Chapter 42
Edward's POV
I watch her sleep across from me in the car.
Bella has been exhausted lately, it isn't because of the babies but about how much stress she is going through with her family lately.
It started off with Sue, and just about everyone else; that came into the apartment at the time.
She immediately begin to stress out even more and cry when her mother, had never been her mother in the first place.
Or the fact, that i was her ex English teacher that got her pregnant with twins girls.
Of course, Sue figuring out that her step daughter has lied to her, and never told her about her grandchildren must have been hard as well…I think it hard for everyone.
It's just the worst on my Bella.
Her mother, her real mother. Renee just made things worse. Bella had just been getting used to her step mother being around and she was happy again, but it was all ruined, and Bella lost it.
I had been so happy for Bella; she had finally got used to having her mother around and she was getting more comfortable as she was around me with her mom.
Sue got used to me too, I could tell she was more comfortable around me. She was really disappointed in me, and her daughter but as time went on, things changed for the best.
When Renee came back, everything went downhill. It didn't matter what it was, because everything just crashed to the floor.
Bella's happiness was…shattered, she wasn't happy anymore. Her trust in anyone, her uncle included, was gone. Though she trusted me, I know she does, she wouldn't still be here after all of this if she didn't.
She didn't want to go back to Chicago; she feared she would have to face some people she didn't want to see and I didn't blame her. The only thing that had convinced her that she wanted to go, was Sue.
Sue told her it would be the best idea, if she went there and faced her fears.
Bella agreed and packed her bags again, ready to go home to Chicago to see the man who had raised her and kept her safe from all the troubles in life.
So here we are, driving to Chicago with the twins sleeping peacefully in their car seats. Bella is sleeping next to me in the seat. Her head is on the window and she's quietly snoring. I would not be surprised if this would be her first full night of sleep since the twins were born.
We are a family, and I couldn't be any happier.
Several hours later
"Bella, Baby, we're almost there," I say, shaking her shoulder.
She slept through the night, and so did the babies surprisingly. I would have thought they would have been very fussy but they weren't, which Bella and I were both graceful for.
"Hmm?" she mumbled.
"We're almost to Chicago baby," I reply.
"Yeah? How much longer?"
"Not long. About ten minutes," I said.
She moved her head from the window and began to stretch. After being fully stretched, or as stretched as she was going to get, she looked over at me with a smile.
"You drove all night?" she asks.
"Don't you remember when you woke up?" I asked.
She shook her head.
"We pulled on the side of the road and I slept for a few hours," I told her.
"Oh. Did you sleep well?" she asked.
"I did. Thank you for asking," I said.
"Are we going straight to Charlie's?" she asked.
I shook my head.
"No. I think we should stop by the old apartment," I reply.
She looked at me confused.
"I thought you got rid of that place," she said.
"No I didn't. I figured we would come back sometime," I said.
"But you didn't think so soon."
I shook my head.
"How have you been paying the rent on that place?" she asked.
"I paid in advance," I said.
"Oh," she said.
She turned her head the other way and I felt like I did something wrong.
"Baby, what's wrong?" I asked.
"It's nothing," she said.
I didn't hesitate to pull the car over and put it in park.
"You know you can talk to me Bella," I said.
"I said it's nothing Edward," she said.
"Don't lie to me."
"It's like you planned all this, okay? I don't like how you just…know."
"Bella….I didn't plan this. None of this was in my plans, but I never regret it. I'll never regret you or the babies. You're my everything Bella," I said.
She looked at me with tears in her eyes.
"Do you really mean that?" she ask.
"Of course, I do baby. If I had to take something back, it would never be this. It would always be, always be, letting my family control my life," I said.
"Did you know that I love you?" she said.
"I do. I love you," I said.
I went to kiss her but heard a quiet cry. I laugh and Bella giggled.
"Thank you Charlotte. Mommy loves you too," Bella said.
"Of course you do," I said.
"Are we going to have a room to put the twins in?" she asks.
"I did have a guest room."
"We didn't bring the cribs. Gosh Edward we forgot so much," she said burying her face in my shoulder.
The crying continued.
"Hey hey. We'll be fine okay," I said.
"How are we going to be fine? We forgot the most important part for the twins!"
"Because I remembered the ring," I said.
"Ring? Edward what…?" she asked.
"Become mine forever Bella," I said.
"Edward?" she questions
"Fuck Bella. I love you so much."
"I know. I love you too. So so much baby. Now tell me what's going on," she said.
"Marry me. Marry me Bella."

A/N-
*hides behind laptop*
I bet you're mad at me, for I haven't updated in about a…month? And I promised I wouldn't do it again, stupid me.
You're probably mad how I ended this story. I know I said ten more chapters, but…I couldn't do it. The sequel is under way ;).
You've seen me around if you follow all my stories, but this one took a lot more time than I thought it would. It was an unexpected great story, and I loved writing every minute of it, hopefully you liked reading it and will like the sequel (expected this winter!).
This next title is going to be hard…any suggestions (I'll take anything)?
