AN: Hey y'all! I know it's been a while, but I've redone a pretty good bit of the story, so I hope you like it.

Also, if you can't tell, I do not own the Avengers.

To the untrained eye, I was just a normal girl, but SHIELD knew better. They had been keeping an eye on me for quite some time. They needed me to discover my 'abilities' on my own... no matter how long it took.

I am Anna Thomas, and this is my story...

"Anna! You're going to be late for school if you don't hurry!"

"Alright!" I called out as I slid down the banister of the stairs. Momma gave her famous 'I-know-you-did-NOT-just-say-that' look, so I quickly changed my reply to "Yes ma'am," and kissed my mother on the cheek before grabbing my lunch and running out the door.

I always thought I was just an average, everyday, small town, Southern girl. I wore my naturally curly, dark brown hair in a tight bun on top of my head. My eyes were an almost silvery shade of gray, but went unnoticed by others due to the large glasses I wore to hide my face. Momma jokingly tended to blame my bad eyesight on my fondness of reading, because I always had my nose in a good book, literally.

"Crap!" I suddenly realized I had forgotten my Calculus homework on the nightstand. I cautiously looked around me to be sure no one else was watching. I closed my eyes and concentrated and then... maybe now would be a good time to mention something. I can... move things... with my mind. I'd say telekinesis, but surely not. Either way, it comes in handy when I'm running late and forgetting stuff, much like today. It seems to have started about a month ago. I was running extremely late, and was trying to find my phone and I was thinking really hard trying to remember where in the world I had left my phone, and it just sorta flew into my hand. I probably should of freaked out, but I was distracted. The second time it happened, I was glad my mom was at work at the phone company, because I was screaming at the top of my lungs. I quickly got used to it, and started practicing in secret. So far, no one has found me out. You'd think that people would think it odd to look over their shoulder and see a math paper floating down the street, but I recently figured out how to make things invisible as well. It's so cool!

Like I said earlier, I'm running late. Now I was running to the corner so I wouldn't miss the bus. I somehow managed to make it to the bus stop just in time, and sat down in an empty seat on the bus. I pulled out my mp3 player and listened to my music the whole bus ride to school.

Around Lunch Time...

"Anna! Hey, Anna wait up!" Anna turned around at the sound of her best friend's voice.

"Hey, Laurel. How did chemistry go?" Anna asked (judging by the look on her face, it went pretty well).

"Excellent as always. Did you bring your lunch?"

"When have I ever let you down?" Anna replied as she smiled and held up her lunch bow. Laurel just raised an eyebrow at her. "You know what? Forget that question."

The girls joked back and forth all the way to a table to enjoy their lunch.

"So then, Michel reached over and-" Laurel's sentence was cut off by a sudden explosion which threw them across the room.

"Are you okay?" Lauren asked, getting up and coughing from the dust and smoke in the room.

"Yeah, I think so. You?"

"Yeah."

"What in the world was that anyways?" I got up and started to look around only to find that Laurel and I were the only people in the cafeteria. Everyone else had bolted out of the doors.

"Come on, Anna. We should go." Laurel pulled on my arm, but she knew it was no use my brain was already whizzing about in my head as I examined the room.

I was about respond to Laurel with a sarcastic remark when I saw something moving through the slight haze of smoke.

"Wait, there's someone else. I'm gonna go help them, but they may be injured. Go get the nurse or something."

"Anna, we don't-"

"I'm not taking no for an answer. Laurel, please just go get some help." At that, Laurel ran to the nurse's office, and I made my way over to the person, who I now saw was a man. Probably a teacher.

"Sir?" no response. "Sir are you alright? Do you need any help?" This time, the man moved to get up but stumbled and fell, so I rushed to his side and helped him up. He had one arm over my shoulder, you know for support, but suddenly that arm was wrapped around my neck.

Okay, so that's the first chapter. I would really appreciate it if y'all would leave reviews about what you thought or anything really. Anyways, just thanks for reading, and I'm going to try to update no later than next Saturday.
