"Between Truth and Lies"

Chapter 1

"Hello? Obaa-san?"

"Who's this?"

"Obaa-san it's me, Yumi." The girl on the other line with a long blonde hair rolled her beautiful emerald eyes, feeling kind of annoyed that her grandmother didn't recognized her voice.

"Oh, Yumi!" the older woman smiled when she learned who the caller was. "How are you? When are you going to visit us here?"

"I'm fine." Yumi said with a cold voice, ignoring the usual question of her grandmother. "Where's Miyu?"

"Miyu? Well, she's at her office." The elder woman looked at the clock. "But I guess, she will be on her way home right now."

"I'm home!" a sudden voice shouted through the front door. A girl with the same long blonde hair and emerald eyes happily entered the house with a paper bag on her right hand and a sling bag on her left shoulder. "Obaa-chan! I've bought you your favorite okonomiyaki."

"Oh, Miyu's here. Should I give her the phone?"

Miyu walked in the living room where she found her grandmother talking to someone in the phone.

"Obaa-chan? Who are you talking to?" Miyu asked.

Her grandmother, Kaoru, looked at her with a smile plastered on her wrinkled face and gave her the phone. "It's your sister. She said she wanted to talk to you."

"Huh? Yumi?" curiosity filled her senses. Her sister didn't normally ask for her. And, she didn't normally call without asking for a favor either.

Yumi and Miyu were twins. But, because of Yumi's attitude about getting high and mighty all the time, which is completely opposite from Miyu's behavior, Miyu can't make herself comfortable being with her. That's why they grew up distant to each other.

They were both orphan since they were babies. That's why Kaoru, their grandmother, was the only one who took care of them when their parents died because of an accident.

After they graduated college, Miyu stays with her grandmother while Yumi decided to work in Tokyo, leaving her and their grandmother behind. Well, it's not like Miyu can't look out for her grandmother all by herself. She was just kind of mad when Yumi got married and she didn't even tell or invite them in her own wedding. Her grandmother says it's okay and just let her sister do what she wants since she was like that ever since they were small, but Miyu knew better, she knew that her grandmother was hurt because of her sister's actions. That's why they didn't even know the name of her husband. And Yumi wasn't so kind to inform them about her new family.

That's why now, she was wondering why she was looking for her.

She took the phone and put it on her left ear.

I wonder what she wants from me..

"Hello?"

"Ah, Miyu? It's me, Yumi." Yumi's voice was kind of energetic when she talked, making Miyu more curious.

"Uhm.. why?" she didn't know what to say. They never actually talked. She didn't know why but if not for their same looks she will doubt that they are even sisters.

Miyu heard a giggle on the other line. "Actually, I am on my way there now. I wanted to discuss something with you. So, let's talk later, okay? I'll be there at 6:00." Then she hung up.

Miyu put away the phone when the call ended. She sighed. Her sister never changed. She always does what she wants.

"So? What did your sister say?" her grandmother asked, after she put the phone down back to its cradle.

She looked at her grandmother and smile. "Yumi said she'll be here at 6:00." She looked at her watch. "So, we still have one and a half hour to clean and cook dinner, obaa-chan."

She saw her grandmother's face lighten up.

X~x~X~x~X

"Hi, obaa-san, Miyu." Miyu and her grandmother saw a smiling woman wearing a formal dress in front of them.

"Oh, Yumi!" her grandmother rushed to the door when she saw her granddaughter that she haven't seen in the past six years. "I've missed you so much. I thought I'm going to die without even seeing you."

Yumi hugged her back. "Why should I do that? You're the only grandmother I have, I'm not selfish obaa-san." She looked at Miyu and smile at her.

Miyu smiled back. She just realized that she missed her sister too. And just by looking at her she feels like she was looking at her own self. She never changed, Yumi is. She is still sophisticated as ever.

"Well. Hello there my dear sister. It's been six years, huh?" she hugged her too.

She was surprised that's why she didn't hug her back.

She let her go and flashed her a big, beautiful smile. "We're going to talk later, okay? I'm starving. Why don't we just eat first?"

"That's right. I cooked your favorite curry, Yumi." Her grandmother said and led them to the kitchen.

"Wow! I've missed you cooking obaa-san! I can't eat normal foods there."

Miyu pouted at her words. Normal food? Seriously, what kind of food they were eating in Tokyo? An abnormal one?

Miyu ate in silence while Yumi and Kaoru were so busy talking to each other. After they ate dinner, Yumi and she went to the balcony to talk.

"So, I came here to tell you something." Her twin sister took a sip on the cold beer she was having, Miyu just choose to have an apple juice. She hates alcohol, number one reason is that she had low tolerance on the said drink.

