The 30 Day OTP Challenge featuring Robin/Lucina
Day 29: Gazing into each other's eyes

Summary: When Robin first met "Marth", he wondered what her eyes were like.
They often say that someone's eyes can tell more about a person's life rather than their words. Robin never really believed it at first, until he met Lucina.
When Robin first met "Marth", he wondered what her eyes were like. Behind the mask, he couldn't tell. He always pictures them as striking and cold, because of how she acted towards the Shepherds when they first met. He wondered if they were a dark blue colour, to match her personality.
When her mask was broken and fell from her face, they exchanged glances. Her eyes were, surprisingly, a nice pale blue colour - though one eye seemed a bit brighter than the other. He couldn't figure out why, as she quickly looked away from him.
Robin wanted to stare into her hues a bit more, to find out the secrets hidden beneath them. Just who was she? What kind of person was she? After she left, he thought he would never see her again, so he wouldn't be able to find those answers out.
When Robin met "Lucina", he noticed how sad her eyes were. They were always cast downwards and while there were some cases where she seemed happy, he guessed that she was probably hurting a bit. They always seemed striking and cold around him when they first started to get to know each other, but now, they were a lot softer and loving. They held so much emotion in them - happiness, sadness, anger, love - and he could tell when she was being honest or not just by looking in her eyes.
Really, he could stare into her eyes all day if he could. They were beautiful, like her.
Lucina could feel him staring at her and she looked over at him, a brow raised in curiosity. "Is something wrong, Robin?"
"Oh, nothing is wrong." He leaned back a bit, cracking a smile. "Have I ever told you your eyes are beautiful?"
A blush worked its way on Lucina's face at the compliment and she shook her head. "No, I don't think so." She took a moment to look into his hazel coloured eyes.
Robin's eyes always had some kind of life to them. Rarely did they ever hold anger or sadness. They were bright, full of curiosity, and it was rather fitting for the tactician. They were a nice soft colour, like his personality.
"I think your eyes are beautiful as well." She finally said, after a long minute of silence. The white haired tactician continued to smile, reaching to pull her closer. He pressed his forehead against her, sighing contently.
"I'm glad you think so, Lucina."
He was the reason those eyes of hers would cry. From murdering her father in the future, to sacrificing himself to defeat Grima once and for all, he was the sole reason why she would cry. Yet, as he looked back at her, she refused to cry. She stood tall as Chrom called out for his fading friend and she looked into his eyes.
They were striking, but not as cold as before. They held confidence in them. They held a knowing that Robin would be back. His eyes mirrored hers. He was scared, but he refused to let it show through his eyes. He cracked a smile - the same smile that Lucina had fallen in love with - and opened his mouth to speak a few, soft words.
"May we meet again, in a better life."
He couldn't see well, because his own sight was blurred through the tears he had no idea were about the shed. Lucina could only nod, doing her best not to cry. She watched as he faded away, not a single trace of him left behind.
But she could still feel his gaze on her and she knew, for a while, he would be watching her back from whatever heavens he was in. Until he could return home to her, and finally be a family.
When Robin came back, he wasn't sure what to expect. Everything had changed within the span of a year. Even his friends had grown a bit and it was noticeable. Both Chrom and Lissa had an air of maturity around them, now that they've begun to take their roles a bit more seriously. All the shepherds were doing their own thing now and it was amazing to see how much things have changed.
When Robin was first pulled to his feet, the first thing he asked was if Lucina was still there.
"What, no 'how are you' to your best friend?" Chrom asked with a chuckle, shaking his head. "She decided to stay behind here and wait for you. She and Morgan are probably at the castle right now."
That was all it took for Robin to start waddling away from Chrom, Lissa and Frederick. He didn't get very far, and was forced to ride on Frederick's horse because walking was still a bit of a difficult task for him to do.
But soon, they reached the castle and when he got off of the horse, Lucina wasted no time to tackle him and pull him into an embrace. There were some tears in her beautiful, cerulean eyes, though she tried her best not to cry even if the tears were happy. He held her in his arms, a smile on his face.
"I knew you would come back," whispered Lucina as she pulled away a bit, to gaze into his eyes. They were still that bright, hazel colour she grew fond of. They seemed brighter now that Grima was gone. She looked at his hand, inspecting the back of it. There was no sign of Grima's connection to him. It cut truly been cut off.
"I told you to have faith in me." Robin laughed and pressed his forehead against hers as he continued to gaze into her cerulean hues, the brand in her eye practically sparkling. "I'm home, princess."
"You're home," Lucina repeated his words, laughing a bit as she entwined their fingers together. "I wouldn't have it any way."
A/N: We have reached the second-to-last drabble! The final drabble will be them finally getting married ( even though I accidentally had them call each other husband and wife in a drabble. I should fix that! ). Anyway, I want to say now I appreciate the reviews, even if I don't answer them or thank you guys publicly or privately. I never know what to say, to be honest. I don't like sounding too repetitive. However, I will do my best to answer reviews if I get any in future stories!
I'll be more sappy in the final drabble, I promise.
