OF ENDINGS AND BEGINNINGS
Jo smiled at the astonished expression on Dean's face as she teleported the both of them to the location of their upcoming wedding the next day. He looked around him at walls filled with books and filing cabinets and saw several rooms as he walked around the building. It all looked fabulously decorated but in a very old style. He could tell that the place hadn't been used in a long time.
"So what is this place and who owns it? Or maybe I should say who owned it because it looks like no one's partied here in a while," Dean asked.
"I doubt anyone ever partied here period, Dean. This is the headquarters of the Men of Letters, and it hasn't been used in decades. As to who it belongs to, it belongs to you and Sam or at least it will anyway," Jo said smiling mysteriously.
"What? You mean I could have been staying here instead of in all of those crummy hotel rooms all of these years?" Dean asked in a disbelieving voice as he looked at her in complete surprise.
"No, not exactly. You need the key to this place first in order to get inside of it. You haven't gotten that just yet though so the only way that you can get in and out of here is through me or another Angel," Jo said.
Dean smirked at her as he said, "So you're taking me to a place that I'm not supposed to know about yet? Won't that mess up all of time and space and make the universe explode or something?"
Jo laughed as she said, "Oh, get over yourself. Despite what some people might tell you, telling a little spoiler about something that hasn't happened yet every once in a while isn't going to bring the whole world crashing down around us."
"Okay, you're the expert now so I believe you. If I start getting erased like Marty McFly though, then I'm going to blame you," Dean said grinning.
"You watch way too many movies, Dean. You've watched them so much that you're starting to think that they're all real. Worse than that, I think you're starting to convince Mary that they are too. Just the other day she told me that she was keeping a close eye out for the flying monkeys from the Wizard of Oz. She said that if they come after her that she's going to turn them all into barbecue wings and open up a restaurant to sell them," Jo said.
Dean laughed as he said, "Yeah, she's got some imagination. She takes after me that way I guess. It's not like flying monkeys are real though, right? They're fakes just like Bigfoot."
Jo smiled knowingly as she said, "Yeah, whatever you say. Anyway the point is that you're making her watch too many movies and getting her all mixed up. She doesn't know what's real and what isn't anymore. She has to learn to live in the real world."
Dean just looked at her like she'd lost her mind as he said, "You're an Angel and I fight monsters and demons every day. Flying monkeys don't seem so crazy all of a sudden compared to that."
"Good point. Just try not to rot her mind too much, okay?" Jo said as she gave him a tender kiss.
"Got it. I guess I'll let Sam pick what to watch next time. I'm sure it'll be something boring and educational with no imagination to it whatsoever. How's that?" Dean said grinning.
"That's a good start. I'm not saying that she should never see any movies just not all movies all the time," Jo said smiling back at him.
"Fine, whatever. Don't blame me when our daughter grows up with no sense of humor whatsoever though. So why do you want to be married here for? What's so special about this place?" Dean asked.
"It's warded against every type of evil that there is. It's the safest place on Earth for that reason. There's no way that our weddings can be crashed by Crowley or any of our other enemies here. The only ones who will be able to get in here without a key will be the people who the Angels bring in here. That's why I picked it. I don't want us to receive any uninvited guests," Jo said.
Dean looked almost disappointed as he said, "Even if some demons had tried to be wedding crashers, it wouldn't be that bad. It would be a good father-daughter bonding moment for me and Mary."
Jo looked at him in disbelief as she said, "You are quite possibly the single most unromantic person that I've ever met."
"What?" Dean asked totally oblivious to what was bothering her.
"Never mind. So what do you think about it? Do you like this spot for the wedding or not? It will give us plenty of room for guests, and some of them could even stay here overnight if they want while we're getting ready for the wedding because it has guest rooms and working water and electricity. I think it's a great location for it," Jo said.
"I like it. In fact, I bet it'd be fun to make this our secret little hideaway. We could come here to get away from it all since no one else can get in. Maybe we could stay here for the honeymoon," Dean said smiling.
"You want to have the honeymoon here?!" Jo asked as she shook her head at him.
"Why not? This place is like the Batcave. It's freaking amazing," Dean said as he looked around him in awe.
"I'm going to correct what I said about you earlier, Dean. You're the single most unromantic person in the history of the universe," Jo said with a sigh.