"About what?" she took a sip on her drink, too.

"Could you promise me first that you will listen and agree with me?" she looked at Miyu with a serious face.

Out of curiosity, she nodded and said 'yes' without thinking.

Yumi's face enlightened. She quickly dropped her beer on a table and holds her hand. "Really? Oh, Miyu! Thank you!"

"But.. you need to tell me first what is it."

She sighed and held her beer again. "Actually.. I want you to come with me in Tokyo."

Miyu's lips parted. "W-why?"

"Please?" she looked at her once again with pleading eyes. "I'll tell you everything when we got there."

"But..how about obaa-chan? I can't just leave her alone here. You know she's too old to take care of herself." She protested, not really liking the idea of leaving her grandmother alone.

"Two weeks. Just two weeks Miyu. I know obaa-san can take care of herself. And, she can just ask for help in the neighborhood. I'm sure everyone will gladly help her." her twin sister answered. Miyu can't trace even a bit of concern on her voice, which made her annoyed.

"How can you say that so casually? Aren't you worried about her?" Miyu's face became red. The annoyance on her voice is gradually showing.

"Of course I am! She's my grandmother too!" Yumi slammed her beer on the table. She closed her eyes and sighed. She's controlling herself not to get mad at Miyu too. "It.. it just that.. I'm having a fight with my husband right now.. and.. and I want to fix things up."

Huh? So, what's its connection to the favor she's going to ask her?

"Please.. I'm begging you Miyu.. Come with me.."

Miyu decided not to listen at her request. Yumi's getting selfish again. And she's not going to leave her grandmother alone just because of God knows why reason Yumi has. "I'm sorr—"

"It's okay Miyu. Just go with your sister." Their grandmother suddenly pops out of the balcony. The two of them didn't notice that their grandmother was silently listening to the two of them. "I'll be okay here. Didn't you just tell me that you want to go to Tokyo too?" Kaoru flashed her beloved granddaughter a sweet smile.

"But obaa-chan.." her grandmother hugged her and tapped her back. Reassuring her that she would be fine.

"Besides, it is just for two weeks, right? You have to go there and buy me some sushi."

"Yeah." Yumi answered. She smiled. "Oh, obaa-san thanks!" she hugged her grandmother too. "I love you, obaa-san."

For some reason, Miyu's eyebrow rose up. You're just saying you love her because she agreed. She can't help but to silently think.

"Miyu?" her sister turned to her.

"What?"

"Obaa-san already agreed. You'll come with me, alright?"

She let out a deep sigh and looks at her grandmother who was silently telling her that she needed to come. Oh, her grandmother was so kind. But obviously, Yumi was abusing it.

"Alright. But, just for two weeks. No more, no less. And obaa-chan," she turned to her grandmother when she was going to say something, "I will not leave here until Aya came here to accompany you."

"Sometimes Miyu, I think you are my grandmother." She said, laughing which Yumi followed.

"Yes, obaa-san. Miyu's so grouchy. I have no doubt why you're still single until now." She giggled.

Instead of being more irk, she laughed with them. It was her first time laughing with her twin sister and she was relieved to feel good being with her.

"Bye obaa-chan! Take care of yourself, okay? I already call Aya to accompany you here for the whole two weeks. She must be here later. I'll call you when we got there, okay?" once again, Miyu hugged her grandmother. She didn't know why but she doesn't want to leave her grandmother.

"Okay, okay. Just take care there, and take care on the road, Yumi." Her grandmother waved her hand.

Yumi smiled and kissed her grandma. "Don't worry, Obaa-san I'm a skilled driver."

They said their final goodbye to their grandmother and Yumi started her car.

Miyu and Yumi arrived in Tokyo. And Yumi insisted that they should go to a shopping mall first.

"Why are you buying me clothes, Yumi? It's not like I need them. I told you that I would just bring some clothes with me." Miyu asked while Yumi was so busy choosing dress for her.

She ignored her and took a pink satin dress with laces and fit it to Miyu. She nodded and gives it to the saleslady that was following them.

"Y-you don't have to buy me dresses you know. And the dress you were choosing was not my style. I can't wear that!" looking at the clothes Yumi chooses for her, Miyu really can't imagine herself wearing those. And besides, she noticed that Yumi's choices of dress were too revealing. And she noticed that her choices of clothes were similar to Yumi's style.

Yumi rolled her eyes. "Oh come on, Miyu. This is Tokyo. You should wear dresses like these here. And besides," she look at her from head to toe, Miyu felt slightly insulted the way she looks at her, "you look ugly with your dressing style. You look like an old maid."

