Chapter 34

Egg Fortress Carrier...

"So, when we left for our original time, you got into a fight with Project Infinite trying to rescue your uncle. You're lucky you made it out of that fight alive Sonic." said Eggman as he worked on maintaining the ship's course within the command bridge of the massive vessel.

"Hey, it worked out." said Sonic crossing his arms.

"Barely! You're injured now, rendering you unable to fight anymore until you've fully healed. The piece of metal missed vital organs, barely. You'll be out of fighting for at least 3 weeks now and I don't think we have time for such a delay. Even with Tails and Shard active again, along with several older models of robotic minions, we're still at a disadvantage because of Mecha-Sally."

"But we've got a flying fortress now." said Rotor.

"That's only designed for troop transport and mass robot production with minimal defensive weaponry. Enough to keep enemy fliers off away but not enough to keep small boarding craft away and despite being in low orbit, if Infinite's helmet has cybernetic augments like I originally designed it in my time before his body repeatedly rejected the Phantom Ruby and the cybernetics, if he detects this vessel then we might as well abandon ship because I know for a fact that in the past, I had a single nuclear missile built but kept it as a end game weapon should I be defeated. Of course, eventually, I dismantled it because...that was a horrible idea in the first place. I mean, if it had been found out, it could have been used against me." said Eggman before he looked and saw everyone staring at him, "What?"

"You had a nuclear missile and never told us?!" yelled Tails.

"I don't, Robotnik does."

"Why didn't you tell us though?!"

"Do you know how dangerous those things are? Plus, his mobile fortress is too fast for it. If we used it and it missed because we fired at its previous location, we'd create a nuclear wasteland AND poison our planet's atmosphere. Do you know how bad that would be?!"

"Not as bad as him using it on us!"

"He hasn't in all this time he's had the advantage, now has he?"

"He's probably saving it!"

"Again, using it is a bad idea. And the thing about nuclear missiles, is they can produce a electromagnetic pulse. You know what that means right?"

Tails is silent.

"Exactly Tails. You, Shard, those animatronics and Bunnie's robotics go offline until the effect goes away and there's no telling how long that would take! Do you want to risk that?"

"Um...boss?" said Scratch as he watched the sky ahead of them.

"What is it you oversized Cluck bot? I'm in the middle of a discussion about why using a nuclear weapon of mass destruction is a terrible idea." said Eggman turning towards the robot before he caught sight of what Scratch had seen and his eyes widen as does everybody else's.

"Your evil past self has launched another Death Egg and this one is massive."

"How come we never got to see these before?" said Grounder as he wheeled up into view next to Scratch.

"Because the boss got sick of us bickering bolt brain." said Scratch whacking Grounder's head off.

"I knew that."

"Then why did you ask?!"

"Because I wanted to see if you knew!"

"WILL YOU BOTH SHUT UP BEFORE I PUT YOU BACK INTO STORAGE?!" yelled Eggman stomping his foot as he stood up from the control panel and both instantly shut up and stood at attention, "Okay. So, Robotnik has built yet another Death Egg. Why? Why make yet another weapon of mass destruction if he knows we'll target it?"

"I detect no weapon systems on that Death Egg." said Shard as he looked at the Death Egg.

"What? What do you mean no weapons?"

"The Death Egg's internals are configured different than a standard Death Egg. It is not meant for destroying targets."

"Then what is it meant for Shard?"

"Scanning...scanning complete. Death Egg design has a planetary scaled Roboticization firing mechanism."

"Planetary- Shit! We don't have time at all then. We'll have to risk a full on assault." muttered Eggman as he began pacing.

"Eggman, how bad is that?" asked Sonic walking over.

"If that thing fires, it'll roboticize a wide area at where the beam hits but to fully roboticize the planet...he'd need several of them yet he only has one unless..."

Eggman walks back over to the central control panel and begins to work on setting the ship's sensor range while bringing up a holographic model of the planet, the planet's moon and the Death Egg before the holographic model zooms in on a large metal spire that reaches up into low atmosphere, "He plans to amplify the beam, saving time and resources."

"How did ve not notice zis?" said Antoine pointing to the spire.

"Infinite. His attacks on us kept us all distracted. No wonder why Nicole reported that none of the other cells came under attack while we did. WE'RE the biggest threat to his plan." said Sonic as he looked at the spire with his red eyes.

"Exactly and now he knows we'll launch a desperate attack to stop him, putting us all at risk. This is a all or nothing move." said Eggman as he put his head in his hands.

"Well, we've got an advantage, don't we? We've got your Egg Pawns to keep his SWATbots busy, we've got your reactivated robot minions to help on the ground and we've got a few heavy hitters." said Sonic as he pointed to Tails, Shard and TD on the last bit.

