an egg rather than have a live birth.
The mom of this family had predicted that it was going to be a girl. There always is a fifty/fifty chance on such guesses. There also had been a surprisingly large amount of girls born lately. The king and queen of Hyrule had six daughters themselves!
Each of the princesses were a lot alike in that they all had brown hair and blue eyes. While the king and queen were happy about their daughters, they also deeply desired to raise a blonde daughter. So, they had sent a request to all Hylian families that if they were to give birth to a blonde hair blue eyed female, they were to bring it to the castle.
Mrs. Rinku was very upset about this request because she knew she would be the one to have the perfect girl. The king kept in touch with this little family and talked to them often through letters. Uncle Alfon was the king's best friend and was also a castle guard.
One day, Alfon was sitting in the bedroom with the egg when suddenly, the egg started to hatch. Alfon ran from the room to get the mom and dad.
"Come quickly, your baby is about to hatch!" Alfon called out to them.
When they got into the room there was a broken egg and two beautiful babies. There was a boy and a girl both with blonde hair and blue eyes.
"Oh, they are so adorable!" the mom said.
Out of nowhere, there was a knock on the door. It was the king, but why had he come?
Alfon answered the door.
"Hello buddy!" Alfon called out enthusiastically.
"I heard your baby was born, may I see her?" the king asked.
How did he know? They just hatched a few seconds ago! Unless, of course, the king was standing just outside the house already and heard Alfon say they hatched.
"Sure, there is a boy and a girl!" Alfon said.
The two enter the room to see the two children sitting on the bed looking at the new scenery.
"What are you going to name them?" the king asked.
Alfon replied stupidly, "Alfon Jr. and Alfonette!"
The mom then replied calmly, "No Alfon, we are going to name them Link and Zelda."
The king gently picked them both up and cradled them gently.
"Zelda and Link, I love those names," the king commented.
"When do we have to give our beautiful daughter up?" the mom asked, trying to keep from crying.
The king thought for a while, then said, "When Zelda is three years old. We wouldn't want her to remember too much about not being a princess."
The mother kissed Zelda's forehead and said, "I sure am going to miss her."
The king gently placed the two sleeping babies onto the bed. He turned to leave, but then decided to wrap Zelda, the princess to be, in a beautiful blanket made of some of the finest material in all of Hyrule.