"O-old maid?" her eyebrow arched up.

Yumi smiled at her, "I was just kidding. I'm buying you these clothes just because you're my sister. And I'm suggesting that you should change the way you dressed too, okay?" she look at the saleslady that was obviously having a hard time carrying all the clothes.

Miyu can't do anything but to sigh. She stopped complaining since she knows that her sister wouldn't listen to her.

After they were done shopping for clothes and shoes they went to a salon.

"H-hey Yumi.. What are we doing here?" she whispered.

Yumi ignored her for the nth this day and talk to the personnel at the said famous salon.

After a while a girl with a long red hair walk to her with a kind smile on her face. "This way, ma'am."

She looked at Yumi who was comfortably sitting on a couch. Yumi looked at her and gave her another smile.

The personnel made her seat on a high chair, put a towel on her body and started to cut her hair.

"Ah. W-wait! Why are you cutting my hair?" she exclaimed. Stopping the woman before the scissor could even touch her hair.

The woman just smiled at her. "Your sister requested to make your hair as same as hers. We were just taking orders ma'am."

She sighed defeated. She looked at her sister who was still sitting on the couch while talking to someone over the phone.

"I told you, I slept last night with my friends!" She overheard her sister shouted over the phone.

Huh? Friends? She asked herself, confuse.

"Why can't you just believe me, Kanata? I'm so tired of your attitude! I'm not lying! Damn it!" Yumi was red because she was mad. She may be noticed that she was looking at her that's why she made her way through the door.

Why Yumi looked so mad? She asked herself. She can't hear clearly hear what she was saying.

She just shrugged it off and the personnel continue cutting her hair. She was not sure why her sister is doing all these, brought her in Tokyo, shopped her expensive and branded clothes, and now cutting her hair like hers. She can't help but think that her twin was up to something. But she can't do anything about it, right? Her sister would probably insist what she wants until she agreed. That's why she was just obediently sitting there; letting her sister do all the work she wanted with her.

After cutting her hair, the personnel lead her to a private room.

Ohh.. I didn't know salon this days have this kind of room now. She thought innocently, she was new to this kind of thing.

The same woman who cut her hair made her lay down on a bed on that private room.

"Excuse me.. what are you going to do?" she asked when the girl put a gloves on her hand and pick up a gun and put a needle on it. It looks like a tattoo machine.

Tattoo machine? Eh? What is she going to do with that? She wondered. The room is completely air-conditioned but a bit of sweats can trace on her foreheads.

"Your sister tells me to put a small mole in your chest."

"But.. why?" she asked. Completely shock. She could understand why her sister wants her to have the same hairstyle like hers, but putting a fake mole on her chest too? Isn't that going too far?

"Because I want you to." Her sister Yumi, was now on the same room as her. She probably predicted that she would ask questions and probably freak out. She suddenly undressed her top and shows the girl her mole. "Make sure you put the mole on the same place as mine." her face was expressionless.

The woman looks into her mole for a couple of second before answering. Maybe memorizing the exact place of it. "Yes, ma'am."

The woman looked at her, silently saying that she needed to remove her dress. Miyu sighed. She really doesn't understand her sister. She knew that she can argue with her until afternoon but knowing her, they wouldn't leave the salon until Miyu agreed to her command.

She silently removed her dress without saying a word and lied on the chair; she didn't saw Yumi grin when she did so.

"Okay ma'am. This will hurt a little but it will be quick. Okay, take a deep breath."

Miyu was startled when she can feel the needle pierce on her flesh. She bit her lip and endured the pain. After a while it was done. She looked at the new black dot on her right chest. It was slightly red and it still hurts a little. The woman was wiping some alcohol on her new mole while saying something, she doesn't know what she says for she was not paying attention to her. She's too busy memorizing what to say to her sister later.

She was ready to put her dress back but her sister suddenly grabs her dress and gave her a paper bag.

"You should wear this."

"What's that?" she said, taking the paper bag and opening it. She saw the dress and high heels they shopped awhile ago. "Why should I wear this?" she asked, not really liking the way she was controlling her.

"Just wear it, hurry. We're going to discuss something on the car."

Wanting to know what is the real reason why Yumi did all these; buying her clothes which matched to Yumi's style, giving her a hairstyle just like hers, and going as far as putting the same mole on her chest, she quickly put the dress on without arguing.

While on the car, Yumi was silent.

Miyu find it uncomfortable. She was itching to ask her what she really wants. She wanted to get over and go back to her grandmother.

"Yumi.." Miyu started.

"Please pretend to be me in two weeks Miyu."