"I'm so glad I have the more sensitive brother," Jessica said with a grin as she walked into the room.
"I wouldn't say more sensitive but I do have more sense than to think that Jessica would want to have a honeymoon here. Is this because of all of the cars in the garage?" Sam asked.
"There's a garage? How many cars are there?" Dean asked with his eyes lit up.
"Thanks, Sam. Thanks a lot," Jo said in agitation.
"I don't understand why having the honeymoon here would be bad," Castiel said as he suddenly appeared next to Jo with Anna.
Anna looked at him like he was insane as she said, "Uh, because this place is in no way, shape, or form romantic in any way whatsoever. That's why."
"Ah, and it needs to be romantic for the honeymoon to work then?" Castiel asked.
"Yeah, it does or else there won't be much of a honeymoon if a place like this completely kills the mood if you know what I mean," Anna said.
Castiel nodded at first and then shook his head as he said, "No, I don't know what you mean."
"I told you what couples do on their honeymoons, right?" Anna asked.
"Yes," Castiel said as he looked at her intently while trying to follow her train of thought.
"Well, if any husband wants that to happen on their honeymoon then they will not have the honeymoon in a dump like this or nothing will ever happen. Period. Do you understand me now?" Anna asked with an evil smile.
Castiel's face turned white as he said, "I understand completely. It was Dean's idea though not mine. I just want to make the clear."
Anna smiled as she said, "I know. Don't worry about it. We're fine. As for Dean and Jo, that's still up in the air."
"It is? Where is it in the air?" Castiel asked as he looked up.
Anna rolled her eyes as she said, "It's just a figure of speech, Cas."
"Sorry," Castiel said looking down to the floor.
"It's okay. That's one of the things that I love about you. I think that your little looks of complete and utter incomprehension are kind of cute," Anna said as she gave him a tender kiss.
"Wait. So you're saying that you don't want a honeymoon here?" Dean asked Jo.
"How'd you guess?" Jo said with a groan.
"That's okay. We can go somewhere else. It's no big deal. We can come back here sometime to spend the weekends though, right? I still haven't gotten to see the cars yet. Not that I'd ever cheat on my Baby, but I'd still like to see them. I bet from the looks of this place that there will be some real classics there," Dean said in an excited voice.
Jo grinned as she said, "Sure, we can come back here whenever you want. I'm sure that Baby won't feel like you're cheating on her if you just take a look at the other cars."
Dean smiled at her gratefully as he said, "Thanks."
"If you take a look at other women around me however . . ." Jo said trailing off threateningly.
"Don't worry. It'll never happen. You're the only woman in my life, Jo. You know that," Dean said.
"What about Baby? Would you choose me over her?" Jo asked mischievously.
Dean looked visibly ill as he said, "Why would I have to choose between you? You're not going to make me give her up, are you?"
Jo smiled at him reassuringly as she said, "No, of course not. I'm just saying that if you had to choose between us, I'm wondering who you would keep."
"You, of course. You're much more important than Baby. I'd give her up in a heartbeat if I had to choose between you," Dean said with his hands behind his back.
"Dean, why are your fingers crossed behind you?" Castiel asked.
"They're not crossed," Dean said.
"They were though. Just a second ago. They were crossed while you were speaking," Castiel said making Anna and Jessica laugh.
"They were not. Shut up, Dude!" Dean said in an annoyed voice.
Jo laughed now too as she said, "It's okay, Dean. I know how much you love the Impala. I'd never ask you to give her up. I'm just playing around with you."
Dean sighed with relief as Jo wrapped her arms around him. She never would fully understand his devotion to that car, but she would respect it for his sake.
"So who do we have coming here?" Sam asked.
"Well so far it's Mary, Bobby, Ellen, Gabriel, and I think Tessa if she can make it away from her job for a minute. We're also going to get an actual choir of Angels to sing for us. I arranged that personally," Jo said grinning.
"That's it? I kind of thought that maybe someone else would be here too," Sam said disappointed.
"Oh, you mean my extra special guests? They'll come. I've given them a special one day pass. Don't worry," Jo said.
"You mean?" Sam asked with a hopeful look on his face.
"Yes, Sam. They'll both be there. I promise," Jo said.
Sam began to smile and hugged Jo tightly and so did Dean as both brothers thanked her profusely. Jessica meanwhile looked at them in confusion. Who were they talking about?
