I've been gone a long while, but here is a little preview of the next chapter

Chapter 2: Intelligent Networks

A series of rapid-micro-burst-transmissions marked the completion of a successful FTL jump, the collection of programs sending and receiving data at near instantaneous speeds; logging it all and sorting in order of market priority. Within a split second consensus had been achieved, programs XSA-1867-759A to XSA-1869-200F, a total of just over fifty-thousand programs would query the local area, sending out deep low-band frequencies designed to compile and visualize a virtual image of the system that scout vessel KX134 currently resided in.

After a few minutes the image was fully formed, and the programs efficiently interpreted the data; clusters of what could have been precious metals in the form of thousands of variably sized asteroids were orbiting a large gas giant, one of only two planets in the system both of them being uninhabitable to normal organic life-forms. The other planet in the system was a barren red-rock ball roughly half the size of the Quarian home world Rannoch, the ozone and biospheres had long ago burned away, leaving nothing but a sandy-maelstrom on its surface. Both of these planets orbited on an odd axis around a rare and relatively stable binary star, its two yellow hues burning brightly against the dark-silent vacuum of space.

But what the networked intelligence were most interested in was the five kilometer long device of unknown composition, the two gyroscopic rings housing the huge core of element-zero, coequally known galaxy-wide as a mass relay. However the topic that sent the simulated sense of confusion and surprise throughout the whole of the Geth collective in the area was the fact that the object in question was surrounded by a host of hundreds of 2 foot long machines, a single glowing eye visible in the centre of each of them. The machines were swiveling and pivoting at seemingly random times in odd; almost mapped patterns, lights occasionally appearing from the 'eye' of the device then disappearing as quickly as they came.

The Geth were stunned, they deliberately chose uninhabited systems that the Council races had not yet explored, and they feared contact with other races, the general xenophobia pointed in their direction backing the point up aptly. So when they saw these machines they had no idea what exactly to do, a consensus regarding the next action to take just could not be achieved. As the Geth ship slowed, a result of the programs indecision; it's forward mounted thrusters bringing it to a complete halt, the machines in question seemed to 'notice' them, turning in the collectives direction.

In a matter of seconds a wall of metal had been formed, the countless amount of probe-like machines making an impressive barrier, though they did nothing else, no energy output levels varied in the slightest, it was as if they were waiting for a command, or maybe for the Geth to make the first move; but just at that point, a huge cruiser size ship appeared out of the inky-blackness of space, positioning itself behind the curtain of metal.

So there is a preview of the next chapter, I finally found myself with some free time and the need to write something, so I thought… Why not make a little preview for the next chapter I had planned.

Anyway guys, I hope you liked it. Let's hope it won't be long until I update this to the full chapter