What? Miyu's eyes widen. "W-what did you say?" she hoped that she just heard her wrong.

Yumi sighed. "I need you to pretend to be me while I am gone Miyu."

"Why?"

"I'm going to France tomorrow. I'm going to do something there. And my husband won't let me."

"So, you want me to deceive him because of that?" Miyu was becoming irritated as seconds passed by.

Another sigh, "Yes.."

Miyu bit her lips. Took a deep breath and close her eyes. Calm down, Miyu. Just calm down. She silently told herself. But, damn! Who would be calm in that situation? Her sister was asking her to do some ridiculous thing! She's asking for impossible!

"Please Yumi." She started again after a few seconds with a low voice. "Please tell me you're joking."

"Fuck it, Miyu!" on Miyu's astonishment, Yumi was the first to get mad. "Do I look like I'm fucking joking?!"

"You are gone for six years, Yumi. Six years." Miyu gritted her teeth and her knuckles turning white, "When you got married, you didn't even bother to invite or tell us about your wedding. And now that your marriage was in jeopardy, you're asking for my help?" she let out a sarcastic laugh, "No way in hell I will do it."

Miyu had enough. She let her sister do what she wants but there is really no fucking way she would let her control her this time.

"Damn it, Miyu! You already gone this far. Please, don't back out on me now." Her voice almost subdued. "I'm.. I'm seriously asking for your help. I know I'm a bitch, but.. I really need your help. I.. I just can't think of anything else to do. Please."

Miyu bit her lip again. Tears starting to form on her eyes, "You're.." she sighed, "You're asking for impossible Yumi. I'm sorry. I won't do it."

"Fuck!" Yumi cursed and smote her hand on the steering wheel.

"Stop the car. I'm going home. It's my mistake to come here in the first place." She started to unbuckle her seatbelt, without realizing her watch slipped out of her wrist.

"No. Bullshit, Miyu. No. You'll help me with this." Yumi's jaws tightened. She decided she won't let Miyu back out on her.

"Okay." Miyu's voice was surprisingly calm, Yumi wondered and if she was going to do her request and look at the blonde girl beside her.

"You're goi—"

"I'll just jump off, then." When Yumi looked, Miyu's seatbelt was already unfastened and she was starting to open the door of her car. Out of impulse, Yumi suddenly stop the car.

"Shiiiit!" Yumi once again smote her hands on the steering wheel and bawl out of frustration.

Miyu quickly gets off of the car as soon as Yumi stopped the car. She was determined to jump off if Yumi didn't stop the vehicle. But before she could even closed the car door they both heard a horn and they both look at their front.

Miyu's eyes widen when they saw a big truck coming on their way. The said truck looks like to be uncontrollable. Miyu heard a sickening scream from her sister before the impact came.

Miyu felt herself being thrown away. She bumped her head on the rock when she was thrown by the impact. Blood covered her whole face.

Before she loses consciousness she saw the car blow up.

"Y-Yu.. m-mi.." she's trying to reach her hand and help Yumi who is inside the car but she was too weak to even lift her hand. And after that she lost her consciousness.

X~x~X~x~X

Miyu's head hurts so much that she thinks it would blow up any second.

She moaned and heard a ruffling sound on her surroundings.

"I think she's awake, doctor." An unfamiliar voice said.

Huh? Where am I? She was too weak to talk.

She felt something touched her arm.

"I guess she is." Another unfamiliar voice

"How is she?" the first man who first talked asked.

She's trying to open up her eyes but it took her a while to do it. When she finally opened her eyes a dirty white ceiling was the first thing she saw. She moaned again because of the pain she was feeling and saw unfamiliar faces around her.

She saw an old man wearing a white coat and a stethoscope around his neck and two women with white dresses.

A doctor? Am I in a hospital? Why?

When she felt another presence in the room, her eyes automatically followed the other pair of eyes that was looking at her.

Her emerald eyes saw a brunet man in a business suit. His left hand is on his pocket and coldly glaring at her.

Who.. Who are you? She was still too weak to utter a single word and just asked a question on her mind.

"You're finally awake." The brunet said to her.

"W-who.." she managed to say.

A form of lines appeared on man's forehead. "Who what?" he looked irritated and confuse.

Miyu closed her eyes again for a minute, she was trying to regain a little of her strength. Damn, my head and whole body hurts like hell. She was trying to recall what happened when the accident on Yumi's car crossed her mind.

But before she could utter another word, the man in a suit talked.

"Ruu's worried sick to you." The man talked again, completely ignoring the word she had said.

Ruu? Who's Ruu?

"Ruu?" she asked her, garbled.

"Yeah, Yumi. Our son."