She would soon find out, and it would be a most welcome surprise.
"Do you think that my extra special guest might be there also?" Castiel asked.
Jo laughed as she said, "Yeah, I think your secret crush will be there too."
Castiel began to smile too now as Anna said, "Should I be jealous?"
"No, of course not. We're just friends and of course I'm the President of her fan club, but other than that there's nothing between us. Nothing serious anyway," Castiel said.
Anna shook her head as she said, "Of course. That's not serious at all."
"Why would I want her when I could have you?" Castiel asked.
Anna face broke out into a wide grin before she gave him a passionate kiss. That was exactly the right thing to say of course.
"I also have another special guest that will be there just for you, Sam," Jo said.
Sam looked at her with a puzzled look on his face as he said, "What? Who?"
"You'll see. Don't worry. It's nothing bad. At least I hope it won't be anyway," Jo said grinning.
Jessica was even more confused now. Who could this be? Even Sam didn't seem to know what Jo was talking about this time. She wasn't sure she liked all of these secrets at her wedding. The only thing that kept her from panicking was her trust in Jo. She was sure that Jo wouldn't do anything to ruin their weddings.
"My parents are coming too, Sam. They can't wait to see you again," Jessica said.
Sam looked uncomfortable as Jessica said, "Don't worry. I'm sure my Dad's gotten over that whole hatred of hunters that he had last time."
"Yeah, sure," Sam said with a frown.
"It'll be alright, Sam. You got too worked up over that one little comment that he made. He was just joking around. That's all," Jessica said.
"He told me that he wanted to set me on fire, Jess," Sam said.
"He was just making a joke, Sam. He's always had a strange sense of humor," Jessica reassured him.
"Right," Sam said unconvinced.
"Dude, I've got Bobby for my father-in-law. I win," Dean said grinning.
"Shut up," Sam said.
Dean continued to grin as Jo and Jessica both rolled their eyes. Those two would never stop it seemed.
All of the guests soon arrived later that day including the ones that the brothers had been waiting to see the most of all: John and Mary Winchester, their parents. Sam and Dean both looked at them in disbelief as they walked into the room looking just as real as they were.
Sam reached out to touch his mother and was surprised to find that she was solid. She was flesh and blood and not a ghost like he had expected her to be. He touched his father and found that he was solid as well.
"How?" Dean asked Jo in shock.
"I told you that I gave them a one day pass. I gave them their bodies back just for today. I'm the head of the Angels. I can do that," Jo said with a smug grin on her face.
Sam and Dean both looked at their parents in disbelief until John Winchester said, "Well, are you going to give your mother a hug or not?"
Both brothers and their parents then got into a group hug with one another. They held each other for a very long time as their family was finally properly reunited for the first time since their mother had died.
"I'm sorry," Sam finally said to Mary.
"For what?" Mary asked confused.
"If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't have been killed. You died trying to save me," Sam said with a guilty look on his face.
"He does this thing where he blames himself for things that aren't his fault. He also blamed himself for my 'death' too," Jessica said smiling at Mary.
"Yeah, my Winchester brother does that a lot too. He blamed himself for what happened to me," Jo said.
"It runs in the family. John actually thought that my death was his fault. It was my own fault. All of it. I wasn't about to let anyone do anything to my son without a fight. I'd do it all over again if I had to go back again," Mary said firmly.
Jo and Jessica both smiled at her as they realized just how much that they had in common with her.
"Dad, I'm sorry for always fighting with you too," Sam said to John.
"It's okay, Sam. It was just as much my fault as it was yours. Let's just forget about it, okay? We're all back together now, and someday we'll all be together permanently so don't worry about anything. That's all in the past, okay?" John said.
Sam nodded and gave his father another hug as Jessica smiled at him. Now she knew who two of the surprise guests were, and she was pretty sure she knew who Cas' was. Who was the fourth one though? The one that was only here for Sam.
She soon received an answer to that as Rose Tyler, Cas' guest, appeared with her granddaughter, Jessica Baker. Jessica ran up to Sam and hugged him tightly much to Jess' shock.
"Hello, Sam. I always said that I'd try to see you again and here I am," Jessica Baker said as she kissed Sam's cheek and continued to hug him tightly.
Sam looked at his Jessica apologetically as Jessica Baker finally let him go. Then she saw that her appearance was less than welcome and quickly put two and two together.
