All Around the World

Chapter 20: Does Anybody

Kira's POV

I couldn't come closer.

I couldn't let go.

There comes a time as you grow older when you realize that life is very, very cruel. Things don't always go how you want them to. You can picture your life one way, but then life laughs in your face and decides it's going to go the complete opposite.

Didn't wanna get over you,

Didn't wanna know what I know.

I have never felt so much pain in my whole life. My heart had been completely ripped out of my chest and thrown into a garbage disposal. I knew I was being dramatic, but did I care? Not really. Sure, I had experienced pain when my parents passed away, but that was a complete different category of pain. Ray had loved me unconditionally, while my parents...well I could never really live up to their standards.

Been counting on angels,

Instead of facing the truth.

We went to so many interviews, so many press conferences, had so many photoshoots...but I had never wanted to get away from my teammates and be by myself more since I had known them. Being in a room with Ray felt like I was walking on pins and needles. He would blatantly ignore me, or if someone tried to direct us into a conversation together, it was always a fail. Ray had cut me out of his life, and he made that very, very clear. If I was willing to forgive him for lying to me about Mariah... and his engagement to her, why couldn't he forgive me for one simple mistake? It's not like Johnny and I did anything...we had one kiss and that lasted about ten seconds before Ray walked in and I realized what was happening.

But then again, that was life.

There's dust on my shadow,

'Cause I'm too afraid to move

We were back in Japan, it had been about a week after the final battle in Russia, and all of the adrenaline and excitement from winning the tournament was gone. Kai, Luna, Tyson, Ray, and myself were all staying at Tyson's house for the time being. My grandfather was still in Moscow dealing with BBA stuff, and he didn't want me alone in our house in case Boris or Voltaire had found some way to get to me. Max had gone back home with his mom to go to school in America, he said something about wanting to experience New York... I couldn't blame him. Kai was still here for Luna, but apparently was going to have to leave soon for schooling..and Ray... well Ray was still here because of the contract. He had no way to get back to China without payment and as far as I knew, payment still hadn't gone through.

I still hadn't talked to him since the last time at the tournament, and it was killing me. I had wanted to talk to him so badly, my heart was aching to hear him say my name...or even just to look at me. Honestly, I don't even know if he knew I had reached out to him when he was injured at his final battle in Moscow. Or that I stayed with him for the longest time... but I couldn't bare to be there when he woke up... I knew he was going to reject my concerns..and that wasn't something I could face.

I heard a knock on my door and I caught the beyblade I had been tossing up and down in the air. "Come in." My gorgeous cousin walked in, her lavender hair fishtail braided to the side and she came to sit on the edge of my bed as I sat up.

"You look terrible..."

"Yeah well I'm sure I look better than I feel.." I avoided her gaze and she sighed.

'Cause we're all willing to be torn in two

With one taste of bliss.

"He left to the airport about two hours ago. I was going to wait until you came out of your room to tell you, but that wasn't happening soo..." I had nothing to say to that. So, I wasn't even worth a 'goodbye.' 'see you next time.' nothing.

"Kira, you need to stop being so damned stubborn! There's still a chance to bring him back before he gets on that plane!" Luna growled, glaring daggers at me. I sighed heavily and stood up, walking to the other side of the room.

"What's the point? He obviously doesn't give two shits about me if he just up and left without saying goodbye!" I blinked, pushing the tears back. How could my body still be producing these? I thought I had cried myself dry...

No I don't know where to start,

Does anybody have a heart?

That doesn't wanna fall in love again,

"Are you freaking kidding me? That guy loves you more than anyone I've ever seen in my whole life, and that's saying a lot! Every time he would look in your direction it looked like.. he..." I turned to look at Luna and she sighed, looking at the floor. "You're both pig headed buffoons. You're going to lose each other and never know what could have happened because you're both stupid idiots!"

"Well if he really loved me like he said he did, he would still be in that room next to mine at this damn dojo..." I saw Luna take a deep breath in and it sounded like she was holding back tears. Why did she feel the need to cry? Was my heart that broken that it was pushing it's way to those around me?

"Kira... Kai told Ray before he left, that if he got on that plane to China to never come back..."

