Chapter One
Sookie POV
He's gone. Married to Freyda, the Queen of Oklahoma. The bond between us is broken, by my own hands, and my old family farm-house only holds memories of the times I want to remember and they're gone now too.
Eric is no longer mine and he no longer wants me.
With tears spilling down my face I throw as many clothes as I can into the tiny suitcase. I no longer want to live in this house that still holds his scent but I don't want to burn it down either; it holds memories of my Gran.
I write a note for Jason and Remy telling them that I'm going away to clear my head for a bit and not to panic. I feel selfish as I climb into my battered yellow Hondo Civic II, I'm leaving Hunter and Remy when he's going through the worst stage of his telepathic ability.
I speed off, not bothering with a seat-belt or even to wipe the tears spilling from my face. It's been three months since we killed Victor and ever since things haven't been right.
Eric and I have drifted apart, Bill and Amelia no longer speak to me and I have no way of contacting my fae family since Niall closed the portals and didn't leave a way for me to contact him. Everyone is moving on and I'm stuck being the same old Sookie. My left hand, which isn't on the steering wheel, goes to wipe the tears from my cheek, then travels down to my neck where the scar from Eric's savage bite after we killer Victor is.
My teeth clench together and my shields go down. Rain continues to fall down rapidly, making the old tires on my car slip on the road but I don't care. Scanning the area as I drive over the uneven and slippery bridge, a void comes closers to me which indicates it's a vampire.
I curse under my breath as my car swerves and hit's the old stone wall, crumbling it so it falls towards the water below. The front left tire is hanging off the bridge as I try and fail to reverse. The vampire comes nearer, making my heart sputter.
My car crashes forward so it swings dangerously off the edge. A scream works its way up my throat as my hands clumsily tries to open the door. Something, or someone, makes the car creak. Before the scream can escape me, the right tire losses its grip.
The vampire pushes the car with the gentlest of pushes making it tumble towards the fast running water…