Jessica Baker immediately said to Jess, "Oh, no! No! I'm not here to cause any trouble. I'm just here to see the happy ending to this story. I'm the one who made all this possible after all. If it wasn't for me, Gabriel would have died. Then this whole timeline would have turned out very, very differently. Trust me on that. I just wanted to see Sam again on his special day. Nothing funny is going on here whatsoever. I am kind of flattered that you're jealous of me though. No one's ever been jealous of me before. That's kind of cool."
Rose rolled her eyes at her granddaughter as she said, "Only you would think something like that I think, Jessie. Hi, Cas."
"Hi," Castiel said with a shy look on his face as he stared at Rose and nervously shifted his weight from one foot to the other.
Rose looked at him in amusement as Anna said, "I wish he was that awestruck over me."
"He loves you not me," Rose reassured her.
"I know. I still would like to be looked at that way sometimes. Is that too much to ask?" Anna asked.
"So you want him to say nothing and stand there looking at you like a slack jawed idiot then?" Jo asked laughing.
"Oh, shut up!" Anna said grinning while Castiel looked at both women uncomfortably.
"You'll just have to get used to it, Cas. That's the way it's going to be from now on," Dean said laughing.
"What are you laughing at?" Jo said with a stern expression.
"Nothing. Nothing at all," Dean said nervously.
"Now that's how you do it, Anna. Now he's awestruck," Jo said.
"Got it," Anna said laughing as she smiled at a very nervous Castiel reassuringly.
"We're just joking," She whispered to him and he nodded with relief.
All of the guests mingled with one another except for one. Mary Winchester the younger was definitely hiding from her grandparents. Jo was shocked to see her usually talkative daughter standing in the back of the room and looking at the ground.
"What's wrong?" Jo asked her.
"I just . . . I just don't know if they'll like me or not. I'm half Angel and almost grown. I'm probably not exactly what they're expecting," The younger Mary said.
"Do you mean beautiful, sweet, and loving? You were exactly what I was expecting," The older Mary said from behind her.
The younger Mary shook in fear as she turned around to face her namesake. She began to immediately relax as she saw the huge smile on her grandmother's face.
"I'm not really that sweet. I'm just on my best behavior for the wedding. I'm usually kind of a troublemaker," The younger Mary admitted.
"I can vouch for that," Jo said laughing.
"You're definitely exactly what I was expecting then. You are a Winchester after all," The older Mary said as she hugged her granddaughter tightly.
The younger Mary said nothing. She merely returned the hug with a huge smile on her face.
The next day everyone was ready for the triple wedding, and even Tessa had managed to show up for it. All that they were waiting on now in order to get started was for the one who was going to marry them all at once to finally show up.
"Jo never did tell me who was marrying all of us," Dean admitted to Sam and Castiel as they all stood there together waiting for their brides to enter.
"She didn't tell me either. I can only hope that they arrive soon whoever they are. I am very anxious to be on my honeymoon," Castiel said impatiently.
Dean smiled at him as he said, "I think you've been around me for too long, Cas. You're beginning to think just like me."
"I'm excited at the thought of getting my first sunburn on the beach. I'm going to allow myself to have one just like a real human would get. I can't wait to see what it feels like," Castiel said happily.
Dean frowned then while Sam started laughing as he said, "That was definitely not what I was thinking."
"Oh? What were you thinking then?" Castiel asked innocently.
"It doesn't matter. I hope you like getting your first tan, Cas," Dean said.
"Thank you. I'm sure it will feel wonderful," Castiel said grinning.
Finally Chuck appeared and Dean smiled. Who else could it have been?
The Angels began to sing now, and it was the most beautiful music that any of the humans there had ever heard in their lives. That was when the brides began to appear, and Dean's heart caught in his throat when he saw Jo.
It wasn't just the dress that she was in which was of course pure white and looked magnificent. It was Jo herself who was far more beautiful and radiant to him than any other woman could ever hope to be.
He now felt like the luckiest man in the universe as he watched Jo slowly walk towards him.
Sam meanwhile knew that he was the luckiest man in the universe as he watched an absolutely gorgeous Jess walking toward him. He knew that he didn't deserve her, but he was so happy that he had finally gotten her back. That by itself automatically made all of the pain that he had gone through in the past worth it.