"But if we did a straight forward assault, that Jackal could wipe us all if he wanted to." said Shade as loaded a double-barreled shotgun with eerily glowing shotgun shells.

"We do group attacks then. One group to keep the robots busy, another to keep Infinite busy and another to keep Mecha-Sally busy and try to disable the tower." said Tails as he looked over the planetary map.

Three portals suddenly appeared, one pulling the animatronics into it except for the Marionette into it before closing. The second one having Klaxon walk out of it and third having the figure that lost to Infinite walk out of it, his head wound fully healed.

"They'll thank me later." said the figure as he as he casually walked into the ship despite everyone except for TD, Razor and Klaxon getting defensive.

"Who ze heck are you?" said Antoine, keeping his sword ready.

"Not a threat to you guys since I saved TD's life from Mecha-Sally and allowed him to shift back and forth between his original doll state and his Mobian form." said the figure gently moving the sword aside with his glowing red claw.

"Yeah...how did you do that?" said TD eyeing the figure cautiously.

"Experience but you'll need a reality breaker's help to win."

"You're joining us?" asked Sonic, raising an eyebrow.

"If you lose, I die with you all."

"That's not ominous at all."

"Oh believe me, more is at stake than you know hedgehog."

"Can we even trust you? No offense but you look like the guy who could just as easily stab us in the back, literally I might add."

"You can trust him Sonic." said Klaxon as he walked forward, "I know how he is. He can be cruel, sadistic and sometimes just as cryptic as I can be but he's never the bad guy unless he wants to be. If he wants to be the bad guy...then you're royally slagged."

"Going back to using that form of censorship are we Klaxon?" said the figure as he crossed his arms with smirk.

"Oh shut up Mayhem. My dad did it too. Anyway, Sonic, I need to speak with you, alone for a moment." said Klaxon as he began to walk away, his voice dead serious. Sonic looked at the others before shrugging and following after him.

"So, what are the combat groups going to be?" said Rotor.

"Okay, so, Rotor, you and Bunnie along with Scratch and Grounder will be fighting the SWATBot army with the Egg Pawn army." said Tails as he created holographic images of the groups on the holo-map.

"Hey, we'll be at the front lines again!" said Grounder as he put his head back on.

"Yeah! I get to test out my new weapons with that!" said Scratch as had his arm turn into a explosive egg launcher.

"Mine too!" snapped Grounder as his drills were replaced with tesla coils.

"Can I finish?" snapped Tails, glaring at the two and then nodded as they put their weapons away, "Group to keep Infinite at bay..."

"Will be me." said the Marionette as he hovered forward.

"As vill I." said Antoine brandishing his sword.

"Um...okay, I guess that works..." said Tails slowly, not sure as to how well they'll do together especially without really knowing what the Marionette is capable of, "And the group to deal with Mecha-Sally and the tower will be me, Sonic, Shard, and TD."

"And me." said Mayhem stepping forward.

"Okay, I guess that's everyone." said Tails.

"Hey! What about me and my Chainaxe? No I will not say your real name! You go by Razor Jr. or I'll look into that demonic eye on your prison again with both my eyes!" snapped Razor before he began talking to his weapon and pointing a claw at the demonic blue eye on the shaft of the axe, "They know I'm already insane so talking to you out loud changes nothing about how my mental state looks! Yes I know they're looking at me weird but how do you think they'd react if they knew this axe had a bound daemon of Tzeentch in it? Heck, how do you think die hard Warhammer 40k fans would be if they knew such a daemon was bound in a formerly Khornate Chainaxe? Oh wait, I'm saying that out loud? YES! WE ARE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

"Um...you do whatever the hell you and your demonically possessed axe want to do." said Tails as everyone except Mayhem and the Marionette took a few steps away from Razor.

"What? He's harmless. Shut up! You're harmless as long as I have you because you hate having my eyes pierce your prison! Yes I know you and I are lore breaking for Warhammer 40k lore, shut up! YOU TOO!" said Razor before smacking himself on the head with the flat of the axe. (1)

"Okay, aside from the fact that someone let a insane Kangaroo/Dragon Hybrid get a hold of a demonically possessed axe with a chainsaw blade, is everyone else ready? said Tails as Sonic walked back into the room, fully healed and holding a device of some sort before putting it away.

"Yes." said everyone as Eggman readied the ship to head to the spire's location.

"Then let's do this!"

The Egg Fortress Carrier begins to head for the spire at full speed as everyone begins to get ready for the coming fight.

Three Hours Later...