"W-what?" I felt stunned... I had no way of reaching him if he did go to China, but I always knew that he would come back to the BladeBreakers if we needed him... but now... I looked over to the mirror that sat on the opposite wall of my bed and grabbed my motorcycle keys and helmet and ran out of my room, and down the stairs to my black bike that sat on the curb. There was literally no time to waste. I had no idea when Ray's plane would be taking off.. I knew he always liked to be really early, so hopefully this time was no exception.

I hopped on the seat of my bike and revved the engine and sped off towards the Tokyo Airport. Please oh please, do not let me miss this plane. Luckily since I was on my bike I could weave my way in and out of traffic, and hit every green light on the way up there. Seemed as though luck was on my side this one time. It took about twenty minutes from Tyson's house to get to the airport, and every second I felt myself growing more and more anxious than the last. Finally I had arrived and parked my bike in the short term parking and ripped the helmet off my head throwing it on one of the handlebars and ran inside the airport.

"Hey look, it's Kira from the BladeBreakers!"

"Kira!"

"Oh wow, Kira and Ray in one day what a sight!" I grimaced looking around. Perhaps I should have kept my helmet on. I ran up to the front desk of the Chinese Airlines and the lady looked stunned to see me.

"I know Ray Kon was here checking in like...two hours ago. Please I need you to help me and tell me what flight he got...and if it's left yet."

"I'm sorry Ms. Dickenson but that information is classified." The lady was looking down at her computer, and writing something as well. She typed in a few keys and something printed out of her computer.

"Please you don't understand I really need-" She slid a piece of paper over to me and held her finger up to her lips, winking. "Oh.. thank you so so much!" I grabbed the papers and looked at them. She had printed me off a boarding pass that would get me through security... Gate fifteen B.. that was so close! Luckily, there were hardly any people in line, and the people that were in line let me cut through since I didn't have any extra luggage. After getting through security I dashed down the hall. Gate eight, nine, ten, I saw a long line of people that seemed to be waiting to get on a plane around gate fifteen, so I pushed myself harder to run faster. Gate fifteen, leaving to Beijing, China in ten minutes. I made it! Now to find Ray.

"Breaking news from the Beyblading News Network, we have just received word that Ray Kon, formerly of the BladeBreakers has just arrived back in China and is currently en route to his home village. It seems as though the end of the reign for one of the most amazing teams we have seen compete in the world tournament has officially ended it's reign." A woman with short brown hair had a sullen look on her face as she read the report, and I stopped in my tracks and stared at the screen in disbelief. I thought Luna had said that he had only left two hours ago.

"Are you looking for him?" A younger woman around my age asked me as she stood in like, leaning against the wall.

"For Ray?" She nodded, and I shrugged.

"He switched plane tickets with me because I had some things I needed to take care of here before going back to China... I'm so sorry.. if I had known.." I couldn't even finish listening to her speak. I collapsed to my knees and broke out into tears.

Does anybody have a heart?

Pieces of love, pieces of pain...

This really was the end. No more BladeBreakers... no more travelling the world together... and no more getting to hear his voice every day. My heart was shattered, and I didn't care who knew it. I've never been one to show people how I feel...but when it hurts this bad.. you can't really help it.

Somewhere in a laboratory, thousands of miles away.

"Stage two of ridding the BladeBreakers of Kira is in effect sir." A man noted, typing on a keyboard as Kira's crying form was on several screens in front of all the people in the room.

"Wonderful, everything is going according to plan. We may have had a slip up...but everything went right back to how we needed it..." A figure in a hooded silhouette grinned as he clasped his hands together, walking over to the screen.

"One day soon Kirana you will be all mine, and the power you possess will help me wipe out all these...mediocre bladers." The hooded man turned and pressed a button. "Send them in."

Within minutes a group of young adults came into the darkened room and looked around until they spotted the hooded figure.

"I want you to go after the BladeBreakers. Not now, give it a few months when they're all separated and vulnerable. Rid them of their blades and beasts." The hooded man walked up to the leader of the group, who was tall and stocky. "You are to go after Kira, and make sure to send fear down into her very soul."
