Epilogue

The mayor of Tokyo took the podium, smiling with his speech. Looking out to the crowd, he was pleased to see many people, press and police force had come for the ceremony. Taking a sigh, he began.

"Welcome one and all, to the Commencement Ceremony of the few individuals that have rid this city of a horrible man, and we as a city, thank you. Onigumo Touzoku or Naraku Kumo, whom ever you knew him as was a ruthless hanyou that held his grip tight on the police force as well as the city as a whole. He had this city in turmoil for many years, and many were under his control; figuratively and literally. It wasn't until very recently that we were able to trap him in a spider web of our own; and he was brought to justice." The crowd erupted into many cheers and applause. The mayor just smiled.

"Now I will start with the medals of valor, being awarded to the leader of the Northern wolf clan Chief Yorozuko Okama, and his next in line Detective Koga Okama." The two wolves stepped forward in their uniforms with all smiles. A lot of howls were heard, and they both looked embarrassed; it would seem their entire clan was in the crowd. The mayor continued after bowing to give his respect. "The medal of valor is awarded to an officer who offered acts of extraordinary bravery performed in the line of duty at imminent personal hazard to his life without personal regard of the consequences. These two officers, especially Koga, gave his life to the enemy to save his own family. Yorozuko, went against his own devises, asking help from the reigning demon lords without proper authority. The city of Tokyo thanks you both for your judgment." The mayor came up to the two wolves placing medals on their lapels, smiling in gratitude.

The crowd once again erupted into howls and applause. Camera lights went off as the two wolves stood on the other side of the stage waiting for the rest of the ceremony to be over. The mayor smiled as the crowd began to become quiet again.

"The next three awards I am to bequeath are ones that are not given lightly. The Medal of Honor is the highest that is awarded to a police officer; but also they are given to extraordinary individuals who needs to be recognized. The Medal of Honor is given to these individuals who has exhibited extraordinary bravery performed in the line of duty at extreme risk and danger to life. These three people are the ones that actually fought Naraku Kumo to the death and won." Cheers erupted from the crowd. The mayor smiled yet again. "I would like Detective Inuyasha Takahashi, Lady Kagome Higurashi- Takashahi and Lord Sesshomaru of the West to approach the stage please."

Inuyasha approached the stage wearing his uniform, he had his hair pulled back in a low ponytail. Sesshomaru and Kagome were in the best kimono; Kagome's belly close to bursting. The mayor turned to them, bowing low at the waist. Turning back to the podium he continued. "As many of you know, these people are the legendary rulers of the West five hundred years ago. And they are also the reason why Kanazawa has been overrun by so many people as of late." Some chuckles were heard in the crowd. It was announced the week after Naraku was killed what had come out of Kanazawa and tourism had increased 150%. And of course, Sesshomaru, Kagome and Inuyasha had been interviewed by many people, had many press conferences since then. "The city of Tokyo, as well as the human and demon communities, thank you for your work in the past, as well as now in the present." He turned to Inuyasha, pinning a medal on his lapel. Then turning to the ruling pair, he presented them with medals around their necks. Sesshomaru stood regally, Kagome was blushing with all of the attention. Camera lights went off again as the crowd shouted their thanks.

The mayor bowed low to them again as they joined the wolves on the other side of the stage. He continued. "These awards are given by not only me, but as a city as a whole. We thank all of you for your duty and judgment for this city; and we hope that you would continue it in the future. Once again, the city of Tokyo thanks you, you brave souls. May Kami continue to bless you in all of your future endeavors."

After the ceremony, there was a dinner for the honorees. It was, as well, another press field day. Luckily, it was only a few special press people were allowed, so the honorees could continue their meals in peace. It was close to the end of the dinner when some light cocktails were served as well as a meet and greet. Inuyasha was walking around with a drink in his hand when he was approached by a woman dressed in a pair of black pants with a buttoned up white shirt. Her hair was very close in color to his own but what struck him was her striking purple eyes. He had never seen anything like it before. He was momentarily stumped when he regained hisself. "I'm sorry. What did you say?"

She smiled. "My name is Shiori, Lord Inuyasha. And I just wanted to ask you a few questions if you don't mind."

He smiled. "Of course. Would you like to take this to a table?"

She nodded, smiling. She followed him to a table near a door. The stars had already came out and it was a sight to behold; especially if you were a hanyou. You could see them even with all of the light pollution from the city.

Shiori asked him many things about how he helped kill Naraku, but also about his past life, helping pave a way for hanyous. This is what struck him as interesting. Not many press personnel cared about the hanyous unless… "Shiori, may I ask you a question?"

She smiled. "Of course."

"You care a great amount for hanyou. Do you happen to be one?"

She smiled. "I am. I would have thought you being a great dog hanyou you would've smelled it."

He smirked at the apparent flirting she was doing. "Well I guess I was distracted by the beauty of said hanyou…"

She blushed and smiled. "Thank you my lord. You are too kind…"

This caught him off-guard. "Have you never been told you were beautiful?"

She shrugged her shoulders. "Oh I have, but only by my father and mother. But they were bias. I guess there is still segregation in our modern times with hanyou and demons and humans. Some hanyou do not have human features like we do Lord Inuyasha; people can be so cruel…"

He nodded; knowing exactly where she was coming from. Deciding to get her mind off things, he took her hand in his, running his fingers along hers. Feeling an electrical charge coming from hers, he was surprised that her eyes were enlightened. She was feeling the same thing. "So, you know what kind of hanyou I am my dear, but I do not know what kind you are?"

She smiled. "I am a bat hanyou. My father is one of the great bat clans in the South."

Inuyasha felt himself being brought back in time. He saw himself, his uncle Diachi, Katsuro and the Kami Bishamonten in his brother's office. "Kami forbids it that you are to ever find happiness with a mate."

He pulled a document out of thin air and looked at it. "This was to be one of your first documents as Southern Lord, Inuyasha. It was a mating contract of a bat hanyou princess. Kami chose her to be your soul mate. But now you cannot have her. She, as well as yourself, will never find true happiness. That is your punishment Inuyasha, Lord of the West. Kami wants you to suffer as your brother did; to have a lonely existence for the rest of your days. You will also not be gifted with an heir."

He was brought back to the present with a warm hand on his cheek. "Is everything alright Lord Inuyasha?"

He smiled. "Yes Shiori; everything is as it should be. Come let me go introduce you to my family. I'm sure they would love to meet you…" 'Thank you Kami. I will not squander this life and mate that you have given me.'

Back in the heavens Izanagi and Izanami smiled down at the hanyou. "Yes Lord Inuyasha, you have been redeemed."