[Sonic Forces OST- Final Judgement: Reactor]

Within three hours, the Knothole Freedom Fighters had quickly staged a rather massive assault, their low numbers boosted by the remodeled Egg Pawn army. Those at the front lines easily dealing heavy damage to SWATbots while being protected by shield drones, allowing them freedom of movement. With the SWATBot army being distracted, it allowed team two to get close to the spire almost undetected, almost.

"Clever." said Snively as he watched the security monitor within the Spire's control room as he prepared the spire's systems before turning to Mecha-Sally and Infinite, "Remove them from the equation."

The two nod before black tendrils appear from nowhere and pull Infinite into a red abyss before he can react leaving Snively mentally terrified but turns to Mecha-Sally.

"He can handle himself. Don't let them tamper with the spire."

The roboticized former leader of the Freedom Fighter nods and goes to finish the job.

Tails is working on cutting open a maintenance cover for the Spire when his ears twitch and he quickly turns and blocks the twin energy blades Mecha-Sally uses before kicking her away and she yelps and falls to a knee before looking at Tails.

"Tails, why would you do that?" said Mecha-Sally in Sally's voice as she stood back up causing Tails to freeze a moment as she slowly approached, "Tails, it's me. Your Aunt Sally."

Tails remains frozen as she slowly reaches for him before trying to impale him only for him to deflect the blade and point a Plasma Cannon at her as his eyes turn red.

"You're not Aunt Sally." he says before he lowers the cannon from her head to her stomach and fires, blasting her backwards where Shard suddenly appears and axe kicks her into the ground. She gets up and blocks a knife swing from TD in Mobian form and goes to impale him but instead of impaling a Mobian, she impales a doll who tilts his head to the side as his gem turns yellow.

"Was that supposed to hurt?" said TD before he teleported away as gravity suddenly increased on Mecha-Sally, forcing her to the ground. Sonic glares at her as he keeps his hand tight around the red orb he summoned to manipulate gravity on her.

"S-Sonic. Stop. It hurts." said Mecha-Sally in Sally's voice.

"I would, if that was true!" said Sonic as he lifted his hand into the air, throwing Mecha-Sally skyward where she gets grabbed by Mayhem and pile-drive'd into the ground, knocking her offline for now.

"She's out, for now." said Sonic panting lightly as Tails resumed cutting into the panel as Shard, TD, Mayhem and himself kept an eye on Mecha-Sally's "unconscious" being.

Back with Infinite...

Infinite struggled as the tendrils dragged him through a nightmarish void before being thrown to the ground as he exited another red abyss. He groaned as he got up, the impact being harder than he was prepared for before he heard the sound of a sword leaving its sheathe and looked up to see Antoine glaring down at him, sword at the ready.

"A sword guardsman?" said Infinite, chuckling as he stood up and readied his claws.

"A sword iz more fair than a gun." said Antoine not batting an eye at the cybernetic Jackal before him.

"You're not shaking. Funny. Your file states you as being a coward, easily frightened."

"Zat was before my evil double took my place and soiled my good name. Now, I fight you to redeem myself."

"I'm afraid you're outclassed here coyote."

"Maybe. But vat about zem?" says Antoine as he motions with his head as large beings in grey and heavily scarred Mark 5 "Hersey Armor" (2), the insignia on the shoulder guards heavily scratched and burned out as their heads and arms twitch as they tightly grip their dual chainaxes walk out of several red abyss portals as red distortion cracks form in the world. Infinite's cybernetically enhanced eye spots several thin black threads connected to the figures which lead all the way up to two massive black three-clawed hands as the world begins to fade away around them, being replaced by a hellish landscape as a giant white mask with a big open smile on it appears above the claws from the shadows within the hellish void as two large dragons appear behind Antoine, one looking similar to the one with Mayhem only covered in more shadow and the other is purely black with yellow eyes with black slits and blue lightning arcing off its entire body.

"You think numbers will win you this fight?" said Infinite as he activated the Phantom Ruby on his chest but nothing happened as the orb he began to summon sputtered out of existence in his hand, "What?!"

He looked at his hand in surprise before getting into a ready stance.

"I don't need the Phantom Ruby to beat a swordsman with a Deathwish or a puppet master and his puppets." said Infinite as he readied his claws while glaring death at Antoine. The left eye on the white mask begins to glow red as the Broken Berzerkers (3) charge Infinite.

"DIE SO WE CAN FINALLY DIE!" yelled one of the Broken as he swung his chainaxe at Infinite only to have his weapon deflected as the titanium alloy claws pierced the eye sockets on the helmet dropping the behemoth compared to the Jackal quickly before teleporting a short distance from the others. Infinite watches the other five closely before he looks at the one he just felled as it gets back to its feet in a almost zombie-like manner.

"This is bullshit." muttered Infinite as the sixth Broken charge him again.