Castiel meanwhile just stared at Anna in awkstruck silence as he took in how beautiful that she was. She smiled to herself with joy as she realized that she had finally gotten what she wanted.
Chuck then married all three couples in a magnificent ceremony where he himself personally gave Anna away, and somehow Sam survived meeting Jess' father again who was much nicer to him this time around. He was sure that that had been Jess' influence over him more than anything else though.
Tessa cried like a baby at the weddings but quickly tried to pretend that it had never happened. Chuck tried to reassure her that she didn't have to hide her feelings just because of her new position. He assured her that her predecessor would cry too on occasion back in the old days and even though she found that very difficult to believe it somehow made her feel better about the whole thing.
The three couples then all enjoyed wonderful honeymoons afterwards. Castiel found that he even enjoyed the pain of the sunburns he received all over his body afterwards as he stayed out in the sun so long that he looked like a lobster. Anna couldn't stop smiling at his childish enthusiasm.
Finally months later, Jo finally had her son. She and Dean called him John Robert Winchester after both of the most important men in their lives. Dean immediately started calling him Bobby though which made his namesake smile with pride. Mary of course immediately took to her little brother and became virtually inseparable from him.
Little Bobby was also a Nephilim, but his powers hadn't appeared just yet. Luckily he had both his mother and sister around to help him with his powers when they started appearing later on.
Dean of course was true to his word and loved all of his children equally and didn't neglect Mary once Bobby had come along. Jo had never doubted that for a moment. She also hadn't doubted what would come next as Bobby even as a baby joined them all in watching Dean's westerns on TV. She was sure that Bobby would become just as corrupt as Mary in no time.
Once Jo was fully recovered from her pregnancy and back up to her full power at last, she did something that she had wanted to do for a very long time now. She finally paid Crowley a long overdue visit for making a deal with Eve.
Crowley soon discovered that her last visit to Hell had been a picnic compared to what she did to the place then. She completely destroyed every last edifice there and utterly demolished the entire realm until not one stone was left standing. Then as she left him she made sure that he knew that if he ever did anything like that again that she wouldn't be so nice on her next visit.
Crowley soon became the laughingstock of the entire demonic community, and he completely lost all of their respect. They had no choice but to obey him for the moment, but none of them wanted him around anymore. In their eyes, he had shown himself to be a completely incompetent leader who was nothing but Jo's puppet.
Conditions were ripe in Hell now for a takeover. That however is another story for another time perhaps.
This story however of the foundation of a new order in Heaven was finally over with at long last. Now that Jo had firmly established her rule, she was finally starting to change things from within there. She hoped for the better.
For a while, there was peace. No one bothered Jo and Dean or their family and friends. It wouldn't last forever of course. Jo sensed that the entire time, but she was determined to enjoy it while it lasted. She and Dean both did exactly that as for the first time in his life Dean had a real home that he could always go back to after he had finished a hunt.
Sam and Jess moved into a house next door to them, and Jess hoped that one day she could have a child of her own as well. She was worried about that child being a Phoenix, but she was determined that even if it was that she would make sure that it never knew one moment of sorrow because of that like she had. Her child would never be made to feel like a monster if she could help it and would only ever know a mother and father's love.
Castiel and Anna stayed in Heaven, and both of them became Jo's commanders and second in command of the Angels. They were both intrigued at the prospect of possibly having a child the human way, but so far they had achieved no results. That didn't mean that they wouldn't keep on trying of course.
For now at least, the Winchesters and their friends had all finally gotten a long overdue happy ending at last. No one had ever deserved it more, and they would need this time of peace to help them through the troubles that still lay ahead of them later on.
Abaddon was coming after all, and Sam and Dean would find out exactly what had happened to their grandfather and their connection to the Men of Letters. It was a revelation that would completely rock their world.
At the moment though in this time of transition between one era of history and another, everything was well and everyone was finally at peace. For the first time in their lives and for however long a time that it lasted, Sam and Dean were finally happy.
THE END
Thank you for all of your support and views for this series. I hope that you've enjoyed it and that you liked the ending. If you read another story of mine called Time and Space, you will receive a pleasant surprise there in future chapters as our favorite Nephilim, Mary Winchester, joins that story's cast of characters. This story may be gone, but I'm not letting go of it completely. I hope that if you do read that story that you'll enjoy what I do with Mary over there.
